I think if you sell:
Hojlund 20m
Rashford 40m
Garnacho 40m
Onana 15m

Total: 115m

Along with, say 125m spend, that’s 240m. Should get Delap for 40, Osihmen for 75m, a new keeper 30m, a RWB for 50m, that’s 195m, enough to add a couple players for squad depth, maybe a DM and a young 10 or young lwb /rwb for depth.

Sell Zirkzee as well and maybe an extra 15-20m coming your way…
Yeah but unfortunately we live in the real world, not your FM save.

Selling Højlund for only £20m wouldn't even break even on his book value for PSR. I'm still sceptical anyone would pay that for Rashford and take on his wages. There's no universe where we sign both Delap and Osimhen, and it's all moot anyway if we don't have any European football next season, as they'll both have better offers.

You seriously need to lower your transfer expectations, especially if we don't win the Europa.

I don’t expect us to win at home. If anything we’ve been typically better (or less worse) away. This is Lyon’s to lose.

It’s a bit annoying we have all these high scoring away games in Europe just after they bin off away goals

Good performance overall and we should have won easily. Onana needs to have his head checked. He’ll be our downfall in this competition. Everyone else was solid.

Let's see if I got this sequence of events right.

Each CL game last year, Onana kept making howlers. And each time, ETH kept picking him next game. Onana proceeded to single handedly throw out our CL campaign.

The rest of the season, he continues making howlers.
The manger is sacked, we start next season. Onana continues making regular howlers in goal.

Big EL game. Onana mouths off to the press about how we're far superior to Lyon, gets put down by Matic.
Makes a howler in the first half, team down a goal. We score 2, somehow, and regain the lead.
Onana wastes time by goading the Lyon supporters behind goal.
Last minute of the game, shot straight into his arms, Onana spills it right into Cherki's feet, and we concede.

I would love to bet on Onana starting the second leg and gifting away at least one more goal. It is absolutely going to happen. Amorim - like ETH before him - lacks the ability to drop underperforming players, especially the keeper. I don't care how poor Bayindir is, I'd rather see him make mistakes than see this fecker in goal, but there's no chance of that happening.
I think it's just the Bayindir has been injured, no?

It’s Jim Leighton time. No question.

If he plays the next leg, we deserve what we get

Shouting (ALL CAPS)
I’ll just pass to say: MOST OF YOU CRIED ABOUT A KEEPER THAT WAS “GOOD WITH HIS FEET”, AND A MINORITY (INCLUDING MYSELF), TOLD YOU THAT WHAT MATTERED THE MOST IN A KEEPER WAS HIS KEEPING ABILITY!

WELL YOU GOT YOUR KEEPER THAT IS “GOOD WITH HIS FEET”, BUT CAN’T KEEP, ENJOY WHAT YOU ASKED FOR.

Believe we’ve done enough to get through the tie but this naff keeper doesn’t half make it hard for us all.

Nobody wanted a goalkeeper that couldn’t do the fundamentals. We wanted a gk that was good with his feet as well as being a safe pair of hands.

Feck me, I predicted the starters and 3 subs, that's a first!

We should have won that comfortably, the usual suspects not doing the right things again!

Lyonana 2 : United 2
I understand the frustration but really can't get the hate for Garnacho. At least he tries. I still think there's a player there.

Not the case for Man United in Europe this season.

At home P5 W4 D1 F12 A5
Away P6 W2 D4 F11 A8
Also not the case in the league either. People just expect more from us at home than they do away, so the disappointing results stick more.

I want a keeper who keeps! I don’t care about that being “good with his feet” bs, that has completely ruined the keeper position.

Van Der Saar or Casilla weren’t “good with their feet” and they are amongst the greater ever goalkeepers.

Our own Rene Higuita was “good with his feet” and he was a meme.

Good news are:

1. We do not have to play Onana in any of the games, anymore, at least not Europa ones. Bayindir is up for it
2. Mainoo reminded us all, today, why he is destined for greatness if coached properly. If we play Bruno behind Mainoo and Mount alongside Ugarte or Casemiro, we will have a seriously formidable midfield
3. Amad will come back at some point and with Mainoo, Bruno, Mount, goals will increase. It is something to build on

Are there really any Garnacho fans left here? Do you see how shallow of a player he is? That pass to Bruno was soooooo bad. And then there is all the times he can't keep the frigging ball. Add his weak shots and you just have a very average player.

