Redcafe goes to meltdown.
Are you surprised after that and the football being played by Utd. I am now starting to understand what it feels like to be an Arsenal supporter. Only positive/comforting thought is had we gone through we would’ve got terribly humiliated by one of the true big teams of Europe.
Can’t wait for the day Jose gets the sack or leaves on his own.

Abysmal performance. Mourinho’s cowardly tactics cost us, and with all due respect but some questions should be asked, because that kind of “style” is unacceptable. Sevilla was the weakest team we could draw, they lost 5-0 to Eibar, and more recently 5-2 to Atletico de Madrid. Instead of attacking them, and constantly being on the front foot, we play this shower of shite. I can understand this cautious approach when playing away, but such display on a home ground is what makes me sick.

Pogba looks like he doesn't give a shit anymore, it's all like a training match to him out there
Yeah, that mis-hit pass out to the right-side near the end of the game pretty much summed up his night. Just looked like he didn't want to be there.

Wasn't confident with Rashford on the right and no McTominay.

Whether it's the manager or the players, the negativity in both games is just too much. We know Jose likes to play this way and feel out a goal but I don't think it's warranted against Sevilla.

If you're going to go down this route Jose at least put out a team formation that can work a goal.

Utterly embarrassing inept performance over two games. They were there for the taking yet we were too timid and Sevilla knew about 65 mins in this was their night.

Felliani and Matic in midfield :houllier:. Why not stick with the same team against Liverpool? Mourinho brought this on himself. Shocking team selection, negative play in the away leg and today. Spent a load of money and we are left with this. Even Moyes United put in a better effort in Europe.
What the hell? Moyes times, really?

Yep. His lack of desire is fecking pathetic. Honestly wouldn’t care if we shipped him out and got a replacement. He’s got the talent but what does it matter when he just can’t be arsed?
I don't think it's Pogba. He's a fecking immense player. It's the manager. He's done this to so many players. Not sure what's happening behind the scenes, but half the time the players look at odds with what they've been told to do. We broke the world record for this fecker, if you don't think we'll sell him to another team and he'll become a fecking monster again, you're nuts. Manager is toxic.

Between Mourinho and Pogba, I know who I would keep after the set up over these two legs. Sick in my mouth to see that performance. Yes we can lose. Yes things may not come off. But to set up like cowards at home to Sevilla.

Sir Matt must be rolling in his grave.

Don't understand why all that respect towards solid european side? At home? I have a feeling that if we played our game, we would destroy them

Mourinho out, if you wanted Van Gaal out you simply cannot defend these types of performances, which have been a constant for most of the last 12 months.

Can’t wait for all the muppets on here to tell me I’m a stupid cnut, please go ahead...
What makes it even worse is we have a far better squad than under LVG as well. I’m sick to death of Mourinho’s negative approach.

Unfortunately it's true. The spineless way he setup the team, the way the players don't respond, him being stubborn, putrid quality of football, it's just too much. I don't usually advocate sacking managers but i don't really know if he got what it takes to manage a club like United. It was a nightmare scenario and this all so depressing. I wanted to defend him, give some support but i can't. Sucking the joy out of football.
Where does he go from here after United. His brand of football is outdated and surely no respectable big club will wanna hire. He needs a break from football or consider international managment. He's become a parody of the great tactician he used to be.

The players haven't got a clue how to play with each other, and it's time to start doubting whether Mourinho can get anything out of the attack, he's brought in his own players like Lukaku, like Ibrahimovic, like Mkhitaryan and now Sanchez, and he's not found consistently good attacking football.

That was such a disappointing game, from about seven minutes, we actually started well, for about seven minutes, then Sevilla just got control. They played better at their place, and at ours. Our set up made us second best. At the end of the match we threw players forward and still had no clue how to play it.

First off, congratulations to Sevilla and their fans. Great achievement by their side!
How is it a great achievement? Your speaking about them as if its Southend or something. They are at our level and beat us fairly. I'm sure they thought they could too based on how they approached the game... They'll be hoping to go further too.

Bad tactics, bad team selection, and bad play from many key players. Sevilla shouldn't have given us much trouble and yet we were lucky to walk away with just a 1-2 loss.

I'd give JoMo the benefit of the doubt and hope he learns from it but the leash is much shorter now.

If we sacked Jose who would replace him?

I too like others are fed up with this defensive rubbish style of football but who else is there? Then it would be how thy need time to rebuild the squad, yadda yadda
Someone who likes to play attacking football and has an idea on how to set up a team where the chemistry works. Honestley they let the best one walk off to City, you reap what you sow.

I kinda would like to see what Pochettino could do with this team.

Pogba and Sanchez should be fecking docked wages for that fecking shower of fecking shit.

feck off. Sevilla weren't even fecking good.
What's this Pogba stuff? He came on after an hour! people cannot wait to blame this guy, and I think there are other reasons for that. Pogba, to me, looks a guy who is lacking confidence, massively. No one speaks about what he is good at any more.. why is that? he is now a poor player? That's nonsense. The arrival and form of Sanchez highlights exactly what the issue is... attacking minded players, playing for a manager who does not know how to play expressive football. It's all pragmatic, defensive and frustrating. It reflects the manager... always look for a nemesis.. be it other managers, the press, even blaming the crowd recently.

