I’m so bored that I have to do another prediction, a updated one. I think we’ll het Sancho as our marquee signing, we have been after him for a while and I don’t see us ditching our plan to sign him, even if the financial situation is unstable at the moment.

We will most likely keep Pogba for another season and add one midfielder to the squad. I don’t see it being Grealish anymore, but a box to box player will most likely be aquired. It might be Bellingham (no loan back) or Partey. I would like to have both, but I don’t see it in this current situation.

Ighalo is the third and final transfer we will make. A near perfect back-up player for our squad. Seems like a great guy and is happy to start and sit on the bench for the most of our games. Having three players (Martial, Greenwood, Ighalo) for the striker position will have to do for a season, maybe two. I think Greenwood is the real deal, but we can’t rely on him too much yet, even if I think he will score about 10 league goals next season.

In
Sancho 110€ million
Partey 50€ million
Ighalo 10€ million

Total: 170€ million

There are a few who are going to be sold this summer, but in the current financial climate we most likely have to sell on a cheap. We will have a few players that we can get decent fees from and a few who players who will be near impossible to move, but we’ll most likely try it anyway.

Out
Lingard 20€ million
Smalling 20€ million
Rojo 5€ million
Dalot 20€ million
Sanchez loan (with us paying a large chunk of his salary)
Henderson loan
Gomes loan
Chong loan
Levitt loan

Total: 65€ million

That would amount to 105€ million net spent, even if a know that a ridicilious thing to talk about. A few odd million euros will be got from the loaning of Henderson. There would still be a few players in the squad that we need to get rid of sooner or later, but e.g. I can’t see anyone taking a punt on Jones at the moment. If we can move him, great. If we can’t, keep him as a third choice back-up. A CB core of Maguire, Lindelöf, Bailly, Tuanzebe and Jones will have to do for another season. Mengi and Bernard is also knocking on the door, but it’s a bit early for those two. Another one, Pereira, can still stay if you ask me. Still room for improvement and he can be a squad player for another season. I like his fighting spirit.

We have a few youngster that needs to get a good season on loan, maybe even two. I still have high hopes regarding Gomes and Garner is a another player I really like, but the need to play a lot and against men, it can be in the championship or even league one, as long as it is against men. In an ideal scenario Gomes replaces Mata in a season or two, and Garner replaces Matic. Mejbri will stay with us and he will get some odd minutes here and there.

Realistic squad for next season would be:

ST: Martial (Ighalo, Greenwood)
LW: Rashford (James, Martial)
RW: Sancho (Mata, James, Greenwood)

CAM: Bruno (Mata, Pereira)
CM: Pogba (McTominay, Matic)
CM: Partey (Fred, Mejbri)

LB: Shaw (Williams)
LCB: Maguire (Tuanzebe, Jones)
RCB: Lindelöf (Bailly)
RB: Wan-Bissaka (Williams, Laird)

GK: De Gea (Romero, Grant)

In attack we would have many players that can operate in several positions. A young attack for sure, but a lot of potential. Second to none if we are talking about potential. Rashford is going to be a superstar.

In the midfield we would have Pogba, Bruno, Fred and Partey all in their ”prime” age. McTominay is a few years younger but would still get a lot of minutes. One of my favorites for sure and he is very useful against physical opponents, he is a tough player and a great athlete. Matic has been very good this season and he would be the only defensive midfielder in the squad. He was pretty shite last year, so I’m not to comfortable to rely too much on him. Needs to be rested regulary for better performances. We often talk about the need of a pure defensive midfielder, but since Ole is not and has not (at Molde) played with one I don’t see us needing one playing regulary. A double pivot with two of Pogba, Partey, Fred, McTominay and Matic is flexible and we can rotate depending on who we are playing.

In midfield we would have versatility and genuin competition for playing time. I don’t see many better midfields in the league if I’m honest.

Our defence would be pretty thin and young and I would not mind adding an older leftback to the squad, but I don’t see it happening this summer. Another CB is most likely on the agenda at some point, but not this summer most likely.

With this squad we would easily compete for top spots in the league and in a couple of years we can really compete for the big trophies.

Back : Sanchez - 'like a new signing'
Woodward in negotiation for Sancho throughout the window. Sancho signs for Barca hours before transfer deadline. Woodward turns to Grealish, offers Villa £100m, offers Grealish personal hairdresser, selection of fine wines, and swimming pool full of Love Island contestants. Fax machine breaks while transmitting last minute paperwork.
Staying : Pogba. With Fred finding form, McTominay coming through, Matic improving, midfield is 'fine'. Pogba suffers mysterious muscle tightness on eve of next season, and spends the whole if it in physio.
Out : Lingard. To Real. Where he becomes player of the season.

