Yes this had been brought on by the Mane incident earlier but it's a general question with regards to the issue of contact in the penalty area.
Is simply any contact in the box, without playing the ball, a penalty now and should referees be agreeing on the threshold so as to ensure consistency across the board on this?
The new handball rule regarding interference with a goal came in this season and it's prevented ambiguity on the matter. If the ball goes in the net and an arm has had a part in it (intended or otherwise) it's no goal. Do we need something similar with regards to the above?
I think the biggest frustration at the moment are the inconsistencies which the VAR seems to simply ignore. Perhaps the rules are too ambiguous?
