Great. Now Roy can stick the fecking boot in when they’re inevitably bottom of the table ten games in.

Didn't Palace once hired Frank De Boer? And now this?

That feels like a gigantic step down from Favre.

They missed City legend off his bio  .

Be interesting to see how he gets on, I hope he does well, but suspect it’ll be a tough task.

From article:

* Deal has yet to be signed, but all parties expect an agreement to be rubberstamped toda
* On original set of targets (alongside Lampard, Dyche & Ismae
* Club pursued Santo & Favre without succe
* Bournemouth were also interested in Vieira, but went with Parker

"Favre had held positive talks with Palace and agreed a three-year contract. He had second thoughts before deciding not to sign."

Didn't he replace Favre at Nice?

I suspect this won't end well but good luck to him.

Well he may sound like a fit for them to the owners but with the squad he's got and half of them are out of contract, he'll want to make major changes to get them better but they don't spend lots of money.
Is it gonna make Zaha want to stay? Probably not but might be able to invest his sale in players Vieira trusts.
Good luck to him. Very hard job

wonder what the odds will be for him to be the first manager to get the sack in the Premier League? Will be putting a tenner on it for sure.

Yeah I can't see this one going well.

Palace behave weirdly don't they?
Players out of contract as well.

Few years back, Palace were doing a deal with some New Jersey based investors, loads of promises for rebuilding the stadium and more, as of today still zero progress.

It's a very strangely managed club for sure.

What's Vieira's playing style been like as a coach? I'm wondering if they are going the De Boer route once again: get a coach that will instill a different style, then have zero patience to see it implemented and sack him five games in.

(Not that De Boer is a good coach, but it sure was a weird decision-making process at Palace to bring him in and sack him again so soon.)

He didn't do very well at Nice, so good luck Palace.
He did very well for two seasons with a Nice squad that wasn't particularly talented. The start of this season was difficult though.

I'm looking forward to seeing how he does in the Premier League. Always liked him as a player and appreciate his graft in management. I hope he does well.