People listing 5+ departures and 5+ arrivals, I believe they're not aware of the current market situation. For me Sancho is a possibility, definitely a desired transfer, but it could simply not happen due to negotiations with BVB and financial reasons. I couldn't predict his incoming this summer, but maybe in the next two windows. Rather, my say would be:

In:
- Grealish for no more than 50m. No doubt can play in the right side of the attack
- Young midfield hopeful in the Bellingham mould, but I just dont see the interest in him raging up out there
- Maybe a CB if we sell all of Jones, Smalling and Rojo, nothing fancy, not either a panick buy

Out:
- Smalling
- Rojo
- Ighalo, wont be extended as Sanchez joins the squad full time next season
- Chong/Garner/Gomes on loan, maybe

Next season squad:
gk: De Gea, Romero, Henderson
cb: Lindelof, Bailly, Maguire, Tuanzebe, [Jones/new CB]
fb: AWB, Dalot, Shaw, TFM, Williams, r: Laird
cm: Matic, Pogba, Fred, McTomminay, [new MF], r: Garner, Galbraith, Puigmal
am (includes wings): Mata, Bruno, Pereira, Lingard, James, Grealish, r: Gomes
fw: Rashford, Martial, Sanchez, Greenwood, r: Chong
So you think Sanchez will be used as a backup central striker?

I think there will be no investment in the GK area or anywhere in the back line and if the club can offload any players that are on loan then they won’t think twice.
I think Bellingham will be an addition and will not be loaned out and Pogba will stay as no club will pay the cash that Utd want for him so that would be it for the midfield
In the forward line I think there will either be a young player added to the club as a backup forward or signing Ighalo permanently.
Maybe a move for Sancho but I think we have a price which we will not be moved on and I think there is enough encouragement from James and Greenwood.in the RW position that Ole will be happy with.
Sanchez is going to be hard to shift and I don’t have a clue what is going to happen there.

I feel hopeful we will get Sancho and the rest depends on the health of other clubs and the Glazer willingness to invest

They might well be more ambitious this summer window given that clubs who are struggling are more motivated to sell and the Glazers might save tens of millions with an adjustment in prices - better to buy now than potentially pay more.

No idea where Ole sees the improvement required - in terms of priorities a RW like Sancho should be our first priority. Ighalo has done enough to earn a backup spot in the squad and he won't command a huge fee. In terms of strikers there might be value elsewhere and Ole might look for a different kind of striker.

In midfield ideally you would move on Matic/Lingard/Jones/Smalling and bring in Grealish/Partey/CB? style players but who would take them - I think Jose would love to bring Matic to Spurs - he's a player he trusts. Roma would take Smalling - not sure about Jones

I think we could potentially sign players like Bellingham and others from the Championship - taking advantage of struggling clubs perhaps in some Dan James profile signings.

Sancho would be fantastic - the issue we have is that as far as I know Dortmund are far from needing to sell - we will just pay the money required

It's hard to see Pogba go - we could hold him for another year and he won't lose any transfer value - rather we might find that after a big season he might be a lot more valuable.

I'd like to see Lingard go - 20m would be fair and Sanchez can go on a free. Jones and Smalling should go.

I'd be happy to ship out a few players this summer, 10: Jesse Lingard, Eric Bailly, Andreas Pereira, Alexis Sánchez, Nemanja Matic, Chris Smalling, Juan Mata, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Timothy Fosu-Mensah

We should get over £100m for them all; even in this market. None of them are starting 11 material, nor likely to become so; 9 are on unjustifiable salaries. Of course: we haven't a chance of selling Sanchez.

Matic and Mata didn't do badly this season but they are too slow and aged 31 and 32 respectively. If we're bringing in Bellingham, I think he will play DCM. McTominay and Garner also play DCM. So why keep Matic?
I don't think we need a specialist playmaker like Mata. We play better with 3 in midfield; 2 of them box-to-box like Pogba and Fernandes; the 3rd a DCM. Mejbri (U18/U23) is another of that type (box-to-box).
Bailly has been too frequently injured. He throws himself about with so much abandon; he will likely continue to pick up injuries.
TFM I feel a bit sorry for. He hasn't had a descent chance with us. In addition to those 10, more contracts end this June for marginal players and returning loanees. In particular our 3rd choice goalie: Lee Grant, who is now 37, and played 1 game this season (where we could've played our U23 keeper: Kovar). We've never really needed Lee Grant!

As such, with those 10 gone, and Lee Grant's contract ending, the 1st team squad is reduced to only 19. Need to get 6:
1. We can promote a 3rd choice goalie from within or sign an experienced goalie on a Bosman.
2. We need to buy a young, fit, fast centre-back to compete with Linderof, and hopefully replace. Salisu for €12m
3. It looks like Bellingham is arriving to occupy a #6, sometimes a #8 spot. ~ €20m
4. I expect we'll buy a right-winger like Rabbi Matondo for about: €10m - €20m.
5. Another striker for up to €25m such as Alassane Plea.
6. I expect we will promote some more U23s to get substitute minutes: Mengi and Mejbri especially.

That brings the 1st team squad numbers up to 24 + 2 more teenagers. With a positive balance from the transfers out! which we should spend strengthening the Academy; perhaps finding some more potential world class talents like Mejbri?

