Brentford 3:1 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

Not even angry about the result anymore I'm not for sacking managers, especially after losing away to City that can happen, but away to Fulham and Brentford were similar games and to get 1pt out it. What that tells me is the team can't do it away.

And imo the main issue is trying to play Bruno and Cunha it don't work its iether or. With Casimero and Mainoo CM or if you want to play both go 4-4-2.

I hate how Dorgu is always our widest left player on attacks, we are crying out for a rashford type player, cunha comes way to far central

Didn’t see the match, stunned by the result because Brentford are a relegation level team. What happened?

The usual.. you’ve seen that match a hundred times already, we played into their hands. The referee was a joke and the keeper threw the ball into our net.. do you really need details anymore?

Just from the eye test though there doesn’t feel like we’ve seen loads of guilt-edged chances missed. The kind of chance where ‘player x must score’.

Regardless of xG we’ve also generally been bad for years at maximising our chances. Cunha today had a great chance to slip Bruno through and took a poor shot instead.

You shouldn’t need to coach players to make the right choice for the team.
I think we have actually. We've had 1v1s, not hitting the target from the 6 yard box, free headers. Our main problem is not being able to get Sesko or our forward on the end of those chances.

When you put it like that, I feel like I’ve seen it, yeah - cheers. The personnel change but the performances don’t. Amorim is unsuited to the position he finds himself in.

You're right. It's no longer about the football, and heaven knows that's bad enough , but the game has morphed into something akin to reality TV.
Yeah exactly, there's no flow to the game anymore, on or off the field. Like they're constantly trying to tweak or fix something that was never feckin broken in the first place.

Yeah I felt the standard was particularly bad today.

But it’s not just United, the few times I’ve watched Arsenal and Liverpool this season have been similar spectacles.
Yeah definitely, it's few & far between we see any proper entertaining games these days.

I thought you liked the manager?
I appreciated the process. The methodology. I advocated to give him the season. I like the signings. But the results are so poor, it’s impossible to ignore. I’ve reached ambivalence. Maybe I’m just having a bad day. I’ve been working 14-16 hour days for months now, and spend most off days travelling, I’m probably feeling run down at this point.

Didn't even bother to catch this game live despite the dead cat bounce vs Chelsea. Whenever this happens the manager gets sacked within a month or 2.

I missed the game, was there any positives or all just going down hill?

Sesko got off the mark. Really wasn't much else. Lots of huff and puff but we looked impotent in attack while also weak at the back. Terrible combination.

I was really excited and nervous before this match. Why do I do this to myself? Man, I miss a United team that can just compete every game. I don't know what else to say.
It’s disappointing but this team has showed us who they are enough times now to know a few things.

We cannot build any type of momentum (ie multiple wins in a row) = consistently inconsistent
We can’t score (even with a new attack) = terrible gd
We continue to struggle vs lower half teams = no fear factor
We have too many players playing out of their positions = poor performances

Holy shit, just got in. Couple of great goals but feck me has he gone yet?

One relegation level team was far better than another relegation level team

Still, after all the bad results, it's easy to convince yourself before the match that United are going to play well today.

But you look at this team and apart from the frontline, I wonder why we expect anything other than a fight to finish in the top half of the table.

What a missed chance today to climb the table with the other results.. ffs

Yep.
Just came here to say this.
Chelsea and Liverpool lose and we can't manage back to back wins.
Absolute spineless performance

Who do we hire then?
I don't care at all. He's the worst manager this club has ever had and the worst currently in the PL, so anyone else will do. I'd let Rooney or Carrick have it as caretaker for the rest of the season if it comes to that. Hell, the team would probably play better without a coach.

Well he manages to maintain his sequence of no back to back wins, plus I believe he is now the worst performing manager in the club's history.

Absolutely dreadful yet again.

Bruno needs to be removed from penalty duty.

This can't continue, Brentford were ripe for the picking.

Ruben so needs to be sacked, I dunno what the board are playing it in that regard.

Surely a different manager can get these players play better than that, right?