If we start Hojlund and Garnacho in even half our matches next year, it will be very hard to stay engaged as a fan. They are just painful to watch.

Amorim, please start Mount and Zirkzee as AM and keep Bruno with either Ugarte or Casemiro. Then, please consider anyone other than Hojlund as striker.

United is improving. But if we have to progress, I feel we need to defend better.

The game was cagey. Both the teams had the chances. But if that was the best we saw from Lyon, I am confident that we will progress.

Lyon had a few attacks in the final 15 mins and pressed our right flank. But their attacks are equally toothless.

Change the goalie so that we will feel confident if it goes to penalties. With Onana, no chance of winning a shootout.

But better will be to get our acts right and score the goals at OT. Let's hope for the best.

In almost every single phase of play where we fall short of looking like a decent Champions League team, there are these players as culprits: Onana, Ugarte, Garnacho, Dorgu and Hoijlund. Simply not good enough!

To echo many others...

Thought on the whole the team did really well away from home in a hostile environment. The defence were outstanding all night, thought the midfield did very well intercepting and breaking up play as well.

Obviously the real issues are the back and front of the team, Hojlund was actually shocking. He had a great chance first half and completely messed it up. A few other times he had the ball in the channels and just lost it so easily. Garnacho wasn't great but he was an outlet with his pace at least.

Onana.... The guy is a joke. First goal was so so bad and the second goal was a different issue but still could and should have done better.

Drop Onana, Hojlund and use Garnacho as an impact sub and we will be ok.

Ugarte had a good game and Dorgu put an absolute shift in. The others though I agree.

We have the exceptionally difficult position of pretty much needing to bring in 2 or 3 quality attackers.
You wouldn't back us to do it.

Well put, it's why this club is where it's at. We see problems stare us in the face for so long and do nothing about it, rather than be ruthless

Onana is just one of many examples for years, it's tiring
What, you think Bayindir would be better?

Out of morbid curiosity, why are a lot of people now writing "Hoijlund"? Do you imagine that "oi" somehow transcribes "ø"? Because it doesn't.

Or on second thought, maybe it sort of does, for the Danish pronounciation (it certainly wouldn't for the Norwegian). What say our Danish posters?

Still a Garnacho fan, yes.

The problem is we have no other options so we're relying on him every week. He'd be a squad player if he played in a strong side, which would give him chance to develop and improve.

He's only 20 ffs

we have a ton of issues that we need to fix all over the pitch and unfortunately a GK will now be a part of that because we could play our hearts out and gain an advantage in any game only for the buffoon at the back to ruin it all
Think the goalkeeper has always been one of the issues and maybe he has led to issues in other departments because he cannot do what we apparently bought him for.

The player ratings currently have Casemiro rated higher than Ugarte, that's genuinely laughable.

A traffic cone would have been more effective than Casemiro last night, he lost all but one of his duels, and was dribbled past constantly, Ugarte was playing in midfield by himself.

I suppose, I meant players that let us down in actual possession. I felt both Dorgu and Ugarte lacked something with the ball, although they both worked quite hard.

Hello Red Devils friends!

Lyon fan here. I made this account to share some insights about our team before the game, but I ended up forgetting to do it—better late than never!

Just to give you a bit of perspective from our side: most of the Lyon fanbase agrees that yesterday was one of our worst games since our new coach took over. We were especially poor up front, which is usually our strength.

We changed coaches at the end of January, and since then we've been averaging 2.98 goals per game. I'd say we're currently the second, maybe third, best team in France based on form. We're also one of the few teams that really challenged PSG this season when we faced them at home
That said, our main issue is definitely our defense—we concede far too many goals.

We’re also dealing with quite a few injuries at the moment, but one of our best forwards and most dangerous players, Fofana, is expected to return next week after a month out. A midfielder who’s usually a starter (and much better than the one we had yesterday) will also be back.

As for the rest of the squad: Mikautadze our Georgian striker, is a beast, though he had a very unusual poor game yesterday. Cherki is Cherki. Sometimes he is one of the most exciting players in the world, and sometimes he disappears. You never really know which version will show up. Lacazette unfortunately is gone for good, he has been the shadow of himself the last 3 months.

Best of luck to us both next week! If we don’t go through, we’ll be fully behind Manchester. You're far too iconic a club to be where you are right now—football misses you at the top!

Dorgu needs to do better to stop the play at the byline before their second goal, fouling the player would probably saved us the game, being stronger he might have managed to cut it out for a corner.
