But if they go on to win the FA cup and the Champions League then it will be his best season at city.
Yeah, that’s true, that’s why I said, it’s CL or bust. If you spend that much money and you have that bench in a big game like today, you have to be disappointed with no major prize.

I just think he gets the plaudits but there is rarely recognition that he has unfair advantages. He wins the Carabao Cup every year because they are the only team capable of playing 50 million pound players in every round.

If you want the advantages and you want the best squad every year, then you have to win the biggest prizes.

And he is a very intelligent man, he knows it, which is why you get interviews like the one he did today.

It counts alright! But if you invest crazy money you need to produce crazy results. Look at their bench for the game today.
If they only win the Carabao Cup this season, it’s a failure for that squad. It won’t have been a good season.
You can’t have a whole bench of 50 million players and not be held to higher standards.
This season hasn’t been a good one and the Carabao Cup doesn’t even make a dent in that.
They swept almost all trophies in England in the past 2 seasons, They have won 2 this season already yet we are discussing being a failed season when they have a chance of moving to the CL quarters and still in the FA cup

Its like people just deliberately set these impossible standards for Pep so they can justify in their minds that he has failed. Since Pep got to England, How much more has he spent than Man Utd or Chelsea

Almost all the top clubs have multi-million dollar players on their bench but for Pep anything short of winning every trophy, winning every game, winning every game by a 5 goal margin is a failure.

For the sake of argument, are we counting the fact that they broke the rules to have the squad they have or not?

I have nothing against Pep, his Barcelona side were incredible. But he started with the best squad in the league and we don’t even know what he has spent in reality, but it is more than any other side, including a cripplingly mismanaged Manchester United.

What he did his 2nd and 3rd season was immense and City get credit for giving him the tools to succeed and laying all the groundwork. He is brilliant under those specific conditions.

But what is wrong with saying that this season hasn’t been a good one if they don’t win the CL? Surely, based on their massive resources and superior squad, they should have made a better fight of the league?

It doesn’t take away from his last two seasons to admit that this one hasn’t been good.

I've said it many times before he's a brilliant manager when he has everything going for him.

But my god full of praise for Ole and Utd before the game then afterwards they played long balls to James and martial on the counter waited for our mistakes.

Unbelievable sore loser if city won he'd be praising us.

No class.

Clearly he's not the same guy he was 8-10 years ago. When his City contract expires hope he takes two seasons off.

Apparently his post match presser was worse than the interview with Shreeves. Rubbing his face and bald head, slamming the table in front of him and giving arrogant answers to every question.

It's ok to be a sore looser, but c'mon man. This just make Pep look like a shitty human beiing.

You cant just try to ignore the interviews and press conference and pretend they dont deserve proper attention.

At least Fergie cared and gave them some honest truth, even when angry.

This is just pathetic.

What do we (as in every football fan) need to do to wind him up to the extent that he’ll stubbornly go another summer without fixing that defence?

No, the standards are the same as those for the great managers he is frequently compared against. He is talked about in the same breath as Ferguson, Shankly, Sacchi, Michels & Co so he should be held to the same standards as them. What all those managers have in common and where Pep falls short is that they were able to build teams. Pep has not taken that challenge on yet and has failed every time he's faced less than perfect circumstances.

United scored 6 goals against them this season and not one was on a counter attack

Not sure why Pep is feeling so upset by this result. Considering City are finishing second no matter what, this was a free hit before the cup games coming up. I know it was a derby but hardly anything to be to wound up by. He needs to choose his press battles carefully or he'll wear himself down.

He's not getting sacked. He might leave because of the european football ban, but he's not getting sacked.

I'd be surprised if he's still here next season. He's done his 3yrs or so, they can no longer dope their finances to let him splash another £300m in the summer and they're miles behind Klopp's Liverpool. His ego won't accept another season of finishing 20pts behind the leaders and losing to us on the regular. I'm expecting him to be at PSG or Juventus next season.

PSG would be perfect for him, because he can beat Le Havre 7-0 at home and look round at his staff astounded at how his team can be this good, like he did at Bayern.

Poor Pep. Needs another £200m this summer to up his possession stats by another few percent.

He is a great coach and he won't be sacked but his tactics and selection and even substitutions were bizarre. WHy not start with your most in form player Mahrez, why have Sterling play for complete 90 mins when he has never been good enough against us, what's the deal with those stupid short corners, why sub Bernardo and not Sterling? The guy was making school boy mistakes.

That's his shtick. He's a front-runner and he doesn't like it up him - IE - he can't handle true competition, his ego is too fragile for it.

Still wouldn't win the CL with them though :D
No, no, of course not. You can’t ask that of him with only 16-17 world class players. If you give him 500 million on top of what you have, he will smash the Coupe de la Ligue though.

Donated €1m to Barcelona hospitals and didn't make a childish video about that unlike other sportsmen / actors who donated nothing or only few thousands.

Been badly exposed this season. Needs to spend another £300m in the summer to stay relevant next season.
