Hello Red Devils friends!

Lyon fan here. I made this account to share some insights about our team before the game, but I ended up forgetting to do it—better late than never!

Just to give you a bit of perspective from our side: most of the Lyon fanbase agrees that yesterday was one of our worst games since our new coach took over. We were especially poor up front, which is usually our strength.

We changed coaches at the end of January, and since then we've been averaging 2.98 goals per game. I'd say we're currently the second, maybe third, best team in France based on form. We're also one of the few teams that really challenged PSG this season when we faced them at home
That said, our main issue is definitely our defense—we concede far too many goals.

We’re also dealing with quite a few injuries at the moment, but one of our best forwards and most dangerous players, Fofana, is expected to return next week after a month out. A midfielder who’s usually a starter (and much better than the one we had yesterday) will also be back.

As for the rest of the squad: Mikautadze our Georgian striker, is a beast, though he had a very unusual poor game yesterday. Cherki is Cherki. Sometimes he is one of the most exciting players in the world, and sometimes he disappears. You never really know which version will show up. Lacazette unfortunately is gone for good, he has been the shadow of himself the last 3 months.

Best of luck to us both next week! If we don’t go through, we’ll be fully behind Manchester. You're far too iconic a club to be where you are right now—football misses you at the top!
That's reassuring:(

Surely we have to drop the big mouth clown from now on? We can't have this clown keep sabotaging us in EL. We need to win the competition to qualify for CL. We got no chance with him especially cup competition will go down to penalty shoot outs. Bayindir is much better in penalty.

2-2 was a fair result, hopefully we can beat them at OT in the 2nd leg.

When Hojlund is on the pitch we are basically playing with 10 men so hopefully he is benched for the 2nd leg with the much more effective Zirkzee starting instead.

I think we've been on a trajectory of improvement lately, but it's hard not to feel that with this game - and the fact of our not scoring in the previous two - the curve is flattening dangerously. Between Onana's horror show and Højlund's painful performance, I guess we should be happy with the result. But the question arises, are we really improving, or is this just Bruno carrying it all on his back?

Are there really any Garnacho fans left here? Do you see how shallow of a player he is? That pass to Bruno was soooooo bad. And then there is all the times he can't keep the frigging ball. Add his weak shots and you just have a very average player.

If we start Hojlund and Garnacho in even half our matches next year, it will be very hard to stay engaged as a fan. They are just painful to watch.

Amorim, please start Mount and Zirkzee as AM and keep Bruno with either Ugarte or Casemiro. Then, please consider anyone other than
It gets harder and harder, mate. Falling much more into the cash-in bucket. We obviously need funds.

Is that midfielder Tessman? Curious how he slots into the team as I thought the spine of Lyon was mostly solid yesterday. Seems like someone who England teams will go after in another year or two.

Getting very worried about Rasmus, even when he is just running around he looks nervous, off balance, slow off the mark never really catching up with play... his nerves are shot, he needs to be taken out of the firing line for the rest of this season, otherwise what potential he does have will be wasted/squandered in a team struggling generally to adopt a new way of playing.

Without the goalkeeping errors we could have won that game, although Lyon did have some good players who will want to show what they can do at OT.

Nothings settled yet.

Cherki saying we’re afraid of them because we played 2 DM. Mate you did nothing against us. You scored because we have an awful keeper.

I haven’t seen enough of Cherki to rate him either way but he didn’t do much against us that’s for sure. Hope we dont overspend if were in for him.

A few clubs will be in for him so Lyon could get a decent fee for him if clubs negotiate.

What, you think Bayindir would be better?
Not sure how you gathered Bayindir would be better from my post, by ruthless I mean quite simple he's been showing a lot of moments of clown moments, we should have bought better gk replacements and not have put Onana on the pedestal

I do think Bayindir is a better goalkeeper than Onana in terms of saving the actual ball though, feck knows what Onana is

I quite liked that Tolisso dude, not as silky as Cherki but he seemed to make himself available and be on the ball very often

Yeah but unfortunately we live in the real world, not your FM save.

Selling Højlund for only £20m wouldn't even break even on his book value for PSR. I'm still sceptical anyone would pay that for Rashford and take on his wages. There's no universe where we sign both Delap and Osimhen, and it's all moot anyway if we don't have any European football next season, as they'll both have better offers.

You seriously need to lower your transfer expectations, especially if we don't win the Europa.
Sigh. You’re right. Let’s close the club. Let’s send scouts to Sunday leagues across Europe to see if we can unearth a cheap gem who will score 40 goals a season. I bet you’re a blast at parties, reminding people of the feline AIDS epidemic (IYKYK haha).

I don’t play FM. All of the amounts quoted were from reports / sources online, with the possible exception of Hojlund. Not sure why anyone would pay anything for Hojlund, but he might be better in the Eredivise or Belgian league.

It’s hard, but sometimes for our own sanity, we need to choose to be optimistic. I do think Amorim is the right guy, I do think we’ll improve the team in the summer, and I do think we’ll be challenging for CL places next season.

We should have won.
Amorim is naking real progress but was let down by our Keeper and our lack of firepower. Like a lot of our games recently

Should've taken a lead back to OT.

If Onana played for us during Fergie's time he would have binned him off a long time ago, but guess what our current manager has confidence in Onana.

Still a Garnacho fan, yes.

The problem is we have no other options so we're relying on him every week. He'd be a squad player if he played in a strong side, which would give him chance to develop and improve.

He's only 20 ffs

Yes, he is only 20, however, he plays like he is 15 and just discovered he is a pretty good dribbler. Most good dribblers learn pretty early how to find a teammate when you attract defenders with your dribble. He is still learning things like this and about proper weight of a pass at 20. That volley in front of goal was pretty easy and most pros can easily steer that past the GK. Garnacho seems to be happy if he just makes connection in situations like these.

We are improving a bit, we went from terrible, to a solid side, if we had better attackers, we would have won the previous few matches, goals change games, and not being able to finish is keeping it close all the time, then we have someone like Onana in goal, that’s very prone to mistakes is really holding us back, not that we are good, but definitely some improvement. We sorely miss Amad.

Dorgu needs to do better to stop the play at the byline before their second goal, fouling the player would probably saved us the game, being stronger he might have managed to cut it out for a corner.
Yeah I said at the time, he didn’t do half enough, he should have been right in and just cajole him in the corner.

Maybe he’s not the finished article yet and he’ll improve. Maybe it’s unfair to judge him best on the team he’s playing in at the moment. Writing him off at 20 is daft imo

One hundred percent, look for example at Elanga. Deemed not good enough for us at 19/20 then sold for peanuts. 2 years later with a bit of development he's a world beater at forest and everyone lamenting us selling him cheap.

You just can't win.
