As someone who has criticised his offensive output, I actually think he played a cleverly disguised low cross to Bruno on the edge of the box, but Bruno's legs had gone by that point and he didn't react (of course Bruno blamed the pass!)

It was an absolutely blind pass that was misplaced.

Physical beast but he's not defensively solid nor offers enough in attack. He has to improve a lot in his decision making. Good thing is he has the physical attributes.

It wasn't blind. He knew Bruno was there. Bruno's legs had gone, or maybe he wasn't expecting Dorgu to play a pass like that.
This makes no sense because Dorgu played the ball behind Bruno. If it was infront of Bruno there could be a theory. This idea that Brunos legs has gone because Dorgu didn't look up before passing and hit it behind him is weirdly justifying his poor play.

It was in front of Bruno, and Bruno stopped running. Perhaps you are referring to different moments.

Wasn't that bad today actually made a few nice passes inside up top with a bit of nouse for once but his defending and positioning left alot to be desired, balls to the back post he was being sucked to the centre of goal and leaving space behind him alot and one of his headed clearances in the box was shocking, but saying that he's young and hopefully can improve this side of his game.

So over the top nit-picking, based on one or two moments from a 40 minute performance, as I thought.

Is it nitpicking to say a full back should stop a cross that went straight through him? Or that we looked shaky in defence when he came on? Not only his fault of course but he wasn't good.

The point somebody else made about the ball to Bruno was a good one though, Bruno should have done better but was looking leggy.

I’d say so, yeah. The best fullbacks in the world will concede crosses from their flank in most games they play.

I wouldn't have minded if he hadn't have his legs as far apart as possible. Of course those things happen but he didn't give himself any chance whatsoever of blocking it.

It is a pretty hard task to deal with both Salah and Frimpong on your own for 20-30 minutes. I don´t know why noone else supported him on the left for a number of times. He let Frimpong through once and that should have been a goal for Gakpo. There is not a lot he can do different by the Liverpool goal. If he dont stick his leg and it goes past him he will get stick for not trying to stop the cross. Now it went through his legs instead..That is a 50750 Decision. We did not start to challenge forward on the left before he got on at all. I do not get the stick at all. I gave him a 7.

I think people are blaming Dorgu after how poor we played exactly when Casemiro came off.

We lost any composure we had through the team and then Dorgu was one on the players who came on at the same time.

Dorgu playing Gakpo onside was also when Liverpool countered us from their corner and Dorgu was found covering at RB instead of LB.

Got beat by Frimpong once when he should know that Frimpong is better at going out that cutting inside.

I prefer Dorgu to Kerkez because Kerkez was very basic for even at Bournemouth for me.

I actually thought he looked really energetic and aggressive when he came on. Ran with intent, looked fast and won the ball back. Frimpong is very, very quick, and was able to get a yard on him to put a cross in - these things happen all the time. Frimpong actually had two very good crosses, but to expect fullbacks to stop every cross is pure fantasy.

I actually thought he was quite ok. Competed physically, got into some great positions. He needs to improve his final ball though.

Energetic and bad at football, which is the norm for him

I love him. Will be awesome by the end of this season if he can avoid injury.

He literally set up two chances yesterday that nearly scored a Liverpool own goal & a shot for Bruno that Bruno couldn't be bothered to run to.

It's fine to not rate him but people are really extravagant about their hate for him saying he's so so so bad. The same fans that were crying we weren't getting Kerkez.

He got beat once by Frimpong, made an absolute run that he couldn't control (that no one else would bother running for) & he played Gakpo onside for a goal when covering RB from corner we just got out.

The hate for this guy is unreal, even if we need a new LB, people are talking like this guy is completely useless which is not true.

Given he is playing wing back, you want him to be at least quite good in defense and attack. He doesn't really offer much attacking threat so he needs to be near rock solid at the defensive side of the game.

He doesn't fill me with any confidence and hasn't to date. We badly need a strong LWB in this formation.

As terrible as Dalot is, I think I’d rather him any day of the week. There’s always a latent chance that perhaps, Dalot may do something of high quality. If we are to persist with this formation long-term, which I am not convinced we will - we need more at LWB because currently, the juice doesn’t even come close to justifying the squeeze of actually playing a wing back.

Looks like he is doing the right things, but at the most critical final moments when he can create or score a goal, seems to choke and mishit a cross or pass. Hopefully, he gains more composure.

Dalot seems to be poor generally but creates a goal now and then.

Give him at least 1.5 more years to level up: remember how crap Evra and visit eas in their first 6-9 months. And Evra came from a champs league final team Monaco whereas Dorgu came from a mid tier series A squad.

He's 20. He's at least 5 years away from hitting his peak.

The issue is that a 20 year old, unless something spectacular like Rooney, Ronaldo, Mbappe etc should rarely be a guaranteed starter, especially not if he's new to the club and country.

He would be a very good back-up, but he's not starter material yet, and Dalot has proven over some time now that he's just not good enough. A new LWB should be a priority along with a central midfielder.

Still looks super raw to me. Huge improvement needed. Strangely looks to have regressed in terms of physicality compared to when he played his first few matches for United.

I don't think he is a total lost cause. He has qualities to build on, but is just super raw.

The problem is that the wing-backs are really important to creating something dangerous from the wings, and his final ball is too often a let-down. If he could improve his crossing and just pick out simple cutbacks, he could be really useful, because he does get into a lot of good positions.

At this point, I think it's probably healthy to rotate a bit between him and Dalot, since we don't really have other options.

I think we lose sight of the bigger picture because of results induced pain, in the short run. He will either improve or transition to a squad player over the next 24 months but having him here for 25m, with the potential upside any improvement whether tactically, technically or physically, will be a huge bonus for us. Its also easy to make a decent profit or recover the initial investment made on him.
