He's a young fullback being asked to run the entire left hand side of the pitch for a club that attracts attention and pressure like no other.

It's just the same mistake we've made before. As too much of a young player too soon.

There's no doubt he lacks some technique but he also needs some time and patience.
 
He is 21 years old. It’s not as if he has just turned 18 and is getting his first look at the senior team.
He clearly lacks technique, dribbling, and crossing ability, yet he is (or was) the starting wing-back — and we sometimes wonder why the system doesn’t work.
We either need to loan him out or change the system/coach and let him play as a full-back. In the near future, he will not perform at the level we need from him.

I think this is right. He just hasn't developed to the point where he's an effective player in the Premier League. But he's got excellent instincts and athleticism to build on, which can't really be taught, while the things he's short of - above all technical ability and passing accuracy - can. Ideally a loan would seem to be a good idea.

BUT.... I definitely have watched too much of Antony and this "was twice the footballer" is some major revisionist BS. Antony was horrible for Premier League and for us. He was worse than empty spot - he was a walking disaster. I would play anybody than him in EPL. Seems to be fine in other leagues, but we don't play in those leagues

Antony's first season was decent. Obviously not worth anywhere near what we paid for him, but if we'd bought him for 20-30m or so we'd have been happy with him and seen him as a decent squad player in the long term. Certainly better than Dorgu has been for us so far. It was only in his second season where it all went to shit.
 
Didn't worked out, cut our loses and move on. He's still young and a Denmark international so we should be able to get most of the money back.
 
Players don't magically do a 180 any more than managers magically turn clubs around after a season or more of utter dross.

If a player is showing little sign of being top class after a year or two then hes probably not going to show any more signs in 2-3. Some players do develop later in their careers but they almost never go from first team to bench for 3-4 years and magically come back as top class.

Dorgu hasn't got many of the attributes required to be good enough at this level. Technically he isn't good enough.

Of course it can, plenty of research on it as well, but lots of people are determined that after 15 or so, you won’t improve technically. Your pace also peaks at 18-19. Silly really.

You are most likely right though. And I think for many it’s more a can you handle the tempo than purely a technical thing.
 
His lack of desire to win a ball back, or to sprint after a miscontrolled pass is the most worrying thing. He should be buzzing about every chance he gets but he looks like he ain’t too bothered. Couple that with his awful crossing ability and lack of a first touch, he needs to start showing an improvement in his play soon
 
He has a high ceiling IMO but he is still very, very raw and I'm not sure if he will ever reach that potential, especially at United...

Would rather us sign another proven LWB and keep him as backup where there is less pressure on him. Give him another season or 2 and see how he does before deciding if he is good enough or not.

Watch him for Bournemouth's last chance in the 98th min. Half assed challenge, gets skinned and a brisk jog back to chase the ball. No idea how this kid gets games for Denmark.

It's Denmark. It's not that long ago that players from our domestic league would get picked for the squad and sometimes starting XI. The talent pool isn't that deep.

One good cross and one lucky steal makes it a good game these days it seems. He was atrocious.
 
Assisted, should have gotten second assist as well but Cunha missed a sitter
 
The usual shocking technique at times and he falls over way too easily which could have cost us if Oliver hadn’t given a non-existent free kick in the first half. Despite that, one of his better games.
 
Absolutely brilliant today. I’ve given him shit all season and don’t think he’s good enough, but that was a proper performance. Brilliant stuff. Cash has been in excellent form all season and he couldn’t handle him.
 
Only watched the second half but I thought he was decent. I don't think he'll ever be a starting quality player for us but I do think he can at least be an okay squad player

Well if you create twice as much as you make in errors, then yeah obviously it does make it a good game. Should have had 2 assists. Cost us 0 goals.

Great game attackingwise. Didn't shy away as we've seen with many faded players at United.
 
Good game from him. Workrate was outstanding and should have had two assists.

If Yoro and Heaven had defended with the same intensity we might have won the game.
 
He still turns back on himself too much, whereas ideally you want someone in his position going down the outside of his full-back more to get in to more dangerous crossing positions, but he produced a few moments of quality which makes you sometimes wonder if he actually has more in his locker, and at least gives a vague glimpse that he can develop further.

His blocked shot towards the end looked to be nestling in to the corner of the net.

He doesn't do much, he doesn't have a single creative bone in his body. Friendly reminder that with the way we set up today he was basically our LW in possession, Matty Cash probably couldn't bbelieve his luck. Apart from a dangerous cross or two he was far below the standard you'd want from a wide player. He panics on the ball, and has no idea how to beat a man. This signing is a head-scratcher, i can't see anything there that would convince someone to think he could be a good LWB.

A mistake from the many he made could have cost a goal. He also cost us 10 attacks by just giving up on the ball.
 
He lost possession a few times and some of his crosses did not hit the target. On the other hand he was overall pretty decent defensively with headers, tackles and getting us fouls. His offensive input was also good today. He read the opportunity for his assist well, and should have had another assist with that great cross to Cunha. There was another great cross for Dalot in the first half and he looked dangerous confronting the Villa right back. I thought he was pretty good.
 
He had umpteen chances to cross the ball today, and pretty much the only one that wasn't smashed into the nearest defender's legs ended up with Cunya almost scoring.

I think he's useless.
