Pep Guardiola Threatens to quit Man City

He'll take another year out and end up at PSG in 2027.

No idea how this man manages to get all his trophies, just an inspiration. Genius.

I don’t see him taking another club job. He’s 55, and made a lot of money. Maybe he takes a national team job, I just don’t think he has the energy for it and he doesn’t seem the type to bounce around clubs in his late 50s like Jose.

I think after a year off he'll do 4-5 in PSG then manage Spain.

He wants to manage in Italy one daу, but not now..may be in his late 60's.. after City he will take another sabbatical and then a national team..Guardiola has said some years ago that his dream is to manage Brazil in the future..

You can see Brasil wanting him as well. Especially if ancelotti can't deliver the World Cup next summer.

Not as many world class game changer players in his quad at the moment, and his system falls to shit. Interesting

He's a very average manager when he doesn't have by far the best team.
If he's average then what are Mancini and Pellegrini? Sunday league level?

He's obviously a very, very good coach who took City to a level nobody really thought possible (90+ points season after season)

He's not gonna shag you mate.

Do you think Pep is the sort of person to quit when he doesn't win the title, or quit and go out on top after winning a title? I feel like he's more likely to quit in the summer if he wins the league than if he doesn't win the league.
Think he'll go either way.
He knows there's only so long his rancid club can escape so many charges. And even the most minor charge will be enough points deducted to make the league very tough the season it's applied.

He'll be right out of dodge after this year.

Yes that feels a good fit especially if the 2030 World Cup final is confirmed for Madrid.....

He quit Barcelona after losing the title to Real Madrid

He’s right. It’s ludicrous to sugggest he’s anything but an excellent coach/manager regardless of the standard of club he’s been at or money he’s spent.

City simply wouldn’t have had the level of success they’ve had under Pep if they were managed by any other manager.

This is a silly claim, there are managers out there that wouldnt have won only 1 champions league in 10 years at City with the squad and ludicris resources Pep inherted, Pellegrini got them to the semis the season before Pep arrived and probably would have got them to a Champions League final a lot sooner than the 5 years Pep took

I genuinely hope he stays for a long time. I believe the problems are of his own making. When you buy attacking players like Doku, Grealish and Savinho who have the ability to take a player on and create chances and you neuter them to play your cowardly possession football. That’s on him.

When you buy midfielders and put them in defence or buy defenders and play them out of position or only buy them because they’re good on the ball and then bemoan that your defenders can’t defend. Thats on him.

The league has evolved and he had a free pass for years because most of the teams in the league (us included) tried to hire their own Pep to play this turgid football. Except he had a huge advantage because he could buy nearly anyone he wanted and if it didn’t work out, he could buy someone else.

Never seen Pep or one of his teams look so devoid of intensity or focus, to me it's clear he's burned out and going through the motions as a husk of himself.

Does he even have it in him to go on a run and close to the gap on Arsenal should they slip up? Methinks not.

I hope not, and I also really hope he clears off at the end of this season.

Sick of the sight of him in the PL. Football has moved on - he needs to as well.

Reports he was at a Pro-Palestine rally not long before the game. Guy's head has clearly gone. Am not saying high profile people shouldn't support needy causes. What kind of message does it send to the team & your employers though. Have a huge game coming up in a title race & your manager goes swanning off on a mission of mercy. Can't imagine SAF ever doing something like this. Would be lazer focused on his job, which he should be.

Am loving it TBF. He missed his perfect exit point after 23/24 season.

Some things are more important than football. You talk as if he was skipping training. Was that the case?

Not sure what the timelines are, but he spoke in Barcelona Thursday evening and missed Friday's press-conference as a result.

It's not really like a draw with Spurs was off the cards, given City's history against them and form this season, so it seems a bit of a stretch to say this caused the poor result, and it's even more of a stretch to present it as something the club and players would have been unaware of.

He feels like one of those that will retire rather than go to another club and struggle when he's actually got to fact even the slightest bit of adversity.

He’s definitely lost his aura and so too has his team. Feels like one goal now is all it takes to wobble his side and shatter the confidence. It’s lovely to see really

They have been outscored 6-0 in the second half over the last six PL fixtures. If teams can just stay in the match, they can up the energy in the second half and this current City struggles to match it. There isn't a good tactical solution to that problem.

I think its likely a number of things: They've played the maximum number of games possible across four competitions so far, playing in the Club World Cup might also have hurt them, Pep running the same XI into the ground during the fall, and also just having a number of players that either due to age or style have a tough time generating the necessary energy when they've already been overplayed a lot.

They are far from a vintage City side but I am not counting them out of any competition. If they can reset a bit physically they have enough firepower up front to go on a run of form.

Exactly. That was his Fergie 2012/13 season. One last hurrah from a great side before large parts of it needed rebuilding. Feels like he’s half arsing the rebuild and his heart just isn’t in it. He’ll be gone before next season, wouldn’t be surprised to see him quit before the end of the season if they go out of the Champions League and FA Cup and Arsenal disappear over the horizon in the league.

Is that real? HaytersTV doesn’t really scream reliability either.
Didn’t really know them before myself. But they have almost a million YouTube subscribers and seem to be the only channel that has already uploaded Peps press conference ahead of the Carabao semi final return leg:

The quote from the tweet comes at the very end.

Aye, as below, I legit assumed it would be fake. Pep and city complaining about spend
Poor lad, He's only got half a billion spent for him in the last 12 months.

Don't know how he copes.
Aye, I initially assumed it was fake because surely he won’t be that stupid (read the room Pep) to moan about spend?
