Why would he take the Italy job? Would be interesting to see what he actually does with a national team as he can’t spend billions. I think only Spain are ready made to match his style of play

I genuinely don't think Pep is suited to international football.
You just don't get the time to do the heavy coaching he usually needs with his teams. International football is more about do the best with what you got and motivate them as much as possible.

That's why i think it would have to be Spain because a huge part of his philosophy is already installed in those player's brains. Maybe Portugal at a push but don't really see him being interested.
I feel like some of those quotes aren't genuine. Brophs one reads like someone sober typed it, for example.
How many English/Italian players has he signed over the last decade at City? I'd take that as an outright indicator of the appetite he could have for either role. I.e. none.

Half the England team was City at one point and I've suggested Pep for England years ago, would've been a great fit, not sure what you mean in your post about not signing any English players.

I didn't say not signing any but genuinely asking how regular/prevalent and their characteristics.
Off the top of my head I could only think of foreigners as his key system players over the years and a fair few "young stars" he let go without bothering much at all (e.g. our shiny Dortmund turd and Palmer). Only John Stones came to mind as a classic Pep player and he isn't exactly a typical English CB.
Your list actually feels a bit like a bunch of cogs/bit part players, not ones he built around. That said, it would be an interesting exercise to work out what a Pep English starting XI would look like. There's quite a few players that would fit in well having thought about it.

One of the few annoyances City fans had about Pep was that he didn't seem to prioritise Derby matches in the same way we did.

No idea. Just seems a weird angle to suggest he wouldn’t work with England because he hasn’t signed English players in the past decade. He’s signed plenty of English players so I don’t really get the point. Pep has proven to be extremely adaptable in his approach during his time in English football. Just look at his last team vs some of his earlier ones. He’s not restricted to any one type of player at all.
Me too. It would be very interesting imo. According to people who worked for barca in balagues book, the barca b job was supposed to be extremely difficult at that time, but pep succeeded. Perhaps they were just bigging up pep.
I think he is too Pro-Cataloninan Independence to be Spain manager. That said he is also a massive hypocrite so can't completely rule it out.

Hes very conscious of where he works. So far hes always been at places where he has the resources to win and being able to mold things into his way. Therefore if hes gonna manage NT its Spain he would go after in my opinion because Spanish players fit him like gloves on top of it being his own country. I dont think Italian football fits Pep and you cant just pick and sign players... its a rather fixed squad. He can change things for the long term and build things ground up but why bother? Spain would love to have him he only needs to say the words

I agree he has been more adaptable at City, that's probably the hack that kept him interested in the job for ten years.
Of course he has had English players being at an English club, but they have been comparatively few. He has been far more inclined to resort to homegrown players he can shape and drill from early on (e.g. Foden, Nico O'Reilly, Rico Lewis). Stones and Walker did fit his base template so he signed them straight away in his first year. Can't think of any good signings since bar Guehi which was with him already on the way out.
Adaptable or not, there are certain required foundations, both technical and in tactical discipline, which are clearly massively relevant to him and out of his immediate control as a NT manager.
Maybe he has the appetite to engage in a long-ass grassroots project while sipping wine in Italy. They have missed three WC in a row so has a low bar to deal with. I don't think so, but I think it's even less likely he will engage in that for England with the pressure that it brings along. Been there, done it, he is not walking into that nightmare unless he has a very clear view of how he can get immediate results with existing resources.
What does a Pep England XI look like today? I have a hard time fitting the pieces with any conviction. Too many very good "same type player" and not much glue to bring it all together. Mind you, not just a Pep problem.
