Rooney is such a great example. Did it with Everton with the wonder goal and then came here and hit a CL hattrick.

Hard to burst onto the scene as a non goal scoring player, people probably don't remember if a young CB had a good game as opposed to a striker.
He's already been mentioned, but John O'Shea did just that, and ultimately, because his debut was so great, the rest of his career felt like a letdown relative to it as he looked like he was going to be an outstanding, two-footed, marauding full-back.

Tunazebe's peformance vs PSG, could've been the beginning of something special... unfortunately, he's a product born in the wrong era as he looks like he'd be a monstrous man-marking specialist.

Wayne Rooney is the obvious one. Burst onto the scene with Everton and then burst onto the scene again for United. Can't remember a player doing it twice like that.

Hamez was another who kind of "burst onto the scene" but in an international level with millions of people watching.

Pele at the 1958 World Cup.

17 years old, scored six goals in four matches, including two in the final which Brazil won.

I know he has been disappointing the passed year but can't beleive noone has mentioned Anthony Martial - probably the most memorable debut of recent times.

He had already played in the champions league and helped knock out Arsenal for Monaco so he wasn't so unknown but he did burst onto the Premier League scene with his debut

Guess you are correct as he did play champions league - although doubt most United fans would have heard of him prior to the transfer, either way he certainly did burst onto the world stage with that goal against Liverpool after all the press negativity about over paying etc prior to the game.

Noticed Keano didn't bother sprinting back . . You'd think Pogba inspired him :wenger:

For Rooney, you'd probably add the "burst onto the international scene" with his Euro 2004 performance. Seemed completely unfazed and was a bundle of joy and creativity in that team.

Would anyone say that Michael Johnson and Stephen Ireland burst onto the scene around 07-08? A lot was made about them around then if memory serves me correct...

Don't think so. I remember seeing it on C4 back in the day. Had to had to wait years for it to surface on YouTube to watch it again.

It's just a great goal.
Either way it was fantastic. That mid to late 90s Juve team was awesome. Probably underachieved in Europe, only winning one of those three consecutive UCL finals.