He should apologise for this performance and take responsibility.

The voice of reason - I feel exactly the same. We are not the team that we were under SAF. We are rebuilding from being pretty rock bottom, and we don't have the quality of players we need to play a tactical pragmatic game in the CL atm. Conversely if we'd gone all out attack I could see us getting taken apart too. In the end we got a dire middle ground. It happens.

We have to show more fight, more desire, and add more quality over a few more windows.
How is it a voice of reason to point out that we've had matches like this under Fergie. feck sake, City has had shit matches like this under Guardiola as well. The point isn't one off matches, it's the attitude over the course of a season. This isn't a one off, this is the same shite we've generally been served for almost two seasons under Mourinho

I think we got about as far as the team deserved in the CL this season. Mourinho is still in the rebuilding stage and we are still a top class box to box central midfielder away from being a team that gels properly. Once we get a Milinkovic-Savic then I think we'll be far more fluid and coherent

Under Fergie sometimes we'd lose a key player like Stam or Keane and we'd be disjointed and poor in Europe for a season or two and then once Fergie got that Carrick or Vidic to replace them then it all fell into place quickly and I defintiely feel we are in that place with Mourinho where we need one or two more until it gels.

I knew the game was over once we were only going to have one specialist central midfielder on the pitch when Fellaini went off.

Nah but seriously the Liverpool game took alot out of them.
Might have, but the celebrations and patting themselves on the back, probably did as well. Sure they thought they just had to turn up. There is too much of that attitude with this team. The manager fiddling with the side was stupid as well. Lingard is an impact sub. Rashford needed to be on the left as on Saturday. Fellaini, god, Fellaini.

Lukaku was immense ... except for the two early chances he could have buried. :(

Rashford was the hardest worker and kept trying to drag his team through, but there just wasn't enough around him.

I thought Sanchez was brought in to be a closer, but he's so far from that. He had almost zero impact on the game.

Everyone else did exactly what they've done all season long, and Sevilla clearly scouted them and pounced.

Very disappointing.

But at least United haven't conceded more than two goals in any competition still ... :|
This is a good summary. Although I am tired of Lukaku expecting every time the ball to get to him

Jose got the tactics wrong. Simple. Didn't go for attack and got punished for being coward against weak team at home. Feck.

Shit on a stick football. Couldn't believe the team at the start or the formation but was hoping Jose would get it right. Rashford on the right is wasted, Sanchez up until this point has been a waste of a shirt and Lingard blows hot and cold in the centre. Our only attacking player on the night worthy of the name was Lukaku.
Jose you've had a mare!

I'd love to know what our game plan was. How is it possible to show up like this in biggest game of the season? Not much left to play for in PL and we seemed more as if we played mk donks in mickey mouse cup than knockout game in CL.

Embarassing stuff. A lot of questions should be asked.
That's the same thought I have during all our games. No game plan, no attacking aproach, just pass it around the back until somebody dares to pass a ball forward without giving it to the opponent.

Shocking performance. It was coming though. Totally outplayed in the first leg in Sevilla. Outplayed in the first half by Chelsea who finished the game with more attempts at goal. Very lucky vs Palace. Played like a midtable team vs Liverpool in the second half. The luck can take you only so far.

How can a club that has spent so much money in the last two seasons play such defensive football against one of La Liga’s whipping boys?
Cowardly display, god knows how we are 2nd in the league.

I used to get really upset with bad results when I was younger, but as I've grown and matured I've put a lot of that behind me and don't let it get me down.

However, I feel absolutely devastated tonight. To watch those overpaid frauds put in a performance like that is such a bitter pill to swallow. Such a cowardly performance, I was spitting feathers, my throat is raw from the vitriol I spewed at my TV.

Why care so much, when they appear to care so little? Awful night lads, going to take me a few days to get over this one, just like the old days.

I'll come back for more though, I always do. Starting to lose faith in Mourinho though. Every time he starts to win me around we do something like this... Perhaps he just isn't the right man going forward.
I think its so upsetting as we have waited a long time to be in the last 16 of the champions league - hell, the europa league was worth celebrating more for the fact that it gave us the chance to compete in the champions league this season.

To work so hard to get back in the competition and to lose like THAT is fecking devastating. I cannot describe in words how pissed off I am right now.

Worst ever. Jose fecked it with his shit team selection and shit tactics of back post to Fellaini.

Mata, McTominay and Martial would've been miles better than Sanchez and Fellaini. feck him. Wouldn't care if he was sacked or resigned today.

Since he had that spat with Jose he hasn't been the same. If he cannot be arsed enough to play for the club maybe we need to sell him. I can't recall seeing a mufc player jog around like that in a champions league knock out game.its crazy

Fellaini and Matic.

It's obvious it doesn't work. If Pogba wasn't ready then surely McTominay even at his age is a better option.

Absolutely gutted! Took everything from the Liverpool win and threw it out the window. Decided to go with our worse available midfielder, who has just return from injury and put him in a position where he has shown time and time again does not play to his strengths. United must be ready to announce Fellaini's contract extension and this must have been agreed to as part of his new deal.
People have been hankering for Fellaini for ages! I'm giving Mourinho next season to see how he's going to fix this before I start to flip.
