Gaming PlayStation 5

Unless they changed things I found Maliketh to be quite the stroll compared to that optional one at the end of the tree that spins around and gains wings after beating the first phase.

It's been so long since I played now that I can't really recall names that well, but I used some wolves as summon and the sword that drops from the boss in the castle on the peninsula in the south for almost the entire playthrough.
 
15 mins of gameplay of Silent Hill Scotland (townfall), out this September. Looks pretty good and not a deep fried mars bar in sight.

Faith/strength with Blasphemous Blade was my first playthrough as well. It's awesome. Gives you access to so many buffs through incantations as well. I used the sacred blade ash of war on a heavy claymore for bosses resistant to fire (there's a few in the DLC) .

I also used the fingerprint greatshield most of the way because my reflexes can't keep up with these games either.

Just upgraded Mimic Tear to max, Blade is level 10, just need to increase Faith to 50, then grind till I get lucky.
 
@Bebe

Beat the bugger! Some reason it came together and took him down fairly easily with a maxed our Blasphemous Blade and Mimic Tear.

Now on Elden Beast, will take a few more goes that one.
 
Recently downloaded Banishers : Ghost of New Eden. A semi open world, action RPG from DontNod games.

Whilst the combat is just OK, bording on slightly janky, the writing and dialouge is stellar, and the voice acting is just as good.

If you like choice based, third person RPG games, then you'll enjoy this. Especially considering just how well written it is.
 
Back on PS after 15-20 years. Was on Xbox up until 6 years ago (still have it but not arsed to power it back up, only on it as mates were but none of us game like that anymore), was going to trade it in but the Series X price jump means I’ll let it gather dust a little longer and may sell it or trade it in. life and kids took over for a bit so it’s the best time to jump back to PlayStation, had it up until PS3. Doing up my house and now have an office / sports / game room I can close the door to and get away from the little monsters

007 bought also always loved splinter cell and hitman type of games. will likely get GTA and will see on FC27 (clubs and career). Spider-Man 2 also downloaded for the craic as I took out an extra sub to see if I use it.
 
Feck me, Doom Dark Ages out stays it's welcome. Probably weakest of the trilogy. On level 17 of 22 and I'm so bored. Just trying to push through and finish it.

I just finished it and must admit it's at least 3-4 chapters too long.
 
Looks like I'll be switching over like I did for the 360. I'm old school with Disc. But for 900 quid for the new xbox, think I'll just still with my PS5 till the prices go down in 2034

What new Xbox? That's not a new console, that's a Series X with a paintjob.

The new console will probably be 1,500e+
 
It's a nice little feature for the One and Series X but that new Xbox boss won't even confirm if the upcoming system will have a disc drive.

This is interesting but I'm noticing that it says 'one revocable digital license' in the small print, so presumably that means only the first instance of that disc gets the digital version?

Nintendo used to do a loosely similar thing with their gold points, which you could redeem for points off your next digital purchase, but only once.

Still, it's a great move because it gives a tangible benefit for buying new rather than second-hand.

It's my favourite game of all time, I know it'll be like the masterpiece i played relentlessly. 18 long fecking years...where did the time go. I have one of the fondest gaming memories of this game.
 
In case people missed this. Ghost Recon Wildlands, yes that game from 2017. Just got a visual upgrade for next gen consoles. The PS4 version can be picked up for a fiver at places like CEX.

Apparently it's one of those games that's very good when played on the harder difficulty settings. Also still has a bit of following even 9 years later.

If you own The Witcher 3 for PS4 or PS5, you’ll get the remastered version for free when it comes out on September 29.

The two Witcher 3 expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, are now free on the PlayStation Store.

The expansions are even free on PS4 if you have the base game — though the Remastered edition will only be available on PS5.

Upgrade on Xbox Series X|S​

If you own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Xbox, you’ll be able to download The Witcher 3 Remastered for free from the Xbox Store on September 29.

The two expansions are now free on the Xbox Store.

I wonder how this would apply to, say, a used copy of Gears 2 that I purchased from a local shop last week. Will it's "first instance" count as whoever first used the disc way back when, or would it be the first instance after Xbox implements this new feature?

Either way, this only goes further to me seeing my Series X as a pretty solid back-compat device well into the future. Now if only Xbox would expand the back-compat capability to the rest of the library....

I do think they should reconsider this and climb down from their position. I say this as somebody who spent days packing all of my physical games into boxes in preparation for our house move. I fully see the plus sides of going digital as storing generations-worth of games can be difficult, as I have found. However, I love knowing that once I have a physical copy in my hands, nobody can take that away from me and the choice is all mine. I can't wait until the day my son is old enough to play my N64 and we can go through the classics together. In a world where there are numerous subscription models for games and film with no sense of slowing down, I am becoming more and more dubious of digital.
 
Good luck if you think Xbox is going to be 100% physical (even currently there are plenty of games that don't get a physical Xbox release but do get a physical PS5/Switch 2 release). Whole point of the converting disc to digital thing is to help people when it gets to the point where disc drives will no longer be a thing for them so you can convert the disc game to a digital licence.

Can't see Sony reconsidering. Most there'll be is the option of a detachable disc drive (won't be in by default to reduce SKU price slightly)
 
Is it worth getting a ps pro. Just bought a new tv and want to get the maximum out of my games.

I’ve already got a ps5 that has no issues whatsoever but tempted to upgrade to the pro? Waste or should I do it.

Have you got £790 quid spare?

Places like CEX only giving £300-£350 for a PS5. So even if you traded your PS5 in and took the cash from them, you'd still need another £490 quid for ps5 pro.

I've got the cash but not sure if it's worth the upgrade or not. It does seem excessive considering there's nothing wrung with my ps5.

Just rent a PS5 Pro and plug into your TV if you see a difference on the games you're playing. There must be some comparisons on YouTube as well but I'd do that experiment myself. And I'd be curious about the results too so please share them here. I got a Pro a month ago as there appears to be shortage of supplies here in Poland (otherwise I can't see any justification of another 200eur price increase last month). But I'm buying for GTA specifically (got a new projector too), while now playing Crimson Desert. There are many many complaints about CD running poorly on base PS5, while I'm having a wonderful experience. But that is an anecdote and might not work for your games that much.

Ive done some youtube reawrch and its pretty 50/50 some say its worth it and some say its not enough tp warrant paying around £800......my reasons would be similar to yours I want it for GTA.

My friend does have a pro I might see if he will let me borrow it for a week

Yeah good to check with your equipment (and games). For GTA apparently there will be no difference in how the game runs between base/pro versions, although I find it hard to believe (especially as R* seems to be Sony business partner, so 6 is a system seller if they make it better on Pro).

PS5 pro prices are crazy but I don't see this getting any better so this is probably the right moment to make a decision. Worst case scenario you sell it at get base PS5 from second hand market, you might even make a few quid on that.
 
I’ve left it too late to get a pro, especially with the price hike. I might as well just wait for the PS6 at this point.
