PL D FA Premier League

Bournemouth 2:2 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

I honestly don’t think people watch the matches. Mainoo was the best player on the pitch.

You are not being serious. Please explain.

Passing? Tackling? Getting us to play? Controlling the tempo? Creating chances?
Dominating possession? Inspiring his team mates? Stopping the opposition?

I didn't see Mainoo do any of this. He didn't play badly, but he wasn't great.

Luke Shaw was imo our best player. He was excellent.

Never understood why the attacking player never gets looked at for diving. Yeah, Maguire touched him and the attacker immediately goes down. Pathetic.

I felt like Bournemouth didn't do anything...never felt like they'd score and I felt like we should scored in the first half. Sigh.

As disappointing as that was to drop 2 points, after one of Lammens’s saves or collecting a cross, I had an out of body experience imagining Onana still in goal. That would have been a 6-1 route for them. Or seeing Amorim in the dugout and not Carrick - it froze me. Yes, today was disappointing but still so much better than it was.

He’s stood half crouched 10 yards away from Amad and he’s clearly considering blowing up and then he just freezes. It’s the body language of someone bottling a decision. If he thought it was a dive he would have moved his arms to indicate no foul but instead he just runs off.

Thought maguires was the softest of the 3 penalties.
Was a good performance overall, never been the easiest match up for us and we managed them better than usual mostly. Couple of refereeing 50/50's killed us.

Atwell screwing us for the second time this year after disallowing Licha goal against Burnley. I will admit we didn't create enough second half though. Not usually someone to blame officials but frankly that was diabolical performance.

Thought overall a draw was probably fair.
But who cares about fair right?
We should have scored in the first 25 when we were on top. Should we have started Sesko? I think so.
When I first started watching football no way would any of those pens be awarded.
Well possibly Cunha's but I'm not sure.
The ref clearly bottled the Amad one.
If he hadnt already given us a pen a believe he would have given that.
Bottom line is we didn't have a shot on target after the Bruno pen. Not good.
Still could be a valuable point.

I wonder if Sesko isn't starting because if we do then who is there to come off bench and make impact

I mean in that case mbuemo comes on and you'd think with his running against tired legs maybe that helps. Or in that case maybe go a 442 or something and have mbuemo playing off sesko if we are desperate for goals.

Need stop tryna blame ref decisions etc etc

We were shite
We basically are shite and will be until big changes made.

I once said david may is a better defender than Maguire will ever be and I stand by it. However Maguire has always dug deep give his all etc but still he is shite. He turns like a lorry and it was a pen and red all day long.

Casemiro looked shattered (understandable with age) unless a masterplan next year we will struggle.

Shaw had a decent game few decent deliveries, we bring on Sesko and they stopped.

Bruno was even below par but every great needs a support act.

Carricks first big test was last week getting a result vs villa after his first loss. Here’s his second Leeds in couple weeks with possibly no experienced centre back.

Mbeumo has been poor for a while but has not been dropped. Sesko, who has been in great form, sits on the bench until he is brought on as an impact sub. I think he should have started. We could and should have won that game, even with a bent referee in charge.

I don't think I've complained about a referee costing us a match in at least 7 years. But this result is a severe black eye on PL refs and the PL.

I wonder if the PK is given if Bournemouth doesn't score. It just seems that played a part with the VAR decision, and that's disgraceful.

It's time Man Utd hierarchy or Carrick start protesting loudly and calling out blatant incompetency of referees. Man Utd was robbed of 3 points in this match.

United need to complain about Atwell that could cost us CL football.

Go all in, fines whatever, Amad should have had a pen then they go on to score.

feck the REF. feck VAR.
Yeah I wish we would file official complaint on him and while we are at it go for Pawson as well
No identity, not actually sure what the game plan is.

Outside of set pieces, we are truly awful. Ball gets swiftly moved up near the final 3rd, players are then passing it all the way back to the center backs.

Pressing is crap. It's always one player leading the charge, everyone reacts way too late, then we are over committing causing easy triangles to be pass around us.

At this current moment, I am not Carrick in.
Just ignore the complete robbery then that took place which would have negated their threat afterwards. Yes we lack control in midfield but at least call out the utterly disgraceful decision making too.

