PL L FA Premier League

Brentford 3:1 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

Sat, 27 September 2025

I’m just waiting for Amorim’s post match interview, to hear him say that we’re making progress, but it’s just moments and individual mistakes.
He’s bound to say he’s sticking to his plan and the team must do better……..

TAXI !!!

.

Can someone teach me how to handle this pain. I can't do it anymore.

There was another moment not long later when he made a defensive header under moderate pressure and there were three players in acres of space, two United blokes and one Brentford and Maguire headed it straight to the Brentford bloke.
Yep, there’s something every other minute. We make something as simple as a throw in seem ridiculously difficult.

The malaise permeates everyone and every thing.

We even had instances where Brentford were delaying the restart of the game, as you would expect given the scoreline, yet no United players were even bothered enough to complain or badger the ref into getting a card out.

We’ve become passengers, which is the worst thing that can happen, and usually a sign that the manager has lost the dressing room.

He just comes across as mentally weak and insipid. Can't watch pens, hides in the dugout against League 2 teams, offers his resignation on a monthly basis.

What about this man suggests a leader who can take this club forward? Saying what the fans want to hear?
Totally. What kind of example does that set as a leader??

Seeing any hint of managerial ability would be good
We've created a lot more than last season. We've conceded less chances than last season. Two big metrics that are an improvement from last season.

Our attackers don't score goals as evident by the highest xG in the league yet only 1 goal per match as a result.

Our goalkeepers keep giving away goals.

The refs keep fecking us over.

Which one of those statements are things that the manager has influence over. Which ones can he do nothing about?

So mad how almost everyone, players and coaching staff alike, that has walked through the doors in the last 10 years looks so bereft of ability.

This is the most dramatic i have seen a whole squad regress. Every player looks awful under this management. Hence my take on the boss.

Nice fella, get out.

I'm not defending him any more as some of his decisions are baffling, but we could bring in prime Fergie and he'd be undone by these owners and this dressing room. Until we get rid of the players who have been through multiple managers, there's no point.

We always hear this line and we are usually only talking about 2-3 players who have survived and been important players. We’ve seen a massive amount of turnover in the last 12-18 months and arguably downgraded in many positions.

This squad only has Shaw, Bayindir, Bruno, Maguire, Dalot as players who’ve been here for a long period. Maybe you include Casemiro. I don’t really think that group is necessarily toxic or anything.

We saw with Ruud’s interim appointment last year that some back to basics stuff would go a long way to improving results. There will always be a question mark on how to go from that improvement to challenging for the big prizes but let’s cross that bridge when it comes.

The only club in world football capable of putting in a worldie performance and dominate the likes of Arsenal, City and Chelsea yet lose to likes of Brentford and feckin grimbsy town..

Our xG is hugely influence by game state and missing two pens.

There is nothing to like.

Amorim out . After that tripe he has lost me. It is the english so called premier league. They can't even do any of the basics of football.Absolute rubbish from start to finish.

One moment summed it up for me. Start of 2nd half Brentford launch a ball forward, De Ligt is heading it without any challenge or pressure and instead of heading it towards the middle of the pitch he heads it out allowing Brentford a thrown in exactly where they want it.

This is when we know we need to start the 2nd half fast and full of aggression. We give Brentford a minute to launch that throw in for absolutely no reason. I don't think this is something a manager should have to tell his players. They should have that much bloody common sense not to gift momentum to the opposition to do the exact things they want to.

We have a bunch of players who pretty much every other game seem lost on the pitch. Every other team we play against seems to know exactly where to be to win knock ons and 2nd balls but somehow we are never there. Half our throw ins actually end up gifting the opposition the ball.

The first touch and ball control of half the team is atrocious. Bruno spends half the game gesturing at others to get where he wants them. Surely that can't be helping his teammate if they constantly have Amorim and Bruno giving them instructions. Let them just play!

And this is despite having all week on the training pitch! I really don't see how we come out of this pattern if so far we haven't even been able to get the absolute basics right.

I’m not sure you can blame the owners. Let’s be honest here. We’ve bought Cunha, Mbuemo, Sesko. 200m of talent that most managers in the league would want. We have Bruno one of the best in Europe as a number 10. Mainoo a talented midfielder that had at least 10 offers, Newcastle, Chelsea you name it. The owners have brought in Heaven, Yoro two extremely talented centre half’s. We have a new keeper sitting in the stands. It’s not the owners.

