Gaming PlayStation 5

Replaying HZD and Jesus it's way more clunky than I remember, constantly getting stuck on stuff during fights or Aloy deciding to jump different distances for shits and giggles. The machines swarming is relentless in some areas.

The climbing is also janky as feck.
Is this the remastered one?

Just read that Saros had a budget of 70 million and is allegedly not selling that well (very early days mind). I’m playing it now and it’s a very good game but I don’t really see it making a big impact as it’s such a niche genre. I hope it’s not a flop, as I said it’s really enjoyable.

This is why we don’t deserve good things

Then again, not sure it Returnal sold well either

I tried going back to the remaster but I just couldn’t. FW is such a huge step up in nearly every way (I know people prefer the story of ZD). Loved that game.

Modern gaming. It's also getting a lot of shit from the usual lot about the storyline.

But, I also think they've priced and marketed it wrong.

And as I said all along, they changed it to suit the wrong crowd. The problem isn't the gamers, it only becomes that when you listen to them and chase sales. It's a very good game, it's up there near Returnal as the best on the PS5. But you don't get sales by pandering, Sony have once again fecked up on this one.

I urge people to buy and play this game, it's fantastic. But on sale, because in these days I don't think people will think a punt is worth it.

Yeah, I have jumped to my death about 20 times without a shield wing

Just about everything bar the story is better in FW. Humans are spongier in FW which I don't like, but the human to human combat has always been naff.

Even the machine highlighting and stuff blows in ZD.

FW just has more weight. It’s the best looking game I’ve played and its side quests, facial animations, combat and traversal are a huge leap over ZD. I was impressed by how much they improved the visuals in the remaster but I have a lot of fondness for FW so it’s impossible to go back. I’ll do a NG plus run with Burning Shores a year or two later.

I saw the Pushsquare article about Saros, but the article forgot to include that the game had only been on sale for one day, which is probably why it was low in the charts.

Still, £70 is a lot of money for a roguelite game, and they really should rethink their PC strategy for games like this. I can sort of understand wanting the big titles exclusives, but for niche games like this, a day one release on PC could make a huge difference. Returnal had more hype behind it, but that was probably because it was the first ‘new exclusive’ for PS5 as I am not counting Spider-Man DLC or Demon’s soul.

Nine Sols is free on PS Plus this month. One of the best Metroidvanias I’ve ever played and a must for anyone who loves Sekiro.

Got the plat for Saros. I did not think I’d be getting anywhere near that considering I couldn’t get Returnal’s platinum as much as I liked the game.

Thinking of trying Mixtape and have preordered Directive 8020 or whatever it’s called (another cheesy Dark Pictures game- a guilty pleasure)

It is most likely too expensive for what the game is. £59.99 RRP would have been better.

I loved Returnal, but I know it wasn't a game for everybody. Everybody knows Saros is made by the same developers, and it's basically Returnal 2. Albeit, an easier Returnal 2.

Sadly, I expect Housemarque to get shut down, because Saros won't sell enough. The game could have done with a simultaneous PC release. An already niche game being an exclusive is probably not the best idea.

What’s up with that game? There’s people claiming that the Ellisons(his daughter runs the publishing company) have paid for reviews. I was interested in it from the reviews, but then I saw the gameplay or lack of gameplay, plus who runs the publishing company and it’s not for me.

IGN gave Mouse PI a 6, whilst they gave this a 10. I prefer Mouse, but each to their own. I enjoyed the telltale games, but I would not class them as GOTY or 10/10 games. For me a 10/10 game would be something that’s strong in every department. I am not a fan of any of these sites just throwing 10/10s, which they seem to do these days. I thought Edge magazine used to have the scoring perfected, but then they turned into idiots @Redlambs.

Oh, it's completely paid for. I do like Annapurnna, and I will at some point play this, but it highlights just how bad the "review" industry is. They used to far better and just going about their business by letting their quirky games speak more for themselves (though they were never strictly "indie"), but now it's just blatant.

Then again, I've been saying it for nearly 30 years (crikey) now. Edge in particular sold out that long ago. And I can tell you now, that isn't guesswork...I know for a fact what they became very quickly around the late 90's into the 00's.

