Mourinho was outwitted and got it wrong.

It took Guardiola seven minutes in the second half to make the kind of substitution Mourinho made at half time.

Better second half when we added an extra body in midfield, however.

Completely outclassed in the first half, began to look really threatening before Pep killed it off with the Fernando sub.

Mourinho has been tactically outsmarted.

Disappointing. Shite in the first half, improved in the second but not enough to get anything. City look better at the moment but it'll be a long season with plenty of twists.

Lost it in the first half. Second half we were much better but couldn't find a goal.

If we played the second half team from the start I think we would have won it.

Improved in the second half, still deserved to lose.

Oh well, it's still very early in the season. Move on I guess.

Positives: 4-2-3-1 is done in the big games. There is no way Mourinho leaves us that vulnerable again.

Pogba-Herrera-Fellaini it is. Herrera looked absolutely class when he came on.

Decent game in the end, shows we can go toe to toe with them anyway.

Shocking start though, can't afford to make those selection mistakes at this level.

Jose's tactics to start the game were very poor. Once we went 4-3-3 we were better.

City for 40 mins were superb. Great effort from both sides.

Don't think the scoreline tells the whole story; we were terrible for large portions of the game. Way too open and almost always had a swarm of City players running at our back four with zero protection from midfield. Our only idea at the other end was long balls to Ibra and Fellaini.

Brilliant game to watch but unfortunately, the wrong result. A game of 2 halves if there ever was one. Throughly enjoyed it though, what a game.

It feels shit to lose the derby.

But all things considered, it's not the end of the world to lose to Guardiola's City. I'm still confident we're going to have a good season and a lot more optimistic than any other time in the last 3 years.

We've still got lots more to see from Pogba (I bloody hope so anyway) so we should kick up another level eventually when he gets it going. Martial as well.

Very poor first half, didn't find our rhythm and playing counter attacking against a team that made very few mistakes was always going to fail for us.

Second half - much better. We put them under more pressure and you can't deny that the players gave everything they had for the team and manager. A lot of tired legs and a disappointing end to the game, but we can pick ourselves up and make the next game count.

Mourinho got it wrong unfortunately.

Lingard, Mkhitaran and Fellaini holding were all the wrong choices.

Lost the game in the first half and that's down to Mourinho's lineup and probably the mentality he sent them out with. Second half much better but still the attacking third leaves a lot to be desired in terms of interchanging of passes.

Thought united could have won it, had enough chances, could have been 2-2 at HT.

Didnt take chances.

What a fecking weird game. Players dead on their feet, such a high intensity throughout. City's counters in the second half were giving me constant palpitations.

But I'm pleased with our turnaround in the 2nd half. Vastly improved, but Mourinho needs to take a look at that first half. Never seen such dominance.

But yeah. Fecking weird game.

The best team won.

Good spirit in the second half, but they had numerous chances to finish the game off while we never really looked like equalising.

City have been far stronger in the first half in every game they've played this season so there's no reason to believe that. They always steamroll teams early on.
