PL D FA Premier League

Burnley 2:2 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

Should have won that quite easily, 2 simple mistakes punished again.

Could have been 4th with a win, because Newcastle got another half of stoppage time to score 2 against Leeds it's down to 7th.

Only caught the second half but looked good. Although Burnley are crap so might be misleading.

Never actually said its as good as its ever been but if you are going to make stuff up then good for you I guess.

The league is at a very high standard and very competitive. Thats my opinion and the results and table standings show that aswell.

Out of interest, what is your opinion of Serie A or La Liga right now?
This Premiership is not all that. We could have been top four this evening, and that says it all.

Sunderland are good, workmanlike. Villa good, but hardly an outstanding team. Look at City, spluttering along.

However, the Premiership is v competitive, because the standards are pretty much the same.

Is there much difference between us and, say, Palace? Even we turned Chelsea over.

Sadly I think that could be the end of our chances for Europe, unless things drastically change. Much tougher games coming up.

Obviously City and Arsenal are difficult fixtures but we have a run of 5 very winnable games after that which would get us right back in the mix from the the way the league is going and also are still in the FA Cup so it might be to soon to talk about our European hopes being over.

30 shots, 10 on target

Hit the woodwork twice

65% possession

They scored from their only shot on target and from a lucky deflected own goal.

Desperately unlucky not to get the 3 points today.

It's the same old sad song tonight, and I heard Amorim's words ringing "lacking intensity in defence".

So many times this season we've created boatloads and dropped points by inexplicably shipping easy goals.

A good night for Sesko, but that's points dropped. We had chances, opportunities.

We couldn't control the game.

Cunha is so unpredictable.. how can you play alongside him? He is very individualistic, makes his own decisions.. I'm not sure his positives are outweighing his negatives at the moment. We need him to be more balanced, clinical... he is like a loose cannon.

Fletcher should just take them for the rest of the season. He did ok.

3 wins in 10 and still could’ve snuck into 4th tonight, crazy. We played okay in periods but the gap in quality and we should be blowing them away regardless of formations and tactics. More points dropped to relegation garbage.

A functional midfield would change so much for this teams fortunes.

Luckily for Ineos, Amorim quitting gave them the perfect excuse to not address the midfield.

I can’t see it, but hope I’m wrong. Hopefully the Afcon players coming back can give us a boost and we sort out the defensive lapses.

The first goal could have been avoided if Casemiro and Cunha put some effort in defending. Very disappointed with Casemiro and Cunha today. Poor on the ball and ball watching off the ball.

Got to start seeing these games out, and I think it has to do with our lack of control in the middle of the pitch. We sign a controlling midfielder that doesn’t lose possession, and can cover the defence, and we win these games we’ve been drawing

Need full backs and midfielders desperately, if greedy one more striker.

So terrible at defending anything near the wing, and our midfield always just gets walked through.

Zirkzee was an absolute liability today, his actual contribution leaves a lot to be desired.

Cunha had a bit of a stinker today. The man needs to be more of a team player.

Really pleased for Sesko, hope this gives him some much needed confidence. Skills are clearly there.

Points dropped today.

We are jinxed. We hit the cross bar, the post, had two certain goals cleared off the line. Sesko had 7 shots on target, and their goalie (who is crap BTW) saved 5 of them.

Burnley had a totally fluke of an own goal, and one shot that was a worldie and went in the top corner.

I cannot come to terms with how unlucky this team is. Like Villa away. We battered them all over the pitch and ended up losing to 2 worldies against the run of play.

Well I thought we were pretty good. Desperately unlucky not to win that. Of course we should win but we created a tonne. Absolutely delighted for Sesko. Hope it lights the fuse. Some good moments from Dorgu, what a moment that would have been for Lacey. I'm giving us all a pass for the rest of the season. Let's give it a lash and see what happens. Zero expectations.

Should've been 5-1. I'll give Burnely their 2nd goal.

But 2 saved off the line and 2 more off the post? That's as unlucky as it gets.

When we look back on this season and if they're not playing in Europe next season, it'll be the 3 draws against the current 3 bottom feeders and the loss to a short handed Everton. Should be sitting comfortably in 4th and only 2 points out of 2nd.

Felt different but largely the same old story.

It’s one game, but can’t see Fletch managing this team for the rest of the season. No reflection on this game as such, just can’t see it.
Nah, it was different. We had control of the game. It wasn't a 50/50 toss up like all games under Amorim were. We held the ball and momentum for most of the game, couldn't break through at times, but still tried to. It's a frustrating Mourinho/ Ole home game rather than a frantic ETH/Amorim home/away game

Nail on head.

Here goes..
Dalot needs to be told to find a new club ASAP how he starts every single match is beyond me.
Casemiro shouldn't play for us again he is just awful.
If ineos give Shaw a new contract they are absolutely delusional as he needs to be given the season off for our sake.
Zirkzee and Kobbie can take a charter plane to Italy together the sooner the better.

The state of this group of players is just beyond badly put together, some of our business under previous managers has been shocking. How Jimbo and friends thought this midfield would fly for this season needs to be researched. The lack of athleticism and dynamism of this group is disgraceful.

Another season flushed and we are going backwards, great start to the mighty Salmon Jimbo reign.

Lammens, Heaven, Sesko, Dorgu and Bruno did well. Lacey should get more minutes.

Often you can tell we're not winning a game by the first few minutes. If the passing and touches are sloppy to start the game, and there's a lack of intensity in winning the ball back, I fear the worst. Was absolutely no surprise when we went a goal down.

We did start to play well towards the end of the first half and start of 2nd half. Subs killed us 2nd half and we finished poorly again. Any decent side is winning that game comfortably after going 2-1 up, it's unbelievable we managed to throw it away.

We really are pathetic to not beat any of Wolves Leeds and Burnley, and not to forget the West Ham game... Forest too. Can't beat the 5 worst teams in the league, absolute shambles. Losing to 10 man Everton... It's hard to put into words how awful this is.

When’s De Ligt back by the way? Makes a huge difference

That's now SEVEN league games where we have had a lead during the game but ended up drawing. We needed more than 4/12 against the bottom 4 teams with City home and Arsenal away in the next two

100% spot on

When we finally cant mathematically reach 4th we might win a game against the relegation fodder
Wild prediction - we will randomly beat Arsenal, ruining their title hopes, cementing their Bottlers status, but will miss top5 because we have wasted easy wins against relegation teams

Unlikely but a very United move

Take the good with the bad kind of night. Sesko good. Could have been brilliant.

Lacey brilliant. Don’t care he didn’t score. It felt like I saw CR7 having his first appearance (I know it wasn’t his first appearance).

Mount Bruno obviously not ready.

Kobbie semi retired.

regardless of how good we can play, we're still prone (regularly) to letting the game quickly get away. Can turn a comfortable win into....well this

Urgency dwindled as the game went on, really frustrating

We need to do some January transfer business. Brutal January with Brighton, City and Arsenal ahead

P.S. Feck Burnley and feck Walker
There won't be any January transfer business, that's what got Amorim so worked up. So best to accept there will be a lot of moaning post match threads until May

Good attacking performance, mostly in second half. Line clearances, post and bar hit, plenty of shots on target.

Our problem was defending, which we did without compactness and too passively.

Darren made changes at half time that made us create more in second half.

Amorim is an arrogant feck without results to back it up.