Hopefully not. But yes, fecking idiotic not releasing on PC and charging full price on PS5. Also, as I said, they just simply have no idea how to even market it.

I'm still going to complete it, but to be honest I'm a little bored of it. Contrary to what other's have said, I don't think the gameplay is improved enough to stave off the clearly worse level design and story. It's still a very good game, and I do highly recommend it, but it is what it looked like all along a watered down Returnal and in the wrong areas. However I respect that other gamers disagree, after all some of the changes (like warping to levels) actually does work and improve some aspects...however even that makes the game even more unbalanced than Returnal was.

But again, hopefully they at least break even and can push on. Knowing Sony though, even if they made £100m they'd still likely get the chop at some point.

I don't trophy hunt, but I did hear a streamer say there's an Expedition 33 homage trophy, where you have to complete 33 expeditions (so it that effectively bosses?) with at least one balance modifier on. Did you actually do that one you madman?

I think Housemarque should be safe for now.

It’s Bungie who should be worried. Such a pointless takeover because they thought that they would lose COD. The management of Bungie are incompetent, and Sony has two choices, take control or shut it down.

Considering they have now run into even more shit with Marathon today by allowing a streamer to blatantly cheat and get away with it (and we all know they pander to those dickheads anyway), then the sooner something is done about how bad they are, the better.

Yes I am that madman…, although there are two trophies you can cheese and that’s one of them. Basically every boss respawns and you can fight them infinite times…but what if there’s a way to skip the level entirely and just head straight for the boss and grind upgrades all the while the game records you as beating the level  .

The level skip exploit is available after act 3. They’re bound to patch it at some point as it’s very cheesy.

Mixtape is…alright, not bad but yeah it’s just a less interactive Life is Strange. The music was the big appeal for me and the 90s nostalgia which I have. If you don’t have that then you’re probably not going to enjoy it.

How do you make a less interactive Life is Strange? I liked Life is Strange but I would have thought a less interactive version of it is a movie?

There aren’t really any dialogue choices like in Life is Strange, or story consequences (or the illusion of). There are mini games and you can investigate the environment but that’s about it. It’s basically just a cheap 3-4 hour story with a cool soundtrack. Not for everyone.

Another price increase :(

Just finished Directive 8020. Decent game if you like Until Dawn type games but definitely wait for the sale- not worth 40 quid. I couldn’t be bothered to get the platinum.

PS plus price increase. I suppose this what happens when there’s no real competition. @esmufc07.

Ongoing market conditions is such a load of bullshit. It costs basically nothing to maintain, which is why it costs nothing on pc.
Were greedy cnuts and reckon we can squeeze more money out of you would at least be honest.

Pathetic decision.

Plus with the price rise, and the intent on milking customers more to cover the memory costs, it's clear the path Sony are taking.
Yep, something like Saros could have used a PC release. Look at the money that Horizon 6 is making with the early access on Steam and it’s just silly to leave that money on the table. I am surprised they haven’t released Gran Turismo on PC.

They did a half baked run on PC with games not running well and no day one releases. They still managed to make a decent amount of money. Saros looks like it has flopped, so PC sales would have helped them and not have them close another studio due to market conditions.

We are replaying all the Dark Pictures games atm. The lack of Online Co-Op for 8020 is a real downer. It was fantastic playing co-op story.

Bought it a couple of days ago to play with my daughter as she loves the vibe. Theres no game there at all. It's a nice little story but would have been better as a little animated series or movie or something. It's like a telltale game without the game.

Yeah, Saros really needed a PC port. Sony screwed them.

It's probably also down to not being able to charge PC users for online gaming like they scam the PS players and less control in general.

Not really sure why it doesn’t have online co-op this time. I’d recommend it on sale as a single player game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is free on PS Plus Extra/Premium at the moment for anyone that doesn't have it.

Apparently don’t have the staff numbers to make Destiny 3 right now. I guess they are banking on Marathon.

They are one of my favourite studios, so do not want them closed. But their management is hopeless, and made MS and Activision look competent.
