I've seen the name mentioned by some in here and turns out we've actually been linked with him weeks ago

He's a left footed CB that plays for Villareal with a release clause of 45m. Apparently La liga's fastest defender this season clocking a top speed 34.9km. Villareal fans also voted him into their club's greatest XI so that's something. Don't know much else

If we are legit about wanting him then I hope we get him ASAP. Had a bit of an nightmare against Barcelona when I watched him a few weeks ago but he has been getting rave reviews from alot of Spanish Journalists.

He actually looks like Lindelof a bit. I am assuming he plays exactly like him, based on that.

I want Pau Torres.

I've never seen him play.

But we're owed a Villareal signing after missing out of Marcos Senna and never signing Juan Roman Riquelme

I haven't watched Pau Torres, but i am surprised he is so highly rated going by his statistics. Whoscored have him as weak in the air and he is 1.91m.

Wow Marcos Senna now that really is a blast from the past. Reckon that would have been around 2005/2006ish.

The next defender really needs to be better than what we currently have and needs to be dominant. If he is that then yes please.

When I Google him all I see is links to Barcelona, Chelsea and Arsenal.

You're welcome for the insight

I think we should go for Torres. I've never seen either play, not even a minute, but I assume Torres is unquestionably the better player and we'd be leaning into the Brexit FC stereotype if we signed Rondon. If Torres turns out badly then it was obvious we should've gone for Rondon 100%.

Rodon looks like Ramsey, wouldn't mind a CB with his passing qualities.
No more of Giggs recommendations please. Also we need someone to come in and take over the starting spot. Not sure how much better Rodon is over Lindelof.

Going by the tweet and description by the OP, he is now the only CB I want us to sign this summer.

Rodon looks more aggressive, but Torres looks a bit more cultured on the ball. He's also left footed, so i'd be happy with him.

Under a tree.
I thought this guy was off to Barca, but if we have a chance will definitely be happy if we got him. He has amazing composure on the ball and his passing is up there with VVD

The left footed LCB is very hard to come by so Ive been wondering if we end up for Pau Torres, Salisu, martinez, Ake. Not exactly bombarding with talent.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of this ends up true.

Ake is off to City it seems. Salisu is heading to Southampton. I don't think we will want Martinez. If we are obsessed with getting a left footed CB then we would probably end up getting Torres. Cant think of any other decent left footed CBs available

Why are we after a left sided defender when Maguire prefers left?
There is an idea that to compensate for Maguire's weaknesses with regards to pace/agility, he should be flanked on both sides by quick, aggressive defenders. We have AWB on the right, but nobody comparable on the left. If we buy a new LB, it should be someone capable of offering some attacking threat from the fullback position - this will often lead the LCB exposed to 1v1s or having to move laterally to defend wide areas - again, this is not something Maguire is well-adapted to. The solution is to move Maguire to RCB and buy a quick, aggressive LCB - ideally a left-footed one who is comfortable defending in wide areas when necessary.

There is also the suggestion that having both right and left-footed CBs, is important for ensuring proper build-up play. Here Guardiola explains the importance of having one of his two CBs be left-footed: https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/how...le-and-perhaps-the/1p7jvcd5ja95v14o7dfuid2oaq Solskjaer is much less concerned with possession and building the play than someone like Guardiola, but the case can nevertheless be made.

This makes sense but ffs 80m spent and he can't function without heavy protection. My opinion is that we want a left footed CB because Maguire is the only one that can play LCB naturally in the team that is if we sell Rojo and Jones which is likely

Interesting player from the little I have seen. Would be nice with some feedback from someone who has seen him regularly.

According to some reports and stats, even though he s quite tall (6ft3) he s not very good in the air.
Otherwise he s an excellent ball playing LCB.
But honestly, I haven't seen him playing.

Genuinely think we shouldn't be going for young talents that may turn out well or may not (Lindelof type signings!). We need a complete centre back that will instantly improve us, like Koulibaly (seems city bound), Hummels, Skriniar etc. Someone of that ilk

£50m on another maybe talent isn't what we need in defence right now.
