For me personally yes. As I like to sell my games as soon as I have completed them or got bored of them. Trade them to CEX and use the vouchers to get other games.

Fully expect Xbox to go fully digital as well. It's like when the banks introduced the automated chatbots on support, everyone hated it, but all other banks did the same.

Same. I always sell narrative driven games after I have finished them, and I’m usually able to recoup 80%+ of original price. It makes a huge difference.
Microsoft have an open net here so naturally they'll come out with something even more daft. Like their digital games will be deleted after you complete them.
I've been playing Doom Dark Ages. It's an absolute hoot and at times a power trip as you mow down all the demons of hell. Only got to stage 7 of 22. Really enjoying it. Though not a fan of the giant mech stage or the flying dragon stage. Guess they felt they had to try something new.
Still nothing Doom wise tops Doom 2016, it's back to basics gameplay and the chainsaw were epic.

Playing Elden Ring and I hate Maliketh! What a wan*er.
Ahhh, the boss I didn't end up beating. Need to go back and finish this game off. I could get past his first phase with a mimic tear. Though I lost my mimic by second phase. Got my arse kicked. Repeatedly.
I couldnt beat the NPC nearby who drops a blasphemous Claw, which staggers him for a second.
Superb game.
He’s in my nightmares at the minute. That 2nd phase is insane speed for my 48yo brain and fingers.
Anyone preordered Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol 2 ? Out at end of this month. I'm only interested in playing MGS 4, as its the only big MGS game I haven't played as I never owned a PS3 back in the day.

Being able to find better discounts and sell titles you only play once makes gaming more affordable.
I understand that digital is the future and not just for gaming. But billions dollar companies can afford to at least produce them in small quantities (although they’d become expensive then). Given the response, people still care about physical discs so I feel it’s one generation too early, this move. Maybe it had to be done in phases.
I’ll obviously continue gaming and buy GTA6 (2/3 years later, not bothered right now). Nobody gives up something they love because the medium changed.
For power with lower income it is. I always ask myself when finishing a game whether I'll be replaying it any time soon, if not if i sell and get 70-80% back. With steam you can always find better deals at g2a and cd keys etc. Its not comparable to PlayStation store.
I do sometimes get better deal on the PS store - like RE4 remake which I just got for around 7 dollars but it can wary and resale was such a great option.
Now with the subscriptions, I've stopped buying games that I might later sell. I just buy the rare marquee title on disc.
Do you think Sony will make those deals better or worse when they have complete monopoly over the playstation game market?

It's not a bad move from them financially because they know a lot will buy it anyway. It's a bad move for the consumers though. However the trend is always to make everything more expensive. The increased baseline cost for new games was explained with that more is expected of games now so development costs are more. But the market is greater than ever. When i was a child and a teenager, only nerds gamed. And only males mainly. Now its completely mainstream. It's not just nerds and its not just males. So there are more consumers than ever and they the companies make a fortune. Ai should drive down development costs but i think prices won't be lowered.
The only reason i say i won't boycott the PS6 is because gaming is very important to pass the time and get some enjoyment. Because of chronic illness im on a disability pension and it's very limited how much i can participate in life compared when i was healthy. Otherwise i would just boycott the mofo's.
I'm resigned to upgrading the Blasphemous Blade over 10 and my Faith to over 50, then get all some additional talismans and buffs AI is telling me !
I dont preorder games, dont see the point. A lot of Konami's remasters have been dogshit so i'd be particularly wary in this case. I guess if its the only way you can play MGS4 even a bad remaster would be worth it.
Nor do I. However I'm wondering if this will be a limited physical disc run like the indiana Jones game was. That was 2025 release and it's still £60-70 used and new.
Interestingly, article by Edge magazine saying that AI data centre costs and the knock-on effect of cost of components for the PS6 is on of the main drivers for getting rid of physical discs by Sony.

I eventually adopted the Blasphemous Blade in my first playthrough, but I don't think it was much help against Maliketh. He flew around too much for the ash of war to hit reliably.
On that first playthrough I absolutely hated Maliketh. Needed a fully upgraded mimic tear to beat him. I played through a second time last summer and he's become one of my favourite bosses in the whole Fromsoft series. I know how "git gud" this sounds and I don't mean it that way, but once you clock his moveset he's genuinely not that hard to dodge imo. My opinion on a lot of the endgame bosses changed drastically second time around.
Except Malenia....that remains pure bs.
I was probably a bit overleveled for maliketh. Or maybe picking fights with him at the beast temple set me up well for his first phase. Always struggled more with the knight outside the boss room.
Yeah think I need to max out my mimic tear, he’s not a low level but does feck all.
Fully maxed out Mimic Tear makes everything much, much easier. With a reasonable build it'll solo most bosses or get close to doing so.

I’ve been building a samurai bleed build with nagikiba double slash level 150 with high Vigor/deterixty.
But switching to increase Faith to get most out of the Blasphemous Blade.
Grab Rivers of Blood, its basically easy mode.

It helps obviously. Its more the moveset than the damage though. That whole area is pretty good for leveling i think?

Do you have Tiche unlocked. She basically makes fighting every boss easier.
That's my own personal answer to this as well. When I go back to elden ring, going to get tiche unlocked. Also then have to level tiche up.
At that point, it will have taken so much time, I might as well keep fighting maliketh until I get gud. Sigh
