PL D FA Premier League

Bournemouth 2:2 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

It’s one thing for the referee not to call that penalty against Amad, it’s quite another for VAR not to correct the mistake. Completely changed the game.

Frustrating having led twice though the outcome of course was influenced by the ref and VAR.

That said, once Maguire gets sent off I’d have happily taken the point.

Referee is a twat.

I knew VAR wouldn't have the bollocks to recommend a review after Bournemouth scored. Cowards.

Ref stole it from us. What can you even do about something like that? I don’t often moan about refs but that had such a huge impact on the game that it’s hard to ignore. Happy with the team’s performance.

Robbed. If the game goes to 0-2 we see that out. It shows how useless VAR is when their desire to protect the ref's ego overtakes the need to reach the correct decision. And it has potentially cost us three more matches. I'm worried now that with no senior CBs left, our defense will crumble. Absolutely shambolic refereeing.

The ref wasn’t good enough and Carrick needs to highlight his performance.

But they are a team we just match up very poorly against. They are very fast, mobile and direct and we get exposed by teams like that. Casemiro was out of his depth and we can’t keep picking Amad and Mbeumo they way they are playing.

If we can beat Leeds it will be a decent point, we won’t win every game and might only need another 10-11 points now.

I hate Bournemouth and that their tight little ground. Take the point but I hope the team have this in their minds when we play them next season at home and batter them.

Complete farce. Just let AI officiate games please, enough is enough.

Shite result, shite Ref. Carrick should rip them apart. That's the least things he can do. Other managers will cry wolf for that referring

People need to be less annoyed at the Amad decision and more annoyed at just how ridiculous that was from Harry Maguire. What an absolute nugget.

Should have had a penalty which would have negated their equaliser.

Theirs was a pen, but the contact from Maguire was still much softer than the foul on Amad, who was thrown to the ground. And if ours was given in the first place, that exact sequence of play leading to the pen and red card doesn't happen anyway.

By far the better team up until the equaliser. Shite.

What is the point of VAR? If VAR is not afraid to overturn the decision by referee then there is no purpose. If Carrick wants to be the nice guy in the post match conference, I don't think he is suitable to be made permanent. If it is Alex, he would be fuming. Feck VAR, gutless decision makers behind scenes. I cannot understand why he doesn't blow for a foul on Amad and let VAR do it's job. He allows the play and Bournemouth scores.

Played well first half and were cruising but just couldn't score.

Second half we lost a lot of control. We are still quite porous in the middle at time when we lose the ball. Having some sort of offensive threat from onw FBs would also be a nice change - trying to remember when we last had that.

Everything is relative though. It's night and day better than ETH and Amorim.

No identity, not actually sure what the game plan is.

Outside of set pieces, we are truly awful. Ball gets swiftly moved up near the final 3rd, players are then passing it all the way back to the center backs.

Pressing is crap. It's always one player leading the charge, everyone reacts way too late, then we are over committing causing easy triangles to be pass around us.

At this current moment, I am not Carrick in.

Bruno is soooo good… Honestly think it was a good performance by the team in general. Unfortunately not clinical enough in first half. Bournemouth has like 1 goal conceded last 5 games before this. We created plenty in first half especially.

Ref scared to give 2 pens in a row. Think thats a clear mistake by VAR. The ref is close, but the arm usage is kind of hidden behind Diallos body from ref POV, so wouldve been worth a rewatch from different angles.

You mean their first goal? Points still stands though. At 2-0 the game is maybe over.

Can genuinely say screwed by the ref in this one.

Still, a point keeps us in third no matter what. All seems to be leading up to the Chelsea game. Let's hope we have enough of a buffer then to not worry about the result.

Another period of slipping into a passive team cost us, we do it every game, have periods of time were we just sit back and watch them play around the edge of our box till the create something. We need to be more aggressive all game not just for half of it.

I hate VAR with a passion and that game has not reduced my ire. This one’s on Carrick though. Casemiro should have been hooked much earlier and our inability to keep a clean sheet is becoming a worrisome trait. Cas was giving the ball away too many times and it was bound to cost us. I also don’t get the Kobbie hype. He’s not doing enough for me. Take the point and move on but it was a great opportunity to put the pressure on the chasing pack.

Thing is, it's United. If the manager calls out the ref thr punishment for us is far harsher than other clubs.

Should have been 2-0 up and coasting. Ref makes it 1-1 then Maguire makes the most boneheaded decision ever to level it. Thank feck we got a point.

Jamie Redknapp “it would have been harsh”.. feck off you prick, it’s a penalty.

Not enough contact and would be incredibly harsh says Redknapp. Waiting excitedly for what he says about the Maguire one

We really needed the 3 points today as we have a bit of a tough schedule left with Chelsea away and Liverpool at home.

VAR bottled it because Bournemouth went and scored straight after.
I don't get the logic though. A goal is even more reason to go back and give it, it's just an even bigger story because of the goal if you don't

Not sure I actually disagreed with those decisions, painful as they were, and we asked for trouble after both times leading. Fair result.

The players looked shell shocked that the Amad penalty wasn’t given, they seemed to stand off Bournemouth players a bit more.
