Phallon Tullis-Joyce | Signs a new contract until 2028

PTJ:
“I am really grateful to have this opportunity to continue the exciting journey we are on.“

”All of us in the team have ever-growing dreams of what we can achieve together. We want to keep making history and I am so proud to keep wearing the Manchester United badge.”

Matt Johnson:
“Phallon has been exceptional for us this season, both on the pitch as a keeper and, off the pitch, as an ambassador and leader.

"This shows the ambition of the club that we can retain one of the best goalkeepers in the world here at Manchester United.”

That's really great news. She's looked and sounded at home with us since she signed and I've loved seeing those glimpses she's given us of her off field life. This season she's had the chance to show us just how good she is. I'm chuffed.

She's a keeper.

I know, right?

Seriously, this isn't great news only because we'll have PTJ around for another 3 years, but because it shows that management recognized that it was top priority to have PTJ around for another 3 years.

I think you're right about that, and the statement.of intent from the club. PTJ is invaluable - I hope contracts for other players follow as I do not want to lose a single one of them.

Premature happy retirement wishes BTW

Thanks!

One of the (countless) perks of retiring is that I won't have to miss any more WSL or other UK/European matches because they conflict with my teaching schedule. Sadly, though -- and perhaps ironically -- next week is my last week of classes, and one of my classes conflicts directly with Wednesday's United/Chelsea match. Feels like the door hitting me on the way out....

Ouch!

I have no idea what you teach, but surely an old hand like you could work the match into your.lesson plan? The Physics of Football; The Art of the Beautiful Game; The Social Injustce of the Disparity Between Genders etc.

As a retired teacher, that's what I'd do!

Anyway, back to Phallon ...

Haha, I see what you did there! She certainly is!!! Seriously good news though…

Most if not all professional footballers (and coaches) are also professional interviewees: They know how to say the "right things" about, e.g., taking one game at a time, feeling honored or privileged to wear the badge, crediting one's teammates and coaches, etc. But somehow, when Phallon says those things, it feels to me more sincere than with some other players.
