Patrick Dorgu | 2024/25 Performances

So, some have written him off?
Sell, sell, sell.
Any kid who comes to a team fighting for mid table and is not lighting up the league within a couple of months of arriving. Get them OUT. I am sick of UNITED being a joke of a club. We are Man United, we need the BEST. Buy high, sell low, that is what my old man always taught me. Hojlund? sell him for some beans if we must. Garnacho, we'd be lucky to get £5m, Mainoo, he doesn't even deserve a new contract. Sell, sell, sell and buy PL proven players like Vardy, Verstergaard and bring back Pereira whilst we're at it!

A beautiful cross for Garnacho and a lovely tee up for Hojlund. Could have had 2 assists

Not the best performance.

To be fair he should have had at least one assist, probably 2, but Hojlund and Garnacho can't shoot.

Having said that he was lazy at the end which led to Lyon recycling the ball from a wayward shot, and it led to the last minute equaliser.

Besides being a natural in the left wing back position I don't really see it with Dorgu. I hope I am wrong but I think there are left backs up and down the Premier League and most of the Championship that are just as strong, just as quick and release the ball a lot faster in attacking areas.

He was and so were a lot of the others. Not sure what they were playing at really.

Don't think he's a particularly exciting player but suits the system and offers an outlet. Good signing for relatively small money and wages. Hard to see how he was playing as a RW for Lecce unless he's got some ability we haven't seen yet

He wasn't the only one, for sure, there were several tired/lazy errors in a short sequence which led to the equaliser.

There's not much there, but he does create one or two great chances every game.

He's shite defensively. I don't really see what's gotten him to be talked about as such a great talent. Early days, but he's looking like a taller and slightly faster Malacia, that's it. He's barely had any impact offensively or defensively so far, he's more likely to turn over possession in the final third than create a chance. Leny Yoro looked more dangerous than him tonight and that's damning.

He created 2 of our better ones tonight.

Created the chance for Garnacho 2nd half which was the highlight.

The biggest worry is his lack of ability to buy himself space to cross the ball when he's 1v1 with the opposition full back. You need wingbacks with enough attacking talent to make a crossing opportunity by himself, and neither Dorgu or Dalot have it.

They can only make themselves of use when they're overlapping and they're fed the ball on the move where there's no opposition player close enough to block the cross.

Harsh in that we do look better with him in the team, but that's mainly because he's left footed and it gives us balance.

Responses to tonight's game are all over the place, blimey.

I like the look of him. Physically very good, eager to get forward and I think he's still understandably in his shell a little. Defensively he needs to improve and technically he's not outstanding, but the raw attributes are there.

I thought he played fine overall. Garna should have finished that brilliant cross.

Standards are pretty low. For the fee we paid I expect better. Plenty of physical full backs out there, we didn't pay a premium just for that.

While I do agree that he has not played well and his defense is worrying, I also believe that he can do much better after a proper pre-season and getting more used to the higher level that this system requires from a WB. Even Dalot who I still think should get sold and frustrates me every game, looks like he's improved in the recent games.

Sure, he'll need to show improvement next season, which you'd expect at his age. The fee wasn't outrageous though and the wages low, so I think it's a decent transfer so far, all things considered.

Mediocre at best so far. Probably a decent squad player who might develop over time, or else get shipped out ala Malacia.

Was getting away with foul throws all night.
I noticed that too. It shouldn't be that hard for a professional player to master a throw-in. Although I'm also amazed at how often we easily cede possession directly from a throw.

No its been a poor one for the fee so far. Hopefully hes just adjusting to the league

He’s only been here 3 months so he gets some grace in my opinion, could of easily had two assist this evening, but our forwards are terrible.

£25m on a rotation player like him is really disappointing. We've got so little money and we spend it so poorly.

It's far too early to make a determination like that.

We look more cohesive with him in the team, he's heavily involved in our play, tonight for example he should have had a couple of assists. The flip side is he can be sloppy on the ball, and beaten by opposition wingers.

We also haven't been playing him as a wing back that much, as whenever Garnacho plays on the left he plays really wide, forcing Dorgu to take up central positions that the 10 in this system is supposed to.

He's not terrible, but he's not particularly encouarging either. Probably neither here nor there so far, which isn't a bad thing given that the entire squad spare Bruno and one or two others are pretty average this year. Suspect he will improve next year once we have a few more players to work with.

I thought he was decent.

It's all perception.

If one of his assists led to a goal, people would be singing his praises.

I'd reserve judgement til next year at least.

I'm curious to how quick he is. Is he rapid or just quick enough?

Pack it in lads. Lots to like tonight, not perfect but when's the last time we had a full back/ wing back create 2 actual chances in a game? He'll get better.
