He's done a Micah Richards.

Even if he wants to play, his knee cannot hold up anymore at the highest level.

Jones and Tuanzebe- two players to have disappeared into a void! Really odd how nothing is spoken of them
The Axel one is a mystery.

Jones isn't the strange, it's clear his career is over and he's been told to stay away. What use would he be being there now anyway, I bet over half the squad don't even know him personally and maybe some wouldn't know him if they even seen him.

Bruno has been at United 3 years and doubt he really knows him.

I am convinced there is something underlying there. Mental health or a more serious medical condition and the club are just doing a nice thing and letting him see out the contract with dignity. He's never struck me as someone who would take the piss so I think he's just fecked mentally or physically. Like others have said he doesn't look right.

Exactly what I was thinking, if you looked at his eyes, he looks mentally very fragile. Wish him all the best.

He said he feels good and is doing everything he can to get back out on the pitch so I doubt there's anything physically or mentally wrong with him a the minute. He was probably injured for a long time and we have 4 CBs plus Luke Shaw so not in EtH's plans. I doubt there is anything more to it.

For God's sake change the picture on the thread. If we are mocking our own player, it does not reflect well on the forum.

Whatever we may think of him, he is still a Manchester united player right now

Brave of him to go on Tv as a pundit after the game. I thought he looked terrible. Like he’s lost a lot of weight. Feel really bad for him. Poor guy.
I personally hold no ill will towards him. He gets a lot of grief from the fans but he obviously didn't want his career to go this way, and it wasn't his fault Woodward kept renewing his contract.

He's 31 now I think. He might have to drop down a league, but I hope he goes somewhere and does well for a few years, maybe become a bit of a cult hero for a club.

He deserves a bit of football now, before he calls out a day.

I'd say his comical facial expressions and ridiculous moments like that iconic head tackle were actually highlights of his career here and I'd much rather if he's remembered for a silly face/bravery than for the fact he's played less than 20 games since 19/20 season, after he signed a new long term contract. His career didn't work as planned, grave mistakes were made by our management, there's no point to criticize him for this but let's not get ridiculous with over-the-top leeway and outrage over a mild joke.

I do think that much of the online criticism he's been facing has been too harsh and he's been unfairly blamed for his inability to stay fit and I also do think that there were many other players, United or not, that faced similar pressure and criticism and were much less protected/defended than Jones. In another thread another poster made a decent comparison to Pogba, who like Jones can mainly blame his crocked knees for not reaching the full potential, and he would never receive such a leeway nor be protected here on the basis of mental health. It's all anecdotal and based on what I see here, on Twitter and in the media, but one could say there was much more empathy towards pale-faced Jones saying he's fine on the TV than towards Pogba being blackmailed by his own brother.

The octopus tackle is still one of the greatest moments in Premier League history. I’ll always remember him for that.

There is a serious blood disease going on which causes clotting. At risk is more than his career if it’s not sorted.
we can see clearly now how much weight he’s dropped. The lad is clearly going through the worst possible times

I don't think we have registered him for PL nor Europe so the few dreaming of watching him for United a last time might be dissapointed

I reckon he’ll retire in the summer
He's already retired mate. He's not at the club anymore and he's still contracted.

He's obviously told them his intentions and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he is hang on to his contract for a loyalty payment he would lose if he was paid off early. No club in their right minds would entertain giving him a contract now.

It's the moment of the season when he or another backup CB could be very useful... all our hope is in Shaw returning to fitness early and not paying the price of being rushed back

At this point, I think it's time to wrap it all up.

Sometimes you are just unlucky with injuries and there isn't really a lot you can do about it. He isn't the first talented player to have a career cut short by injury, and he won't be the last.

Once a player develops a chronic knee problem their career is on borrowed time. I feel bad for him but will also be relieved when he's finally released.

Just saw the pics of him from his TV pundit turn, he looked to have lost a lot of weight and don’t look well.

Don’t know what he’s going through, but got to feel sorry for the lad. At best he has had a whole career wrecked due to injury, that’s hard to take.

All the best to him on what he does next.

The decision to award him that 4 year contract was so completely and utterly ridiculous

I wish him all the best. Of all the crazy decisions in the Woodward era, awarding him that the new contract in 2019 is probably the most bizarre.

We should definitely renew his contract. He’s been so loyal for the past few years and is an asset to the club. I mean, imagine him lifting the CL trophy as our captain in 2025? If somebody deserves it, Phil Jones is the man.

The Length of service was an issue but he was coming off the back of making the WC squad , playing twice and had over 20 appearances in season 18/19 when he signed.

Is this the most tragic performance thread in the history of the Caf?
It’s only 6 pages long, and that’s 6 pages of mockery and pity. :(
Maguire must rival it?

Every time he comes on I joke that he’ll cost us the match, but then he actually does
