Well beat tonight.

On the plus side.

Pogba rested for second leg.

And Young found a handy ditch for dickhead wingers to get slung in.

Are you watching closely?
Outplayed and humbled, our inexperience (and lack of quality) showed. We're still a long way away. Quite a worrying performance tbh, thought we'd do better.

Ref's a cnut though.

This required a Mourinho coached side
I don't think so. Our high press was working fine until we got Lingard and Martial injured. We were in control of the game without creating too much but still in the game until the subs happened.
Don't want to see Mata and Sanchez again

cant see how Lingard has such a low average. I gave him a 6, was pretty even in the first half when he was on the field. It was the second half when we lost control when we didn’t have him dropping deep to pick up the ball.

Forget about the champions league,we were never going to win it this Season as our squad is not strong enough.
Hope Lingard or Martial are fit for Chelsea that’s our most important game of the season.top 4 and Fa cup will do nicely

Looked like we were more concerned with stopping PSG to ever getting our own game going.

It was the perfect time to play PSG and we blew it.

Man against boys out there.

Poor ref, poor subs and a thoroughly depressing night all round. If this doesn't prove to the board investment is needed at fullback and midfield nothing will.

Still hopeful if we get Martial and Lingard back but looks unlikely in a weeks time. Also, with no Pogba means no chance for the second leg

I just find the people saying things like "Outclassed" a totally over the top, it was a bit of a nothing game with a poor mistake by Matic and a well played counter attack when we were chasing a goal. They defended well and were professional, nothing against PSG it was just a game where not much happened.

Lost to the better team but the ref was disgusting! Totally forgot how much I hate the European referees

I'm better than Messi (even though I'm not)
It’s a shame our pathetic backup was called upon half way through the biggest match of the season. Martial and Lingard were poor anyway but first half was somehow less horrendous than the second.

This isn’t on Ole, he’s been here for less than two months and has to work with what he has, which just isn’t good enough. Reality check for everyone at the club

Miserable night all things considered...but let's not over-react!

Jesse and Martial never got warmed up, PSG showed a little more experience and it's pretty clear where United need improving in the summer.

We have been away too long for these occasions. It was clear as day they knew how to play these games especially tactically. They played Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juve etc. over the last 5-6 years consistently and are used to that level. We miss that right now. A good reality check for us in terms of how far we are from the very top as of now. But we will return to where we belong - hopefully with Ole - i believe that.

Defensively exposed, unlucky with the injuries and forced subs but what garbage of a ref.

Some honesty required here.

The likes of Rashford, Herrera, Young, Lingard, Mata and Sanchez are fine against mid table PL teams but are simply not good enough at the highest level.

We need to invest in proven World Class players if we are going to compete with the very best.

Outplayed. A bit of a reality check: Solskjaer has lifted the team and done a good job so far but we are far from the level of the CL elite.

Think we’d have to overperform over two legs to have a chance. We were the best team first half, where the ref decided not to send Kimpembe off on two occations. Seeing as he scored in the second half its pretty obvious how the ref affected the whole tie. That and the forced subs changed the game
Can’t do much about that now though. Tbg the Pogba second yellow was correct, just wish the ref had been consistent...

Well.....I think the last two months have been fun...playing attacking football against teams we are usually significantly better than in terms of personnel

However, more evidence if it were needed that if we want the Utd that compete at the top level in the PL and Europe back then the majority of these players can’t take us there

Tonight changes nothing for Ole for me but I think hammers home the need for a proper DoF and Head of Recruitment because its criminal that with no significant injuries and with our recent outlay that’s the best XI + subs we can field in a Champs League knockout game

Last passes, especially the crosses, were not good enough. Possession and duels won were not so bad for you (44/56 and 54/46 to Utd/PSG).

A blow to our confidence, two key players injured, and another grim reminder of just how poor the quality is on the bench. This night certainly could have went better.

Just glad they didn't have Neymar or Cavani, otherwise it could have been embarrassing. As it is, with the injuries and red card, it couldn't have gone much worse.

The better team won. Disappointed that we didn't create more in the first half but there's a huge gap between us and Europe's elite and they gave us a good lesson in how to defend as a team.

Though I knew PSG were much better then us, Ole’s poor tactics contributed to that showing. The players are desperately in need of good coaching to pass, to cross, to close the opposition and to defend better.

Cant imagine Bufon has had many easier nights in european games but our failure to even get close to their 18 yard box was a damning indictment of the quality of play.

Young is not cut for this level, and with Mata in front of him their left side can do what they want.

Matic again losing his man at a set piece. Unforgiving at this level.

Having to put on two players that should be playing in the MLS didn't help either.

Hopefully we can try again next year with three or four improvments in the team.

