If I were Ruben, I'd be playing this and showing it to the lads every day until the final.

Definitely. They should enjoy the night and the load off their shoulders but we have to be really really switched on. We scored a few goals against Athletic, but I'd say at least half of them are well connected to them seeing a player go off with a red in the first game and Casemiro killing their hopes with a slightly fortunate set piece goal.

We can definitely win it against Spurs, but it will take a much more focussed performance than the one today. And when I see people writing off Ugarte, then I personally think he should be the first one on the team sheet because if he isn't on the pitch, Spurs will run rings around our midfield.

I don't know if there are any Athletic fans on the caf, but they should be proud of their team. I've always had massive respect for them, for their policy of playing Basque players only.

I know Bilbao were pushing more towards the end, but Amad, Mount and Shaw coming on raised the technical floor immensely and I feel that had a big effect. We didn't end up losing the ball stupidly all the time and everything clicked.

The final team

Hojlund
Mount Garnacho
Dorgu Bruno Ugarte Amad
Yoro Maguire Mazraoui
Onana

I know Maguire has been trending these past couple weeks, and rightly so, but that pass for their goal was classic Maguire, I’m happy he’s got some closure on the trauma he’s had here but he’s not good enough for us to become a real force.

I hope De Ligt is back to replace him for the final

We've somehow contrived to lose to this utterly shan Tottenham side three times so far this season. Which shows you how poor we've been.

Not again please. Bring that trophy back to Manchester.

When this team plays with confidence we a joy to watch.
Special mention for Yoro who I thought was brilliant tonight.

Last 20, definitely. Spurs would be out of sight by half time if we start the same way.

Weird, weird football game, didnt manage a shot on target for 70 min, then once that Mount goal went in we just looked unstoppable.
Bilbao got one shot on target all night and that came from a Maguire error. Defend like that and get a impact off the bench then United will win the final.

Fantastic evening at Old Trafford and we are into another European final! First half was tight but don’t think we should have been behind, at the start of the 2nd half they absolutely battered us and it was tough to watch. Amorim’s subs made a great difference and helped wrangle the game back in our favour.

Now we need to recover and get prepared for the final. It’s going to be a very difficult and nervous game.

I've missed Amad so much. He is our only fleet of foot skillful player.

Mount is looking sharper and sharper. So glad for the goals.

Yoro and Maz were immense on defense.

Maguire better get his act together for the final.

We know Hojlund can't play any better so it is what it is.

I'm starting to understand the complaints about Dorgu. Physically, though, he has the tools to be pretty good.

I would love to know Garnacho's conversion rate when 1v1 with the keeper. I'll be it's about 20%.

Almost all of the starters were lower than a 6 for me, Casemiro, Bruno the outliers, very hard to rate. The subs were so spectacular

Of course I'm really happy with the result and the play of the last 20 minutes BUT why is our passing so terrible? We must have the worst passing accuracy in the league. How often do we pass the ball directly to the opponent? Sometimes we do better and pass the ball into open space but then the opposition is usually faster to the ball and we lose it anyway!
As others have said - I'd be tempted to start the final with the team that ended this match but then where would we find impact subs?

Hi.

An Athletic club supporter here.

Just want to say Congrats. You've better in two matches and you deserve the final game.

Just want to wish you all the best and hoping you'll beat the Spurs.

If there us anything I can help you with in your next visit to Bilbao for EL final game just let me know.

Credit to Amorim for changing the game with the subs. Brought energy and speed to the game

Amad and Mount were exceptional. Mounts 1st goal was very Macheda-esque

Same as that. They played magnificently tonight. Sang at the end. Beautiful club and fans.

Does anyone know what the story is with Rio? Is he unwell? I missed him tonight. Scholes and Hargreaves did well. But Rio has stage presence. If he’s unwell I wish him well.

This is why subs can make such a huge impact, they’d watched how to exploit the opposition. Bringing them on with half an hour remaining was vital and a good decision from Amourin

Thought for the most part we defended really well. Apart from showing he's not a top keeper for their goal, Onana had nothing to do really. You always worry about us doing something daft, but the game was fairly comfortable.

We just lack intensity at times, and it seems to be a mentality issue as much as a physicality one. For 70 mins we never really looked particularly troubled but neither did we look in control. The changes obviously made the difference. So credit to Amorim.

I can't believe so many people (commentators and fans alike) struggle to understand the psychological pressure of starting a second leg 3-0 up, particularly when you are massively low on confidence and have a propensity for shipping goals. I actually thought the first half was going pretty much to plan (sit back, hit them on the break) until they scored a complete worldy - Dorgu was getting so much time and space, and but for some poor decision making we could have had a couple of goals between him and Garna. People seem to forget that we were playing the team currently in 4th place in Spain, who rarely concede and were having to throw the kitchen sink at the game - Darren Fletcher (TNT commentator not United director) seemed incredulous that United had not simply scored early and controlled the game!

Apart from the scoreline and the enormity of reaching the final I thought there were positives all over the place tonight. When we broke they couldn't handle the overload, Dorgu got into some brilliant positions - not for one minute suggesting there will be the same outcome, but I would say he's been better in his first half-season at United than Evra was. Yoro is going to be absolutely top class - what a signing he will prove to be. Amad looks to have picked up exactly where he left off, and we look a different proposition with him causing havoc and keeping the defence occupied, Mason Mount showed what he can offer now he's fully fit, and more minutes for Kobbie and Shaw. Great stuff.

7-1 on aggregate against Bilbao = much better than most were expecting. For us to win was unexpected, if you had listened to the pundits before the 1st leg.

Get in there.

That blitz of goals was fantastic. Delighted for Mason Mount with those goals and performance.
