Has anyone watched the latest City documentary on Amazon Prime?
Actually felt sorry for Guardiola during it, as we all know when City were going through that awful spell 24/25 he looked awful, the scratches, the divorce etc it all looked to be taking it's toll.
It sounds like he should have left a season or 2 earlier, but especially with that run he didn't want to leave them in a low point.

I dont think moments like these should be filmed. Doesn't matter if this particular one is genuine or not. We should have not agreed to participate in that Amazon documentary.
I think I agree with you on this. My local site showed a snippet in which he tells them about his divorce (during their bad run) and is on the verge of tears. This should not be filmed for public viewing. Another scene shows Walker fighting back and asking why he always picks on him, and he appears to be completely broken.
Yeah there were a fair amount of tears. De Bruyne when he was basically told the club wanted rid of him looked in bits as well, and when you see him with the family it's easy to forget that these guys are people and family men as well.
There was a couple of bits of decent insight, like the fact they acknowledged there was noise about Cherki's attitude off the field and showing the background checks they did with former coaches and 1 did actually come back with a bad report although the rest were fine and that's why they decided to proceed.

Don't have any sympathy for him moaning about his divorce when I've heard that one of the main reasons they split up is because he was too obsessed with football and signed a contract extension with City when she didn't want him to.

In any case I posted the clip because Pep was seemingly going through it, not because of the caption.
On another note, I also think Pep is extremely manipulative, but I also believe it's a trait of all great managers.
The main thing I take from this is that he definitely stayed too long at City and shouldn't have signed that extension.
Great manager, like Klopp. But (as many United fans already said) Klopp got tired after less than 9 years, Pep after 10 years. Fergie lasting 26,5 years at United and leaving with league title was amazing.
Exactly. And yet there are still some who think Pep is better than Fergie.
Also Fergie had to do it at the biggest club in England unlike Pep who was at a club that gets basically ignored in comparison.
Plus Fergie had to spend within his means, and didn't have a blank cheque available every single transfer window.

Yeah, seems like a pretty respectable disagreement to be honest, when emotions are high after a loss.
On a side note, it surprises me how bad Guardiola is at speaking English after living there for ten years and working in the language every day. When he speaks it's like he's still directly translating spanish phrases.

I watch that and think it's sad that Pep, who is undoubtedly one of the most talented managers ever, choose to gave his best years to a club that is accused of the wrong doing that City are.

Eh, not really. He failed drugs tests twice as a player so his reputation in my mind was always in the toilet.
It wasn't anything egregious but if you think you're being singled out unfairly over and over it's something you should take to the manager privately imo. The dressing room isn't an open floor discussion for stuff like that. Maybe Pep is someone who has specifically said that if you disagree with him speak up there and then. I wouldn't say it's the default at every club though, it comes across as unprofessional unless it's an agreement the manager has made with the squad.
Pep does not come across well in the clips I've seen. Yes he's very passionate and he will get away with some of it because of who he is. But he seems out of control and it's mostly uncomfortable.
I've seen previous clips like this from the docs a few years back and he is a different man. He desperately needed a break after his divorce I think.

Not to mention his Barcelona side were accused of bribing referees. He's always been a shady prick.

Isn't it? Players and managers talk about arguments and fights in the dressing room all the time. This is an extremely mild disagreement.
Obviously with shows where there are cameras, you don't know if you're getting the 100% authentic behaviour from everyone anyway.
Watched the documentary as it popped out on YT.. Aside from being tactically brilliant, you cant deny his passion and dedication. I also think his man management is on point and that players were willing to run through brick walls for him. Some mentioned he is manipulative but I dont think thats the case. I think the biggest difference between him and Ferguson is that Ferguson was much more stable and unfazed after years went by. This 10 year old stint at City pushed Pep to the very edge with the intensity he worked with. Honestly, am not even sure what is next for him or if there is some gas in the tank left. He will probably decide to come back after certain time but am also not that convinced it will be a success.

Its a different game these days. Fergie was never under the sustained pressure Klopp and Pep were under. I would love to know the average tenure of managers 30 years ago vs now. I imagine its very different. I imagine that its way more draining these days than it used to be.
I think @JPRouve once had a look at this and the difference was fairly negligible. But could be making things up of course!
Also, England should be in his ear imo.. international football at this stage of his career could be more suited. And there is both opportunity for him to get a break and getting a big enough challenge to motivate him after.
Should have made a move after the WC and got rid of that clown.
Still have a chance. The fact he is getting a much needed break is probably even better.

I agree, I just don’t agree he was manipulative in a good way, although it obviously got the job done.
But in this and in various press interviews where he offered to quit if he wasn’t doing a good enough job; it was like an obviously good looking person saying how ugly they felt, and how they were going to kill themselves because of how ugly they are. Just a cover for looking for attention and praise.
Watched the whole thing and I think he comes across amazingly and it's a shame that such an incredible character was wasted on that club for a decade.