Better team won.

Two injuries mid game with no depth ruined the game plan. We lose all pace and all the high press when any of that front 3 leave the field. Every time Mata or Sanchez come on, we look so disjointed. Getting them both on at the same time made us look awful. We just can't play the same game with them.

I don't think we'd have lost 2-0 without those injuries. The press was effective. Once it was gone, Veratti had all the time to stroll through midfield.

Kimpembe should have gone early in the 2nd half but he seems the new Fernandinho.

The first goal knocked the stuffing out of us. Changed the game plan and mbappe is always going to be dangerous.

we were toothless most the match though, we lack experience at this level and it shows.

A stat for this tie, the United players tonight had some 255 matches in total in the CL, the PSG starting team had 589 between them.

It had to end sometime. Thiago Silva was imperious and they essentially had all our creative players in their pocket. Hard lesson for Ole tonight and hopefully he will learn alot from it

Think Lukaku should've been on at half time instead of Mata or Sanchez. Sanchez is completely done though and a shame to see such a good player fall of a cliff ability wise.

We lack the deep bench some of the other top European sides have.

An embarrassing defeat. Paris St Germain were barely tasted.

Tonight we saw how much we have suffered from being absent from the highest level of European football. We looked nervous from the off. In the first half we had plenty of opportunities to counter but unlike against Spurs and Arsenal we lacked the composure. The occasion got the better of the team.

We also saw how lacking the squad is despite our spending. As soon as Martial and Lingard went off injured we were done. That would happen to most clubs of course. Its tough to keep going after losing two of your first XI attackers. However, that itself illustrated the difference between us and the likes of PSG: Cavani and Neymar were not missed.

Lastly we were reminded of something we know: Our defending is not up to scratch. PSG were able to play through us quite easily and, arguably, both their goals should have been cut out. Pogba and Matic judge the flight of the corner properly and the first doesn't come in. Bailly judges the path of the ball and he can cut it out.

With the referee handing out cards like a casino croupier it was inevitable someone would get sent off from our side.

We are going to need a night like Turin 99 to go through in Paris.

It was a corner that broke us. Granted PSG were better up to that. I thought Verratti was immense in the MF. He controlled the game.

Pity we conceded the second. That is the tie over with. Injuries to Martial and Lingarrd did not help.

We put in a lot of crosses and sometimes there was no one in the box. Frustrating because some of the crosses were hitting the right areas.

PSG defense was very good. Lukaku perhaps would have done better. They were very good in containing Rashford. They bullied him.

Ref was not great.

Gutted but a cold hard reality check in all honesty.

PSG were good. They worked hard, produced some nice quality football over the 90 minutes and also had a nice bit of luck regarding the ref. They weren't lucky but it was part of the win for sure.

United weren't bad in my opinion, just not at that level. Most of the performances I'd grade as 'fine' but just not good enough ultimately. Matic and Herrera did brilliantly for me - it was tough going for them two. Bailly and Lindelof held it together as best they could in the end.

The real issues came from wide play. Young and Shaw did fine at times but more often than not, it was a screaming reminder of how poor our full-backs as a unit are. It's like playing with a broken leg - the quality was just never going to arrive.

Pogba was awful and got himself stupidly sent off to put the icing on the cake. Really disappointed with how he's managed to not only fail to live up to his reputation but he was no where near one of our better performers.

Lingard and Martial obviously never got going in the first half before injuries.

Sanchez is finished at this level (PL, CL, whatever). Honestly looks like one of the worst transfers we've made in a long, long time.

I said before the game I don't personally judge managers on results in cup competitions and I don't. This and the Chelsea FA Cup tie, I just hope for good performances. The league is what matters most to me, always will do.
I don't think Ole did much wrong tonight. It simply re-iterated that our squad, while having potential, is far from the European elite.

We're not out of the tie yet obviously but I hope we don't prioritise the second leg in any shape or form.

Oh well, we had to lose sooner or later, at least Poch fanboys will be alive next days, chin up, learn from it move on.
On a plus side, I can finally put my Christmas tree down, I had it all this time, didn't want to jinx us, so said wil go down when we lose first game.

Almost happy we lost. nah

I don’t understand why people just dismiss the Kimpembe shit. It had a major bearing on the game yet it gets brushed under the carpet with stuff like, ‘well, we were outclassed anyway...etc’.

That’s bollocks I’m afraid. First half was even, injuries fecked us and but we should’ve been playing against 10 men for an hour. It had a massive impact and the ref completely bottled the red for Kimpembe...twice.

I was surprised at the optimism. This was always going to be hard for us.

Important thing is to pick ourselves up and move on. Hoping nobody gives Ole hell for losing his first game against a quality PSG team.