Call in a Management meeting tomorrow!
Sack him on sunday and bring in a caretaker!
Next game is in 7 days against a Bad Sunderland followed by 2 weeks break - perfect timing

The penalty miss was a big blow, but the delay between the award and the actual kick ruined it. That's not football; it's pandering to the TV audience. That awful ref cam has to go too. Damned near gave me a migraine. That said, I can't see what Amorim's overall plan is. There's no consistency and no clarity in what he's trying to do and him sitting staring at the ground like a manic depressive is not helping matters. We lack leadership - competent leadership - on the pitch, in the dugout, and in the boardroom. Who'd have thought someone could come in and compound the mess the Glazers made?

Apart from how laughably fecking useless we are as a team, the game itself imo is going to absolute shite as a spectacle.

Never ending VAR delays, shit refs, diving, shit formations, slow pointless pass after pass, on and on and on. What used to pass as entertainment is a fecking endurance test these days.

Pens influence xG? No shit. Why is that a negative? Do you remember why we got the penalty? Because we were denied a clear goal scoring opportunity. What was the punishment for it? Nothing. Ref completely fecked us yet again this season. The games are close and they keep getting influenced against us by sheer incompetence that we have control over.

What about the other factors I mentioned. They don't matter?

I wanted Amorim gone in January but I can see clear improvements this season. Last season our performances were bad and the results were bad. Now we have individuals with poor performances but overall we have not played badly.

I know it’s a bit of a “Chinaman is not the preferred nomenclature” situation but the yellow shorts also look awful.

There is nuance though.

Higher xG has been partly caused by having three penalties in six games and of course missing two of them. As well as racking up chances in losing games (chasing the game against Arsenal and City). There has also been some low xG achieved with high volume of efforts. Are we actually making really good chances and missing all that often?

Bayindir has been selected. Should Lammens have been given a go? We won’t know until he changes or the new coach does. We do know Bayindir is crap though.

The refs isn’t his fault as such but he never says anything about decisions either. You can draw attention to these things by calling it out. Klopp managed to get our penalty count slashed during Ole’s time.

I do think there has been some improvement to our forward play. The biggest thing is why we start with such low intensity in so many games. We smashed into tackles against Arsenal but looked like we were out for a jog today. Why can’t the manager get consistent effort at least?

We haven't put in a worldie of a performance under Amorim ever?

This Amorim football is more boring to watch than Van Gaal passings

That's mostly us and a few other teams from time to time. The other big teams do quite well when it comes to entertainment.

Even if you take away all the pen xG (which there is no reason to do) we're still massively under performing.

……yet no United players were even bothered enough to complain or badger the ref into getting a card out.

That’s the only thing you said that I disagree with ….…strongly.
I firmly believe that sort of thing is wide open to cheating and undermines the ref’s authority.
Anyone asking or badgering the ref to produce a card, should get an instant red, no messing!

.

Our tactics are cross /take a throw in and see what happens

Patterns of play are for big clubs

Terrible performance, I was in the United end for this and the atmosphere was rotten after the penalty miss. Everyone is utterly sick and tired of it. This fanbase is amazing and deserves so much better.

Regarding that penalty, I can’t fathom how it wasn’t a red card for DOGSO, it was clear and deliberate. It might not have mattered. Despite the disjointed performance I don’t think we’d have lost if the penalty had gone in, and may well have won the game, given how much of a confidence side we are. But it’s no excuse.

Arsenal at OT, we dominated them from minute 1 and made their so called world class midfielder in Declan Rice a passenger. That was our best performance of the season for sure. Against City and Chelsea, we played well as well.

Bruno takes most of the blame. If he score the penalty, United will draw or win. Last goal was scored because we were pushing everyone up to get the equaliser. Bruno is never captain material, and bald idiot made him one. The next game doesn't matter to me anymore, we will get trash by Liverpool. I hate seeing 3 CBs passing the ball amongst themselves without the ability hit the ball over the top or cross field pass. Opponents always recover in time, our passing is too slow and players are static.

Will the fans boo the team or is that just a no no

Add choreographed corner routines, massive long throws, and booting the ball straight out at kick off in order to get the press on as well. Turd
