Everton had a low block with two banks of players. Even when they attacked and were out of position, United kept with the standard pass the ball around until they reached the opposition half giving them the opportunity of getting into position. From there on in they would not cross the ball in the air due to Everton being stronger in the air. They could not go through the middle areas. Even when they got into the penalty box it was just wild shots, instead of playing percentage balls across the penalty areas for players to tap in.
