Hang on. He asked you for a funny non offensive chant , you said there were loads and then got a chant from a player who retired almost a decade ago.

That falls under "not funny" for me.

As I said before though, I think offensive chants about players/mamagers and offensive chants about a player's family are different.

I don't think anyone is saying that fans shouldn't be mean, just stick to the players.

and? Chants about players and other things aren't restricted to the time which players are playing. There are recent ones too, I'm just not going to sit and do someones research for them. We all know there are funny chants which are inoffensive.

It's a slur primarily aimed at women to say that they are promiscuous and that it's a bad thing. So it doesn't really matter how promiscuous the person is. Just like it doesn't matter what the Chelsea player does for a living when shouting rent boy at them, it's a slur either way.

Anyone googling his mum and making judgements based on her appearance, or her behaviour on those occasions when she's clearly been 'tired and emotional', should be ashamed of themselves.

Seriously though, it's not something I'd chant about. As others have pointed out, this is only a story because it's United. But I'd rather we didn't stoop to that level.

Spurs fans had the exact same chant at Old Trafford targeting Alan Smith about 20 years ago. Not a mention of it on the front pages. It’s a United story all right.

Regarding the chant, I’ve heard worse. Foden needs to have a thicker skin. It’s cruel for sure, but I don’t get the horror.

Foden hasn't said anything about it, has he? What makes you think his skin needs to be thicker.

Pep was asked about it in the press conference and said "yeah, it's not nice", which is the only thing he could've said.

Agreed, it was just embarrassing to listen to on the TV and is shameful for the club. I had hoped our match going fans were a bit better than this. Dont understand the hate Foden gets either. His dad was a United fan, is there some resentment?

The Wenger chant is what it reminded me of. "Your mums a slag" "you're a pedo", it's schoolyard stuff. Grown men finding it funny and defending it baffles me.

The Posh Spice one got 100x the coverage this one has.

The Park one also got a ton of coverage.

I've never even heard the Ozil or Zlatan ones.

The Lukaku one about his knob also got a lot more coverage.

All of those had at least a hint of humour about them as well. This Foden one is just calling his mum a slag, it's not even trying to be funny.

We're talking about chanting about a player's mum. There isn't a suitable term for her sexual exploits because the subject is unsuitable.

If you called her a scarlet woman or a strumpet, it would be a bit funnier at least because they are such ridiculous terms.

You could and they are. A chant’s offensiveness shouldn’t be graded on how much press coverage it receives. If the one about Lukaku was about the size of his manhood, that’s almost worse because that’s kinda racist.

Personally, I don’t get involved in any of this at the match. I don’t like it, but as I said earlier, I don’t understand the shock and horror. It’s nothing new.

With regards to Foden as a player, his form has deserted him. It has coincided with City losing their way. He’s a super little player, but he looks lost when his team isn’t firing. He needs to regain his confidence fast.

He’s never looked the same player on the international stage. I don’t think he’ll ever be a great footballer, but I wish he was at United.

How about Man for men, woman for women, that seems to work because the amount of sex other people are having is no one's business but their own.

I think his England struggles knocked him into a rut he's struggling to get out of.

Not getting the summer off either won't help cause he needs some kind of reset.

I agree. I was hoping we’d see Foden take his club form to the international stage. It didn’t happen sadly. The talent is there for sure. I think he’ll be glad when this campaign is over and a rest is required. Mentally and well as physically.

There are tons of words but they all would be considered insulting because that's how society sees it. Promiscuous is the closest to neutral you're gonna get in just one word.

Society can’t dictate to us! If Lily Phillips one day has a son who ends up playing football. I’d be very disappointed if the opposition crowd did not point out his mum was a slag.

His or anyone else's opinion, I'll always rate Scholes higher than both he and Lampard.
