PL W FA Premier League

Manchester United 3:2 Liverpool

Post-match discussion

They made way too hard in the second half and we should have been comfortable against that injury hit Liverpool. Amad provided an absolutely woeful pass to start the nightmare and I don’t think he should have been on in the first place. It should have been Mount in that situation. Despite being 2-0 up, we never looked comfortable and in control. That absolutely has to change next season if we want to progress.

We cannot have the majority of games be on a knife edge until the final whistle. I’m in no way saying we should be winning 3-0 every week. I’m saying we can win by one goal but within the context of the game, the other team couldn’t get near us and never troubled us.

Great win.
You just know if that was at Anfield Liverpool wouldn't have given away a 2 nil lead.
We don't control games, that is the most concerning thing.

Don’t know what you are supposed to do when two stupid individual errors take all confidence from the team and gift momentum to the opposition but the team showed some bottle afterwards so that’s a plus.
Deserved win. Awful 25 to 30 minutes in the second half aside.

Great win against those Cnuts.

Top 3 here we come.

Great to win. But watching those two sides going end to end, the levels are miles behind what we saw on Tuesday in Paris. Still a long way to go, but great to win the game and confirm the CL.

Honestly happy with the win but 2 sloppy goals conceded were not necessary. Mainoo to the rescue with his new contract. I don't want to see Dalot ever in a United jersey. How can you not ever force the keeper to save? If it is 2-2 and it is the last kick of the game, how many fans will be left disappointed? Not United standard. If United moves forward, Dalot shouldn't be anywhere near XI.

2 mistakes that I'm sure isn't part of the training. Otherwise, we could've won it more comfortably.

Again, low block and look for counter. Shit football great result .
Dalot and Dorgu are two of the most brainless players we have in the squad.
Carrick, Shaw, Dalot and Maguire should not be anywhere near the first team but sadly it looks like all four will continue into next season.

5 points more than any other club since Carrick joined. Both Liverpool goals were due to stupid individual errors by Amad and Lammens. We fully deserved the 3 points. The Carrick criticism is completely unjustified. Just people wanting to be proven right for not wanting him. Obviously should be given the job next season.

Was Carrick’s halftime talk “Lads, you are doing too well to earn me the job. Now go out there and make the game interesting.”?

Good win against 12. I can't believe how many soft fouls they were given.

Did well to dig in 2nd half after the mistakes. Deserved double against that lot, about bloody time!

Should have been beating them 3 or 4 nil.

Made hard work of that.

Need to stop the huge differences in performance levels between half’s.

Lovely 3 points all the same.

We are the masters of saboting ourselves and it's nothing new. We always do it the hard way, I don't know why.

Yeah we won but it could & should've been much more comfortable. It looked like a game that could be a revenge for that 7-0 game in the first 15-20 minutes. And in the second half it looked like we could nearly lost our record of going unbeaten at Old Trafford after leading at half time. I'm happy that we won but frustrated at the same time.

Great first half. After that it turned into a downright stupid performance. Silly errors, midfield all over the place, Mbeumo's first touch abandoned him completely. Even Bruno acted like a dummy at times.

We should have won this 4 or 5-0. This wasn't a great Liverpool side and and even worse Liverpool performance. At least we ultimately won in the end, but my god we made it difficult for ourselves.

Also keep Amad on the bench for now. I'd rather we replace Sesko like for like with Zirkzee, or bring on Mount/Dorgu. He's in terrible form and especially lacks concentration at the moment. Criminal square ball for the first goal. After that no impact whatsoever.

True, but we were 40 odd points and 14 places behind them this time last year.

The ref was absolutely dogshit, there were no 50/50s, only Liverpool awarded fouls.

Happy, elated, frustrated, annoyed, delighted all at the same time. Started the first half well, all over them, then the half settled a bit. Sesko goes off, 2nd half is just a meltdown, Liverpool did nothing to get back into the game, gifted them the goals, ball retention was erratic at times. Squad needs working on in the summer. A 3-2 win that could/should have been a 3-0/4-0 win

However we bounced back, buzzing for Mainoo. 3 points and Champions League

Carrick, Shaw, Dalot and Maguire should not be anywhere near the first team but sadly it looks like all four will continue into next season.
Second post in no time slagging Carrick off. You don't enjoy winning? Getting Champions League football?

I agree if the point is that it's not the most sexy football ever but it gets results. Beats watching mr. Post match interview turning us into bloody Leeds to be honest!

Done job a league double over Liverpool is always sweet. Deserved win that would be more comfortable if didn't gift them two goals. 6 points ahead of Liverpool now this time last year were 46 points behind.

Champions league football secured with three games to spare is some improvement from last seasons 15th placed finish

Hopefully a full recovery for Alex Ferguson after his health scare before the game.

Showed real character to win that despite the two individual mistakes. If it hadn’t been for those two tragic errors this would’ve been comfortable. It almost shows me more about the team that they still won despite that, than overcoming adversity.

Obviously have to cut that out but we didn’t play for a draw which would’ve been enough, we went for a win from the outset. You can just see a belief in the players.

Summer transfers crucial but right now well done to the players and a huge well done to Carrick. I’d be surprised to see him not get the job now and frankly you’d have to say it was well deserved.

Good first half. Typical Carrick performance. Sit deep and play on the counter. Pretty terrible second half with stupid mistake everywhere. Liverpool were horrific thankfully. Mbeumo is comically bad at the moment so is Amad. Dorgu also looked very rusty when he came on.
Overall very happy we won though. Performance was more of the same. Cannot control a football match at all.

All our games are exhausting and close because ultimately we make too many dumb decisions. No other so called top team loses the 2 goals we lost at start of sec half, and that has been our issue for years.

There are plenty of positives going forward but we desperately need to improve ball retention and passing control with better players. Main objective for season achieved but the summer transfer dealing really important if we are hoibg to push onwards.

Made it much more difficult than it needed to be at the end.

Job done, though I'm concerned about how badly our performance levels fall outside of our first XI and it'll be a headache for any manager if not addressed this summer.

Will feel a lot more comfortable now if Villa beat Spurs tomorrow.

Carrick, Shaw, Dalot and Maguire should not be anywhere near the first team but sadly it looks like all four will continue into next season.
Carrick is too old for regular first team football. However I fancy him ahead of ugarte

Should never have been so tense. Lost shape after conceding the first goal and heads went leading to another cock up for the equaliser. Regained the shape again after the 3rd goal.

Brilliant finish from Kobbie.

Gary Neville spent most the second half taking the piss out of Casemiro and nearly begging for a red for Bruno. Never seen a man wanting so much to go against United.

Not sure what happened to Amad, Zirkzee did more in lesser minutes than him. On a side note, I still feel there is a player in Zirkzee if the right person can unlock his potential. He has been giving me the Fellani vibe, can be used as a wildcard.
