I enjoy guardiola. He elevates the sport more than any manager I ever seen imo. Pity him and no one in sport or entertainment can be fully embraced due to the obvious cheating and other nasty stuff they at least are accused of.

It's a shame he's leaving. Obviously the most impactful manager on football in the last 20 years (arguably a longer period) and he generally raises the standards.

I’m putting his achievements into context. He has not won the CL as a manager without credible accusations of blatant cheating. The story of Guardiola is the story of Fuentes, Negreira and 130 charges.

Wish him all the best. Everything else aside, he's a great coach who, along with Klopp, defined the post Fergie era of the PL and had a massive influence on the game. I know this opinion can get heated push backs but I'm not here to argue.
Anyone have the official numbers in terms of how much he’s spent at as manager? It must be a record. His tactics only work with huge financial investment, in a way there is greatness to that as there is a guarantee to your investment but in the end it’s soulless.

I wouldn't exactly say I have a soft spot for him, but there is still something amusing about Pep. I find some of his quotes and theatrics a lot more tolerable than what we've seen from the likes of Klopp and Arteta. He seems like a proper weirdo, but not in an aggressively annoying way - at least not to me. But it will be good for the league to see the back of him. The next 5-10 years of PL could get quite interesting.
As a football manager here's up there with the best, when he has the best players. But he still doesn't have a proper rebuild job on his resume, and he won't ever get it.

I have always thought Klopp and Arteta are more obnoxious in public because theyre too vocal and expressive but if it happens in private you'd probably shrug it off as "here we go... he's angry again" because they act like they're angry
But Pep is the opposite, his rage is more contained but expressed in weird and subtle ways that in public its somehow more tolerable but in private you'd shit your pants because hes a proper closet weirdo, serial killer vibes.

I hope they go through some tough years now like we did when losing Fergie.. But City isnt the absolut sh*t show we were behind the scenes.. I think he's leaving them in a decent state too, so I think they still be up there or there abouts..

Are we witnessing the end of the manager as an elite figure dominating their clubs? I mean it looks as if most clubs are adopting a model where the manager is really just a coach implementing the club's ethos.
It's interesting Madrid are turning back to Mourinho rather than going for an up and comer. It shows the lack of big name personalities out there in the coaching field right now.
Even Maresca going to City seems to be a bit of a change of direction in that regard from a club you'd expect to have the biggest names in every department.

Pep is a very intelligent and great manager. He is jumping ship at the perfect time. City are in decline, haven't won the league in a few seasons, other clubs gaining with momentum, recent 5 defeats in a row, pending 115 charges. He is leaving before the ship sinks, it's now someone else's problem. He leaves with a great record and reputation intact no matter the outcome, clever.
