He's outlasted one and will hopefully outlast the others, as that'd mean the club is sold within the next 6 months

He sure is a legend at United. No one will forget him. And no one will remember him actually playing on the pitch for United too.

That crawl to head a ball 2 inches over the ground will never be forgotten.

Same, The only thing I remember about Ashley Young was a bird shitting in his mouth. Great moments

Phil's time at United will outlast us all. He'll still be haunting the corridors of Carrington for decades to come.

He has 7 months left on his contact. We have option to extend for a year but that's not going to happen.
Maybe he'll do what he did last time. Come back in February time, put in 3 or 4 excellent performances, sign a new contract and then declare himself permanently injured again.

In all seriousness, the length of that contract last time was ridiculous. Can't work out what the club was thinking and why Ole allowed it.

To be fair yes the contract was way too long but back then he wasn't permanently injured and unavailable, just regularly injured and unavailable. It was Woodward's decision doubt Solskjaer had a say in it.

This is likely true, however we all remember the handshake picture with Ole beaming. He brought Ronaldo back too. So all vitriol must be directed his way!

Genuinely one of the biggest legends our club has ever had. In about 20 years there will be 22 year olds that don't know about players like Carrick, Evra, Casemiro, Martial etc but you can guarantee they know Phil Jones

We need to activate that +1 on his contract so we have time to get a full renewal sorted.

To be fair, Ole was still an interim at the time the extension must've been decided upon (if I'm not mistaken).

Not that it would have made a difference I think. Ole did as he was told for the most part it seems.

He needs a testimonial when he retires. Phil Jones XI vs Legend XI. Featuring Ronaldinho, Kaka, Ronaldo de Lima, Del Piero and Darwin Nunez.

I thought Anderson did well to cling on as well as he did. He looks like an amateur next to big Phil.

The fact he isn’t mentioned by the official site for the Spanish tour says it all.

Woodward’s a fecking imbecile to have given him a four year contract back in 2019.

When ask by Ed Woodward how long a piece of string is, Phil's response was "five years" and so the story begun.

He is the rocks of the eternal shore. Crash against Phil and be broken.

I wonder what's next for him. No club will take a chance on him so straight into coaching? Assuming he's been productive during his injuries and done his badges.

Maybe he's too hurt by all the mockery and ridicule to want to stay in football.

After a carreer of living by his natural ability and wits, he should give himself up full-time to the profession of forgetting. He should put an end to some emotional attachments with have long outlived their purpose. Namely Manchester United, his house, his whole past. He should sell up and buy a cottage, in the Cotswolds, I think. Steeple Aston sounds about right.

There he should establish himself as a mild eccentric. Discursive, withdrawn, but posessing one or two lovable habits, such as muttering to himself as he bumbles along innocent pavements. He shall become an oak of his generation.
