A very satisfying three points and one of United's most impressive away victories under Louis Van Gaal.

They went toe-to-toe with Everton from the first minute, a marked change to recent away games at Southampton and Arsenal where United started lethargically and were punished for it. No sign of tiredness today!

Morgan Schneiderlin opened the scoring after 17 minutes and United doubled their lead four minutes later through Ander Herrera. They then defended well for the next 40 minutes as Everton went in search of a goal back, until Rooney sealed the three points with a third goal on the break.

That took the wind out of the home side's sails and the Reds cruised to victory in the final 30 minutes.

3:0 and a reversal of last season's hammering at Goodison Park. Sweet revenge.

Fantastic performance, absolutely fantastic.

We had a big point to prove after the Arsenal humiliation and we did very well.

Wonderful. Every single player played well. Extremely impressed with the defence. The entire back four had to work extremely hard to keep Lukaku quiet.

Please stay bloody fit Phil Jones!

Most complete performance of Van Gaal's reign.

The shape worked really well and you get the sense that is how our midfield is supposed to work. Schneiderlin was fantastic and Schweinsteiger pulled the strings as the extra man.

Herrera and Martial were great too. Really happy after that.

Great win. Especially away from home. We need to do this more often away.

Fantastic away performance, especially after the shambles from in last away game

Excellent performance. We completely shut down a decent team at their own ground. Made it look like a training game against a reserve team.

Didnt see that coming, delighted, best performance of season by a mile. Arguably most complete performance under LVG as well.
Smalling
Martial

We can't stop here. This is bat country.
We were excellent.

Proper away performance. Never troubled.

3 man midfield away from home is a no-brainer from here on in (if it wasn't already). And what a 3 they are.

Defence were excellent, the entire back line flawless really.

Rooney very good. Martial unlucky not to notch a couple of assists and another goal.

Amazing all around performance from us. Everyone was terrific. Martial again showed how good of a player he is, has to be the best u21 player in the world, he looks world class already. And can play both out wide and up front. Rooney looked very good again (apart from the final 15 in the first half). Smalling a tank. Jones looked very good. Darmian back to his best. Rojo and Schneiderlin by far their best performances at United. Herrera showing why he needs to start games in that midfield as well. Now we need to carry on our form.

Obertans #1 fan.
Who was MOTM then?

For me there were five of them who were just incredibly good.

Smalling, Jones, Martial, Herrera and Schniderlin looked brilliant.

Brilliant game from Herrera, but this means bad news for Depay. Since Rooney won't be dropped (and he was solid today as well), I think Depay will find himself on the bench for quite a while.
I also don't like that Martial is gonna be on the wing from now on. He did well, but he is a monster as a number 9 and that's where I wanna see him.

De Gea too. Saved our arses when Everton had that spell before Rooney's goal.

Delighted with that. Such an unusually easy/comfortable match at Goodison Park. Thankfully. Early-ish goals killed them and great professionalism to ride it out.

Pros
  • Rooney scoring
  • Rojo and Jones playing
  • Smalling and Darmian in great form
  • Herrera playing and scoring
  • Lingaard getting game time
  • Blind and Memphis rested with 3 points still taken (got a long season ahead of those 2, key players).
Almost a perfect day.

Best performance of the season? Thought we looked pretty solid, Herrera adds so much speed and creativity to our play it's unreal. Schneiderlin I thought was excellent and added some much needed muscle

Best performance of the season, almost impossible to pick a MOTM. Martial on the wing was a fantastic decision.

Herrera was great, as were most of our players tbh, but Schneiderlin was my pick for man of the match. Superb.

Said it in the match day thread, but I have not seen a United player in years who can so consistently beat their man. Martial is pure class.

Brilliant win and a great team performance all around. Every player played well Schneiderlin gets my motm vote he completely bossed the midfield and he showed today why he should start every big game.

Honestly would have been happy with a draw going into today's game against an Everton side at home that has really turned it on this season.

Amazed at the complete, composed and polished performance. Outplayed a very good Everton side on their home ground.

Smalling and Jones were brilliant in the heart of our defence. Schneiderlin was excellent. Hererra was massive.

How good does Martial look? So unassuming, but has the ability to turn it on with a drop of his shoulder. Almost scored a brilliant goal after some individual magic. That boy is going to be huge.

Hugely important win, after the Arsenal disappointment.
Everyone played well, even the despised Rooney. Special mentions to Herrera and Rojo today.
And Martial did not score (is this now a crisis?) but every time he gets on the ball it's just so exciting.
