Going out a double loser (to Slot and Arteta no less) after spending a fortune across his last three windows to try to keep in touch, all of this at a time where Ferguson was just getting started with a team he built on youth players already at the club.

Absolutely no comparison.
 
Good coach just the wrong club. I understand why Pep went there as he has resources beyond any managers wildest dreams. So it makes sense. But in terms of legacy it sure has meant nothing except to maybe city fans. If he went to United, him leaving would be massive news regardless of what he achieved. But at City its a non event here. Not even a wisper. Thats to bad.

I'm genuinely a bit shocked the squad didn't come together enough to send him off with a win against a still hungover Villa side.

Just watched the highlights on YouTube and the stadium had tons of blue seats from the start.
 
BBC absolutely glazing him in an article about “emotion after 10 years of glory”, completely ignoring the 115 charges as they get all tumescent and moist over the cheating git. I’m looking forward in a morbid curiosity kind of way to how they walk this back if the charges land and his legacy is in tatters, as it should be.

Yeah I noticed that too.

Not sure why they're expanding their stadium when they can't even fill it currently. Especially on a matchday like that.

My mate got some last minute tickets an hour before kick off. Didn’t try too hard too. Remember how hard it was to get tickets for Fergies last game? I wasn’t a season ticket holder at the time and remember it was impossible.

I was going to say actually it was strange to see a City game where it actually looked full.

They always announce a huge attendance and it's usually absolute bollocks and you can see vast swathes of empty seats but I think they genuinely were sold out today. So it's nice they all got to see City lose.

I don't see it. Can't chequebook his way to the top there.

I actually doubt he works as a manager again. Only team that could offer him the opportunities he wants/needs is PSG, and I doubt he makes the switch from Abu Dhabi to Qatar.

Can’t help but feel this naming of stands and statues outside the stadium is just shitting all over the history pre Abu Dhabi.
There’s pretty much no doubt at this point it’s an MK Dons scenario, like their history started in 2008.

We basically replicated the first half against them as v Spurs, 0 shots whatsoever. However without Haaland they didn't have enough in final third and it was all low key.

Then we brought on all our big hitters during second half and I think they were shocked some of them had quickly sobered up. :lol: Could've scored more than two on the break with Bailey hitting crossbar.

One thing I would say. Even if he isn't as good as two years back psychologically it feels more likely to score against them if Rodri isn't around to plug gaps. He was absent v Everton and Man. City fell apart defending for 20 minutes. Again they looked vulnerable today and he was basically one man midfield against Bournemouth's press last week. This is why Man. City struggle to beat many top half teams now unless their attack is really on it and will be big issue for Maresca if he's thinking of moving on himself in near future.

I watched the highlights City posted, going by that Villa had 2 shots.
 
I for one am glad that he’s now gone. Hopefully that goddam lifeless robotic football that has practically killed off creative players can now die a death and we’ll see creative players start to spring up again

I was watching YouTube videos yesterday and the type of talent that we no longer see.. Ronaldinho, Baggio, Del Piero, Cantona, Bergkamp, LeTissier, Gazza etc
 
Excellent article about Guardiola. Free to read presently. Well worth it.

Interesting that training with him was full throttle. First team doing two and half hours of training the day before match. Apparently Neil Warnock was present once and was in shock at the intensity.

Reminds me of what Roy Keane said once that training at Utd could be more difficult and intense than actual PL games.

Didn't realise the plan was at one point to stay to win 10 PL titles. However the collapse last season put that idea on the back burner.

He does have similarities to Fergie in how he treated the staff at the club
