He should be killed.
In this day and age, a 'tackle' that would've been disgusting in the darkest eras of defending, should warrant a lengthy ban.
The picture still of the incident is tamer than the video - it was a true potential career ender of an assault.
In your opinion, what should Pickford be getting for this? In addition, what do you think he'll actually get?
It's "clumsy" in the unnerving sense of Pickford not operating with a full deck for him to even lunge into it. Some part of him should be checking his action, but nothing lights up inside.Think there's a bit of an overreaction here to be honest. Was a terrible tackle and really should have been punished at the time with a red etc etc but it was clumsy rather than malicious imo. Just panicked, as he's prone to do.
I know that's no comfort to Pool or VVD but talk of retrospective 8 game bans etc is daft imo.
That is going too far. But maybe something like this.He should be killed.
That almost looked like a scissor tackle which aren't allowed are they?Tweet

Replays for those who have only seen stills.
Well it’s basically a two footed tackle isn’t it, which is a red. That almost looked like a scissor tackle which aren't allowed are they?
He has to be punished otherwise he will do it again and again.Tweet

Zilch because there was an offside in the phase of play.Red and pen as well, what was given?
It’s not an absolute, for sure, but, on average, an ACL tear is less painful than many would expect. I’ve had bad ankle sprains that hurt more than my ACL tear. That sucks that yours was painful for that length of time. That's highly individual. Some people just walk off without much pain others, like me, are in excruciating pain for days.
No clue just saw that on twitter when looking for yesterday’sRed and pen as well, what was given?
Different incidentZilch because there was an offside in the phase of play.
Yeah, but this was against Dele for feck’s sake.Tweet

This is my view on it.It should be a retrospective red card which is 3 game ban. You cannot prove intent so under the rules surely it cannot be a longer ban. It was a horrendous tackle but rules should be consistent until such times as they introduce different weighted bans
He does need to grow a few inches, so this would probably be to his benefit. That is going too far. But maybe something like this.
I don’t know what you’re suggesting?Yeah, but this was against Dele for feck’s sake.
It is, but they used that for not then reviewing for the penalty. The offside should have been given first so they didn't bother with what happened after.Different incident
Don't ask.I don’t know what you’re suggesting?
Let’s be realistic there won’t be a season ban. Precedent for season bans is jumping into crowds and battering Crystal Palace racist fans.If Everton are lucky he will get a season long ban.
Nothing really, just a bit of sarcasm.I don’t know what you’re suggesting?
In the one on Dele 2 years ago?It is, but they used that for not then reviewing for the penalty. The offside should have been given first so they didn't bother with what happened after.
Also, they sent off richarlison after he blew the whistle for the first foul. It's just a monumental feck up by the VAR officials.People can be sent off after a final whistle so the fact it was offside or whatever bears no relevance in my opinion.
You can tell its Sunday when people are bored indoors talking about preferring broken bones to ACLsNo worries, brother. Broken bones are far easier to cope with physically & mentally & can be played on if they aren’t load bearing bones or one’s pain threshold is very high.
Game had essentially stopped for offside so it's as if it didn't happen.wait, VAR didn't do anything for THAT?
that's fecking hilarious
Exactly. It does call into question the human aspect of people checking video. Is it really any better than the referee making a decision on the spot? I’m not sureAlso, they sent off richarlison after he blew the whistle for the first foul. It's just a monumental feck up by the VAR officials.
Ferguson would have.Begs the question on why United were not complaining to FA about the Martial red card?
Simple - we are used to being hard done by.
If you want to change the rule book, that's fair enough, but tackles like that tend to result in 3 game bans.“He’s clumsy, he didn’t mean it. There’s no intent.”
If you throw your full weight in a flying scissors tackle at literal knee height, it doesn’t matter what your excuse is; that is not football. That should be completely outlawed from the game and severe punishment meted out for anyone executing it.
I bet the reactions wouldn’t be the same if VVD was slumped with a double fracture for the exact same incident.
Probably because you're an Everton fan. If a goalkeeper did this to one of your players like DLC you'd be wanting blood and I think the majority of football fans want answers because VAR is fecked this season with zero consistency and this incident has led to a serious injury. Guarantee he won't get a ban though, he's an England International, this will get swept under the carpet.Stil lnot sure why this is being singled out. It was a terrible challenge that should result in a 3 game ban. Don't know how/why it wasn't a red in game, but then again I don't understand a lot about VAR.
