Odd how some people have memory lapses. Never mind end of last season, or even into this new year, anyone suggesting we might finish third and qualify for CL would’ve been mocked but we’ve managed it with three games to spare. Just try to let that sink in before you have a perpetual moan. Yep, we had a couple of absolute brainfarts to let them back in because we had a couple of brainfarts. Happens to the best. We don’t control the mf because we don’t really have a mf so opt to sit deep at times. It is just where we are until we sort the mf in summer. Jeez. Under saf, we blew a 3-0 lead at the dippers to finish with a 3-3 draw - I don’t think some on here would’ve survived that, but we actually won the league that season. Maybe if we appointed Carrick in August, we might just be in the throes of wrapping the title up.

How do we not have a midfield? Despite Casemiro's lack of mobility, he and Mainoo have struck up an excellent partnership. In a 4231, the two is the midfield.

Are you serious? We were famously weak in mf for years until Carrick and his team found a way to make it workable. I take it that every other post on here must’ve passed you by on the topic and it will be addressed in the summer.

Do you expect us to shift to a 433 next season?

If not, our midfield will be Mainoo and one other. Unless you partner him with Superman, I'm sure people will still be crying that we have 'no midfield ', no matter how much we spend.
