True but how many times have players rn away from getting a pass and have left him with no options? Im not saying he's great but we could do a lot worse and comparing him to Dalot is ridiculous.
Dalot is horrendous yes but this guy is not very far off.

Absolutely we can better than this two.. we are a big club c'mon!

Considering we'll be making extreme makeover of the midfield and need at least one winger, I doubt we're getting an upgrade on Dorgu anytime soon.

He fights every match. Puts him low down the list for upgrades.

I used to be way more critical of him than I am now. I think he's really redeemed himself and has look far better in every game he's played with a back 4 compared to his wing back role, whether that was on the wing or at full back.

Bambi on ice. I'm genuinely not sure if he's just got a diving trait built in to him, or he has terrible balance.

Has very good work rate and puts crosses into the box which is a positive. Just needs to stay on his feet.

Yeah I've noticed that. He goes down too easily. Don't like to see it.

His indecision to put in a ball first time after making the space is mega frustrating but I can't fault his endeavour, especially when he doesn't really have a left wing player ahead of him to work with.

Positionally suspect when on the back foot and again, perhaps I'm being generous but I can forgive that-ish for a 20 year old. I feel much of his inexperience and mistakes are half due to the fact that we play so much onus on him and Martinez down that left side to create, build up and progress the ball; they often expose themselves in disadvantageous situations where they have to gamble and push up whilst the rest of the team in front of them are being static.

2-0 down and we got a throw in out left wing. Fernandes left it alone. Dorgu walked the 20 yards to the touchline from inside the area. Get a fkn move on, mate! We're losing here, comfortably!

Only one on the field than was running his ass off, he was definitely gassed

I wonder if managers set up to allow him space, knowing he’s feckless. He always seems to be the player getting the ball and he looks like someone who won a competition to play

I've been very critical of him (comparing him to De Laet, Büttner, Blackett etc.) but I'll give him that he's been better for the last month or so.

I don't think he'll ever be good enough to start for a team with ambitions of being a top team, but he may be useful to keep as a rotational option if keeps improving.

So would most Sunday league players

He’s absolutely shite
And yet today one of our best players. Longer term hes not good enough for a starting 11, but right now hes doing better than most.

Which means nothing when we were crap
Might shock you, but we are crap and this is our situation. You can complain all you like, but its about actually have a plan to improve things. At the moment Dorgu is very low on our list for improvements.

He's like Dalot a few years ago when he was more raw. And if he doesn't polish some gaping problems in his football then he'll be ridiculed like Dalot when the shiny toy syndrome wears off among our fans.

He’s really not. Some players are under performing this guy is just bad
Poor technique
Poor first touch
Poor decision making

Going forward he is absolutely terrible with the occasional good cross.

and yet sometimes he looks like our best attacker, way better than Cunha has been in a while.

Certainly not our best attacker. And as shit as Cunha was today, he's it's not par for course that Dorgu is better in attacking.

Came here to read how he did as I didn’t watch the game. I see he was completely shit and our best player. Saved me reading the other performance threads. Thank y’all.

He is just not very good, he has got some physical traits but other than that he is bang average. There are so many times in attack that he just stands there rather than making a run in behind. His crossing is abysmal and his general play on the ball is below par.

Better not to rely on any comments about player's performances after a night like that, but Dorgu was one our best players the first half, but ran himself into ground and faded in the second. If I were to call out any players after yesterday's match, he would not be one of them, and in general, he's been pretty good of late.

You cant criticize his effort. A sign of a club in complete chaos is when players get praised for effort though. He's just not very good at football. The minimum requirement should be players talented enough who put in a shift and care about winning and losing.

Is it just me who saw amazing through balls yesterday?

Better crossing ability?

Better dribbling ability except 2 slips?

He looks much better at LB than LWB.

Recently dorgu has been a better attacker than Cunha no doubt.

Am I crazy for thinking he’s improving? Or maybe I’m just hopeful

He isn't a fullback, that was fairly clear last night.

A great example is the second Brighton goal, for the pass to Gruda (who assisted Welbeck), Dorgu was about 5 yards behind the rest of the defence, playing Gruda well onside and not even marking him closely either. If Dorgu was in line with the rest of the defence, or if he had to drop deep with Gruda if he was at least marking him properly, the 2nd Brighton goal doesn't happen.

I don't blame Dorgu for this really, he's a winger by trade, he shouldn't have been put at fullback. Strangely, despite setting us up in a system that requires 2 wingers, Fletcher decided to play our only senior winger at fullback.

I would say more than 2.
Really it isn't. Also we know cunhas technical quality and we know he has a high ceiling. We know Dorgu is tremendously limited technically, so these small sample sizes you point to really don't mean anything substantial because he's never cut out to be an attacker for a top team.

Cunha is very technically limited, and he's not shown a good ceiling at all this season.

I think he’s definitely better than when he first joined. But it’s only fairly recently, and whether this is just a short purple patch before he regresses to norm, or whether he is genuinely improving, I don’t know.

But it would be expected that a guy signed at age 20, from a different league, would improve over their first couple of seasons. That’s just natural.

I wonder if, to some extent, he’s found it easier in a back 4. Because his role is more well defined maybe? Just a guess.

Cunha is very technically limited, and he's not shown a good ceiling at all this season.
Cunha is very technical, his ball retention and ball carrying and ability to interlink is stupidly higher than Dorgu, it's not even a competition.

He's a player who is capable of 15 or so goals in this league from a relegation fighting side, I think we all know what he can do with time.

Cunha loses the ball all the time, his first touch is poor and he doesn't really dribble as much as he chases the ball into space.

He's never shown good link up anything, he struggles with it.

He's good at being selfish and shooting a lot.

He’s poor technically, let’s be honest. His first touch often bounces a few yards away from him. He has other qualities, though.

He’s the least of our problems right now, imo. His athleticism is such an outlier in our squad that even with his technical drawbacks, he’s useful to have.

Recently dorgu has been a better attacker than Cunha no doubt.

What frustrates me the most with Cunha is his reluctancy to pass the ball. He is always trying to dribble 2-3 guys when he just needs to play a simple pass by them.
