What strength team should we play in the final rounds of the Europa League?

The Prem have already said they are giving teams who compete in European competitions in August an extra week off for the start of the new season.

I agree with playing the second team in the Europa, give the first team time off to fully recharge, take advantage of the extra week too.

Unless.....The kids/second team get to the semis/final of the Europa then its worth playing them for the trophy as we're that close.

Let’s rest our first team, sure, vs Lask! Then we play our best players and win the cup.

2nd String vs LASK, then it'd be just two games to trophy. Our first eleven could manage two games.

Now that champions league is secured.

Don’t think we should bother with the Europa league. Yeah it’s another trophy, but we over used our starting 11 and they all need a break.

Would give some of the young and fringe players a go.
Helps with seeding in the CL draw. Plus the players need to get used to winning stuff. We can rotate more, but we really need to give it a good go.

The big names will get a rest up to the Germany games , so a couple of weeks, then they will get some rest before the season starts.
they have to stay in training though, that’s different from sitting on a beach for a few weeks recovering.

Except a lot of the second string might be on there way out of the door. Ole apparently wants to sell most of them.

They just had 3 months off, its not the length of time that makes the difference - its the quick succession of games that was the problem. (2/3 days rest). That's over with now so Europa should be fine.
They did have time off but then have played basically nonstop since. Obviously it matters that they have had to play so many games in such a short time. They need to recover. No need to play many of these players with the new season looming large.

The next game sure but after that we should try and win the competition. Don't understand this thinking..

Same nonsense for the FA Cup game. Why do people not want us to get trophies?

It's 3 bloody games. LASK game is already in the bag. Lets go all out.

No, feck this cup. I want the first XI completely well rested. There's barely any pre season whatsoever because of covid, and we will be at a huge disadvantage if we train our first XI hard for an extra couple weeks.

To be fair, we looked knackered after the FA Cup game, that almost backfired.

I suppose it's time for Ole to start adding to the trophy cabinet...

The juggernaught is back to its feet...eyes raised to it's target...charge! :keano:

Win the EL now...beat the CL winners in the SuperCup

Kids for LASK game, and possibly half the first 11 for the Copenhagen/Istanbul tie but could be bloody Wolves in Semi so bring the first 11 back. They would have had a 3 week rest.

Play some kids and back-ups at LASK since we're leading 5-0 but we go for the trophy. Gotta give players the taste of winning trophies to carry into next season.

Doesn't have to be our best 11 until the final stage, and definitely give everyone a rest for the first game, but why would we rest players for the rest of the tournament? This is a trophy worth winning and we don't need to rest players. It's not like they have other games to be ready for...

100% agree, I wouldn’t play any of the first 11 for the Europa. Can’t expect to play up until 21st August and then start a whole new season on 12th September

Weakened team against LASK but best possible side after that. It's a trophy, so let's win it. It's a good habit to get into.

Play the U14s vs LASK for all I care - it's 5-0!! Honestly, after LASK we should play a mixed squad if we draw a weak opponent but we need to go for it against the stronger teams. Winning this trophy can do wonders for not only building a winning mentality in the players but also our manager who hasn't won anything outside of Norway (as a manager of course).

Our squad is clearly burnt out right now. Its not like we are in a normal circumstance. They've been playing every 48-72 hours for a few weeks now, and the Europa League games will be more of the same.

You think we can do full pelt and then have no pre season going into next season? Really?

its 3 games - with a 2 week break now and an adequate break in-between games. Whats the problem?
