Dig up stupid!
Bit rich from him really, City don't really have the fan base to fill the stadium regularly. At best they're a decent championship level club.

He knew the deal when he took the money

I was flicking between the matches last night and the atmosphere at the city game was like a morgue with big patches of empty seats all over the stadium.

Small club with rich owners and no fan pull.

At work we play a local radio station and without a doubt they advertise every City game with reduced priced tickets, it’s crazy how they can’t or don’t sell out games. They we’re advertising the Leipzig game at £20 for adults ffs.

Well they have to invite Ronaldo to watch the game from the stands.

He is just blocks away in Manchester.

remember when they were shit and people used to say they have more fans in Manchester

I swear a lot of City fans were happier when they were in League one going to Rochdale away and shit

Oh come on lads, they protested against Uefa last night. And the traffic was awful.

Pep has made loads of comments about city’s lack of support / noise / empty seats since he took charge.

If they’d clinched Messi or Ronaldo this summer it would have been a game-changer for them

Yeah, I think @bosnian_red had a great post about how much Ronaldo coming would do for their status in football world when we all thought he's bound to go there.

Andy Mitten interviewed a few of their supporters who have followed them home and away for 20+ years. Each one said they miss the Maine Road days and the old division one and wish they could go back.

Said now the atmosphere is much worse, the new supporters from nowhere just sit on their phones during the matches and they don’t feel valued by the club any longer

We all love United
Must have looked across the road to Old Trafford last Saturday and wondered why he couldn't have that in his own stadium

How absolutely tragic

If they'd managed to sign Ronaldo they'd probably have been able to finally sell out a few games. But then every away teams fans in the league would have rightfully been able to chant at them "you only came to see Ronaldo".

Some City fans I know feel that this is a brand new City team far removed from their Maine Road days, hence why they aren't that fussed about going. (This rings true with the fecking statues they put up recently)
Couple that with their bizarre protest against UEFA and it leads to a completely dead atmosphere.
They won't have a fan base relevant to a big club for a long long time.

You can shower them with billlions, but they're still a mid level club. They have a temporary influx of new wave internet fans but those don't go to the stadium and will leave when Emirati investment dries up.

Why would non ST holders buy UCL games? You might as well wait until they're practically giving them away.

That is embarrassing!

Buy all the titles you want, their fans still won't turn up.
It's unbelievable that they extended the capacity of the Emptyhad a few years back. Usually a club increases capacity when there is a demand for tickets.

Small time club no-one gives a feck about, attempting to create an illusion that they are massive.

It'll take another ten or so years before they start selling out the ground. They need to wait for the toddles and pre-teens to be able to go to games, they're the ones who probably see City as a big deal. Thats of course if the money sticks around.

It is tragic but let's just say it hownit is. They are an artificial big club. They don't have the fan base. Will take them at least a generation to build it.

Nothing new...Emptyhad
But it makes me even more frustrated to look back at what they've done in the last 10 years, and what we' done during that period

City away is the only game I've been able to get tickets for in the home end on the day consistently for the last 10 years. I think I managed it once at West Brom about 8 years ago but that's it. City tickets are always available to be purchased literally hours before kick-off.

They must be in the only fanbase in the league who don't have to worry about loyalty points.

They've been pretty much giving away tickets for 5-10 years.

To be fair to City, Liverpool used to get low attendances for even important CL games in the 2000s. They'd get the full house for the PL but CL games would be around 10k less.

It’s crazy….they actually believe they have great supporters because they were all at the CL final. All posting on Facebook saying how amazing their support is compared to United because they are all there, friends family, all of them!

The irony is that it’s the complete opposite of that.

I think City's fanbase didn't grow for 3-4 years now at least but it's a combination of more factors: 1) no galactico signings with massive following 2) there are already many, many brands in football 3) not many tourist are excited about visiting Manchester.

Apart from Ronaldo and Messi, which footballers would people go particularly out of their way to see? Thats the sort of names they need to get people through the doors. I can't think of many if any. Maybe Haaland and Mbappe in a few years, maybe.

It just looks such a hollow atmosphere.

The problem is you're basically asking that guy "Did you enjoy your life more 20, 25 years ago?". So what he's gonna say? Of course you remember when you were young, when you were 20. Nobody wants to be 40, 50.

he's never seemed very happy at City to me, I think he's taken the offer because it was too good to refuse, i mean they essentially gave him everything he could ever wish for as a manager, and an open cheque book,
But he isn't stupid, he knows it's a completely soul-less enterprise. I reckon he wanted out a couple of seasons ago but for whatever reason they have him by the balls. I mean how many times has he mentioned leaving now to the press? (before backtracking in the very next interview)
It'll be very interesting to see what happens to City when he does leave, where do they go from there? they've had the best manager in the world for a long time now, I think it may be a bit of a reality check once he does leave, If the best manager and arguably one of the best teams in the world won't fill your stadium... what will?