I should say I definitely do not want Southgate to replace him, that's if by some miracle he is sacked soon.

This is how it's gonna be this season, flirt with relegation but always stay just above it.
Even with a new manager coming in, fhe players available to him for defence and midfield are abysmal.

I’m not sure you can blame the owners. Let’s be honest here. We’ve bought Cunha, Mbuemo, Sesko. 200m of talent that most managers in the league would want. We have Bruno one of the best in Europe as a number 10. Mainoo a talented midfielder that had at least 10 offers, Newcastle, Chelsea you name it. The owners have brought in Heaven, Yoro two extremely talented centre half’s. We have a new keeper sitting in the stands. It’s not the owners.
Of course it's the owners. We're playing with a crap keeper, with Dalot, Maguire and Shaw as three of the back 5, and without a decent midfielder to babysit Bruno. That comes down to money, and therefore to the leeches who own this club and who have run it into the ground over the last 10 years.

Heard a stat earlier that he's statistically the 36th worst manager in PL history. Might have cracked the top 30 after that.

The fact he's made it this far is shocking. Just an abysmal appointment.
I would rank him third worst after De Boer and Connor. If you take into account the players and money at his disposal as well as how much time he's been given. There's definitely not 36 Premier League managers who'd lose to Grimsby.

That's an absolute shambles of a 7 players. It just looks so much better on paper if you go:
Lammens/any fecking u-18 keeper
Mazrouai-Maguire-Yoro-Shaw
Mainoo-Fernandes-Casemiro

Like - our bench would beat our first 7. Makes little sense.

We are going to struggle to not be relegated if we struggle away in every single football match and have to rely on penalties and red cards to win games of football. I'm so done..

Can anyone here justify continuing like this? Anyone?
Plenty of fans will.

Just a few days ago, I was reading comments about us winning 3-4 games in a row.
We've never won 2 games in a row, but some fans convinced themselves that we were in a good position to win 4 games in a row (starting with Chelsea and Brentford).

At this point, I am convinced that some people are making comments having not watched us play and/or not aware of any of our previous game results.
Looking at the score prediction for the Brentford game, about 75% of people who voted thought we'd win this.
Is there some mass delusion that some fans are experiencing?

Under the current manager, we have scored roughly 1 point per game in the previous season.
This season, we are continuing that scoring rate, currently at 1.17 points per game.

Another week another defeat, followed by another Amourin interview saying, we need to work on a lot of things and we need to do better and “i know what to do” -
How much longer before we start doing some things right and winning a game or two.

No tempo, and a ridiculously lax attitude. Passing at the back was awful, no pace on the ball and constantly putting the receiver under pressure. To not even have the conviction to watch your team attempt to play your tactics, head down - that just sends the wrong message to the team.

First time I have said this. He has to go.

In fact he will probaly walk himself.

Its over for him now.
I doubt he'll resign. If he does, he probably won't receive the severance pay.
It was over at the end of last, when he took us down to 15th place, but senior management is so incompetent, they don't know what to do.

If a manager of a big club like MUFC takes you down to 15th place, it is the duty of the board to change the manager. What they did in the Summer by allowing Amorim to continue is misconduct and quite possibly gross misconduct (by keeping Amorim, they are dragging the club into a relegation battle, which, in my book, constitutes gross misconduct).

Amorim should go, but so should several members of the board. And the less said about INEOS, the better - they've been an unmitigated disaster.

Missed it as well. I think we were the lucky ones. Best just ignore the United forum. Or football in general actually
Yep, Ryder Cup, Rugby, NFL for me now a days.

I’ll watch all of our games I can but I can’t put emotional investment into it like I used to until the club are prepared to run us professionally again.

We were terrible, manager should go, get a new manager in by the end of the international break (Glasner? Iraola?)

I cant understand why Craig Pawson wasnt sent to the moniter to check for a red card after the penalty was awarded, there was enough evidence that it was clear denial of a goalscoring oppurtunity without genuine attept to play the ball

He just has to go, immediately. No ifs or buts, it doesn't matter who takes over as caretaker now. He'll take us down eventually if given the time.
