Pre Season Tour 2025

That’s where the money is unfortunately, albeit it looks like a game against a South East Asian all star team in Malaysia might be on the cards at the end of the season. Needless to say, I’m delighted with that especially as I’ll be in the country at the time (my thoughts on the principle of post-season friendlies after scrapping cup replays can be saved for another thread).

Speaking on behalf of other countries for a bit, I think the Irish and Northern Irish deserve a few more games too. We rarely go to those nations, where the love of the club is also massive.
True. Wanted to say the same about Scandinavia but then found out we'll play in Stockholm vs Leeds in July.

When the squad is announced? They are leaving today.
I guess the same squad that went to Sweden + Mbuemo.

I read that Ethan Williams is making the trip - wonder who got dropped from Sweden squad?

No Maguire? Pretty big omission

Interesting we’ve listed Amad as a forward and not a defender.

5 keepers and no Vitek. Big hello to him.
Also Amass and Kukonki left out. Probably sorting out some loan moves.

Anyone going to the game in Atlanta? My friend is flying down for that game and he wanted to know if there were any supporters' events or anything else interesting going on that weekend.

Not really. He was named as a forward in the squad list for the Leeds game as well, and started the game at wingback.

Havent't seen that.
Still a hello to him for not getting a slightest chance.
Perhaps there was a big demand for him in Swiss and we know we will be buying keeper, so he can develop/raise his value further. Kinda odd, becasue we could have saved some money on a gk but perhaps we want someone with a bit more experience. He will end up like Kovar I'd guess.

I think it is good that Amass is not a part for the squad and that United wants to loan him out. He was not ready for first team football last season. He was terrible in some matches and need more experience in a lower league.

Dorgu looked very sharp in the Leeds game, and Leon looked at least physically ready for the league. Hopefully those two (plus whatever is left of Luke Shaw) is enough cover for that side for us to not have to see LWB Dalot again.

Taking the train up to Chicago next week. It's funny you could get a double header with the other 2 teams, all for the same price that STL City SC was charging to watch a friendly against Villa. Even more awkward since City SC fired Mellburg.

Well Amad will play #10 if necessary. Dorgu won't ever be used in that position
I think the point is that Amad will be playing as an attacker, even if he's listed as a RWB on the team sheet. Most people didn't seem to understand that when the discussion was raging on what Amad's best position is.

Oh yeah I totally agree. Not sure why people don't get that

Exactly, he'll be high and very wide & switching with Mbuemo depending on the situation. I think we've become accustomed to seeing a lot Mazraoui or Dalot interpreting that role more like full backs so it's clouded people's vision over what Amad as a wing back will look like consistently.

A few notable omissions on the young player front - Kamason, Lacey, Thwaites, Kukonki, Scanlon, Moorehouse, Vitek…

Love them new hoodies/T-shirts the lads was wearing on the plane.

I thought Kamason would get a chance as I think Dalot is such a handicap to our side. I really hope we have great loans lined up for those lads. Apart from Kukonki they all seem to have some real potential. Mind you, I'm the same guy that thought Pique and Rossi would walk into our first team, so what do I know. I rarely ever get excited by a big transfer as much as I do at the prospect at one of the kids getting a real shot at the first team, even if the results suffer a little bit as they bed in.

Would definitely like to see Ethan Williams play at LWB - feels like he has a lot of tools to be successful from that position.

If that’s the case it simply enforces the point that his best position is as an attacker.

For sure. We haven’t always done well with loans in recent years (or have kept them in the reserves way too long) but I’m hoping that Evans’ appointment and Wilcox’s influence will help us secure good loans. I’m ok with the above players not being on tour if they have decent moves lined up.

It’s easy for us to overrate our young players but we obviously have a lot of talent. I think we’ve gotten the 17-21 development steps wrong more often than not though.

Hence why he is an attacker when he plays at WB. People are too fixated on what the formation looks like on paper and not paying attention to how it is actually implemented.
