Don't think they will but if City do win the title, he'll leave for sure. If they don't he may have one final try next season as his contract expires next summer anyway. But feel like this could be his final months as City manager and as a manager in general for a while. Some of his comments over last few months suggest that.

He is more than 15 years into top management, and he still hasn't learned how to play CL away games? I have never seen a top manager that likes to sabotage himself so often.
From what I gather it's because he overthinks things and overcomplicates things too much. He's so focused on trying to outsmart the opposition that he outsmarts himself.
I was furious when I saw the teamsheet, I'll never forget that selection. Was probably our best ever team too, playing Gundogan as a 6 with 5 other midfielders in attack (7 in total counting Zinchenko). I was furious before a ball was kicked leaving out Rodri and Kun. He has a habit of Peping himself which he still hasn't shaken off.

Cherki is an overrated futsal trickster. Yes he has abundance of skill and will look good when you are dominating teams but you are playing with one less in defense with him on the pitch. Or make that two less with Haaland also on the pitch.

I live even close to old trafford and feel pretty much the same. In my local friendship group there are more Arsenal fans than City fans. It’s quite impressive how few City fans there are locally to me despite their recent ‘success’.
Reckon he will get a tune out of them if they spend another 100m on Anderson. Maybe a couple hundred on Saliba and another top class winger.

This city team just really isn’t that good, and teams like Madrid are almost tailor made to exploit their weaknesses. Considering all the money spent….crazy how they’re getting worse.

Always needs the upper hand to succeed. Now that he’s not got the best team to work with, he’s struggling. Of course they spent an enormous amount of money over the last 1-1.5 years trying to fix it for him but the recruitment has also been mixed - some good signings, some not so great. Hopefully he fecks off now and City get relegated
He doesn't have a true elite matchwinner for the first time in his career just about. Definitely for the first time during his time at City. The players they have now compared to Aguero, David Silva, De Bruyne, and even Mahrez is a piss take. Haaland as we're seeing can be unplayable but he's suddenly looking mortal and he's not the same type of player as the aforementioned. Building a second dominant side around different players isn't for mere mortals

To be fair, he did - we were financially way ahead of every other club in the world and SAF could have splurged on any player he wanted to at that point...but he just chose not to be crazy and focus on long term instead, learning from his early 2000s Kenyon era lessons on buying players like Veron. There was a patch in 2005-07 when we didn't really invest much but we got Vidic, Evra, VDS, Park (barely eye moving at that time) and then Carrick with Obi Mikel money - fans were up in arms. It was a crazy calculated gamble at that point that paid off really well for the years to come. Credits to David Gill as well. As soon as they both left and Woodward started playing Disneyland, we lost our edge and started splurging on junk.
We were but it was not possible to outspend everyone, almost every summer. Real, Barca the Italians teams and then Chelsea etc were spending far more. The difference is that they were not relying on their revenues (like City).
So no. We couldn't do what City is doing now or real and chelsea did back then.

There's a theory that the best coaches peak for a decade or so. Think he was 39 or so when he won his first CL trophy. He certainly has lost that aura.

City are so fragile at the moment. A really mediocre Madrid dealt with them very comfortably, yesterday West Ham had one shot in the game. It's so very easy to hurt them.
He was held back initially by the club being a PLC. Martin Edwards and Fergie constantly butted heads over not making the funds available that Fergie wanted, both for fees and wages - players like Batistuta were supposed to be well keen but we wouldn't break the wage structure. Fergie even resigned in the summer of 98 but later changed his mind.
We relaxed the purse strings a bit by the early 00s but we still didn't spend like Chelsea at that time or city more recently. The odd big signing like Rio, Ruud or Veron came in but it was always supplemented by cheaper signings.

I’d love Pep to leave but to be honest if that means they get Enrique I hope they give baldy a new ten year deal.
We probably don't want to be looking for a new manager the same summer City are in fairness. So hopefully he sticks it out.

Sure. Because we let Kompany leave early to do City a favour. Who comes up with stuff like that and how does anybody believe this?
Exactly, Kompany is at far bigger club already, so not sure why people would assume he'd just come back to City at the click of their fingers.
I know a small number pretend, but I don't believe any of their former players post Oil money really give a toss about them, so the sentimental pull doesn't stack up either.

Nico Gonzales barely been used in last three months and Rejinders has dropped well out of favour after his decent start so that is two CMs out of favour and probably going to be ditched.
They've lost a bit of direction with transfer strategy in recent times. Or they're signing lots of players for post Guardiola era but he's still deciding to hang around for longer and so they're not ideal fits for what he wants to do.

Silly..the only competitive league is the EPL. Nothing else counts.
With Messi Barcelona was a very different team. I’m not saying he won’t do great in the prem… I just think he’ll struggle as it’s a lot more competitive than what he’s use too.