Those saying the two penalty incidents were identical are incorrect, there's definitely more deliberate contact on Amad than there is on Evanilson...
Robbed!

Robbed. If the game goes to 0-2 we see that out. It shows how useless VAR is when their desire to protect the ref's ego overtakes the need to reach the correct decision. And it has potentially cost us three more matches. I'm worried now that with no senior CBs left, our defense will crumble. Absolutely shambolic refereeing.
Hopefully Licha will be back for Leeds, however if he's not then you have a very valid concern about senior CB situation
Poor. Referee did fine, not going to jump on the victim United bandwagon. Need to win more. Carrick simply isn't winning every match.
WOW didn't know Redknapp was on the CAF, cannot believe posters on here happy to put the boot into performance and Carrick but ignore the robbery.

Felt like we’d have won the game if it stayed 11 vs 11.

Draw is fine. A bit of a poor second half after dominating most of the first- Probably not a coincidence that Casemiro was good in the first half and looked exhausted in the second half and we struggled. Unlucky with the Amad penalty call.

Ultimately I don’t think this result will count for very much at all come the end of the season. Home form is where we will get the top 4 and I’m very confident about that.

On a side note Bournemouth are pretty decent team. Their attacking quality wasnt great but they opened our midfield up a fair bit.
How is that decision remotely unlucky, jeez

Only saw the highlights.
Strange game. We looked in top in the 1st half. Amad should have been given a penalty for maybe 2-0. A different game then? Who knows but it feels like 2 points dropped.

Yeah Arteta or Guardiola wouldn't hesitate at all, we should all be United on this complete robbery but doesn't seem that's the case looking at some posts in here unfortunately.

Klopp would have gone ballistic and we wouldn't be hearing the end of it how this was day light robbery against Liverpool. On the other hand so many decisions have gone against Man Utd this season and our response has been mute.

Yeah absolutely bang on, at least Carrick used strong words like crazy and mental in post match interview. He was never gonna go full Arteta post Newcastle a couple of seasons ago and brand it disgrace

Mbuemo is beginning to become a selection problem.

Shoehorned to play striker where Sesko should be playing. Not dangerous when played out wide where Amad has been better recently.

The brutal truth is we aren't gonna control games, particularly away from home until we sign two new starter CM's in the summer. Hopefully this game has shown INEOS what Scott could offer next season.

Yeah he definitely is becoming a selection issue, that's now three league games we have failed to win before a break which is becoming an annoying trait

I will sum it up like this - if we beat Leeds at home, this will have been a good point. That means we will have 58 points with 6 matches remaining - and we realistically only need 7 or so points in the last 6 games to get C.L

If we don't beat Leeds, this will not be a good point.

Exactly this.

We have not got our front men formation sorted yet.
Carrick needs to sort out the best 3 man combination he can get from the collective strengths of Cunha, Amad, Sesko and Mbuemo, and how and when to play them during the match. Yesterday playing Mbuemo as a 9 with straight balls ( rather than down the channels) was never working.
Obviously the 10 man situation limited his choices, but changes should be made when they are clearly not working.
For large parts of the first half we were dominant and should have been at least 2 up before Bournemouth even emerged as a threat.
Lots more worked to do before Leeds game.

Win at home / avoid defeats away.

That’ll do!

Would’ve been happy with a point post game but the way we were robbed and that reg performance just spoilt the mood. We might be 5th by the time we play next and hoping Villa, pool and Chelsea drop points

We were not shite mate. We were ok. Not best but ok. Shite is like a 3/10 performance and a loss. We were unlucky and robbed by the ref. We will still be 3rd after the weekend. How's that shite?

So true. It was very Mike Dean.

Imagine bottling it at the fecking Vitality Stadium.

Deservedly ahead and in control of the game until Attwell decided he didn't want the 'controversy' of giving us two penalties. And then Pawson bottled sending him to review it because it would have meant cancelling their equaliser. Neither of them were strong enough to make the correct decision.

Massively frustrating but a point isn't a disaster. Win our home games, keep things ticking over away and we'll be fine.

Horrible ref performance and there need to be consequences.

However, to concede and switch off like we did is unacceptable. We had too many players with an off day that needs to be fixed. Only Cunha Bruno and Mainoo did well the others let the team down