Realistically: we won't sell Matic, Mata nor Sachez. We should definitely sell the other 7.

I don't anticipate more than 50m net spend. Most United players will be hard to sell due to the size of their wage packages and the tight budgets of virtually every team in every top league.

Out:
CB Chris Smalling to Roma for 14m. Roma knows him so they could justify a small fee.
CB Marcos Rojo to Estudiantes for 4m. Estudiantes knows him so they could justify a small fee.
AM Jesse Lingard to Newcastle for 12m. Newcastle spending money so offer EPL experienced Jesse for a small fee.

In:
ST Odsonne Edouard Celtic 25m. Productive 22 year old possess traits that can be coached up into a top class Striker.
AM Hwang Hee-Chan RB Salzburg 10m. Cover for all 3 attacking midfield spots had a goal and assist vs Pools best 11.
CB Dayot Upamecano CB RB Leipzig 45m. Imo, the ideal partner for Maguire at a reasonable fee.

IN: Sancho (87M pounds), Grealish (45M pounds), Bellingham (25M pounds + 10M in potential add ons).

OUT: Lingard (10M-ish pounds), Smalling (16M-ish pounds or just under 20M euros), Sanchez (undisclosed fee under 1M euros), Rojo (2-3M pounds), Gomes, J. Pereira.

Dean Henderson to be loaned out again to Sheffield.

Just cannot see Grealish unless Pogba leaves and suspect Sancho could drag on too

yeah i doubt it as well. but i'm being optimistic. with grealish in there it makes what i suggested an overall net spend of around 123M. Without him its more like 78M pounds, which is obviously way more realistic. Sancho and Bellingham IN, Lingard, Smalling, Sanchez and Rojo OUT

Looks like alot of fans are out of touch with current economic climate.

There is no chance a team is spending over £100m on transfers this summer.

100m on multiple players is realistic not 100m on one player and COVID or no COVID no chance Utd spend as little as 50m we aren`t Arsenal. Woodward himself said Utd are financially well off and will remain active in the market

I don't think we are signing Sancho unless Pogba leaves for big money, which looks unlikely now. Sancho was a certainty before Covid 19.

In - Bellingham 30m, Matondo 25m, Joe Rodon 20m.... We'll probably get another striker on loan or use Sanchez. Maybe sign Odsonne Edouard if we don't sign Rodon. Total spend - 75m

Out - Smalling 13m, Jones 2m, Dalot 7m,
Total sales - 22m

Lingard apparently has no intention of leaving so we're stuck with him.

I think you are massively underselling our players.

Smalling is surely worth £15m Jones at least £5m and Dalot closer to £20m

I honestly think this upcoming window will be a real dud for most clubs.

Summer 2020

Bellingham £30m
Igahlo £15m
Maybe a CB for 30-40m

Summer 2021

Sancho £65/70m
Saul £75m (replacing Pogba)

Very reasonable post. I would like to see the youngsters getting more minutes, and maybe Garner can perform as good as Bellingham.

Romero out, Henderson in
Smalling and Rojo out, a Maybe CB in
Lingard out, hopefully Pereira to, maybe Bellingham as per the roumors
Sanchez back in

Why get rid a keeper who doesn't mind sitting on the bench?

Yeah let's keep Dean in prison instead of loan him out and let him develop. If we didn't let him go out on loan last year, he wouldn't be progressing this far. It's better go out on loan again to continue his progressing.

I think you may turn out to be right about this.

Clubs will want to raise funds by selling players. But buyers won't be in a financial position to match/increase their existing wage bill.

I can see the window ending up in stalemate between buying and selling clubs, with relatively little movement in the market until the dust settles a year or two from now. The thing about football finances is that every year sees an increase in revenue and an increase in expenditure. That's driven in part by players expecting a bump in their salary with every move. But it simply can't happen this season because revenues are down.

United will buy only a couple of players because they won't be able to sell anyone to open up space in the squad. As strong as our finances are in theory, we'll be missing out on gate receipts of £110m per year plus the PL prize money (c. £30m) from last season. We won't be in a position to bully any team for their players.

A player who's currently underpaid, like Grealish, will be our best bet. Bellingham seems like a safe option, too. The difficulty will be fitting them in if we can't get rid of anyone. Everyone we might want to sell is currently overpaid.

Signing 3 players are not dud honestly.

Doubt our top target will be a midfield or centre back this summer. Back then before January transfer window, Ole stated that it's not a rocket science that our next target is attacker after losing Lukaku & Sanchez.

We'll probably only sign 1 player and it'll be in the category of attacker; striker or Sancho or Grealish.

3 players that aren't elite players. And I didn't include outgoing either. I bet we don't spend more than £50m net this summer. I don't think anyone will.

Why is that? He's a bleeding kid and doesn't look like signing a new deal anytime soon. He will leave next summer for sure and we will among only a few clubs who can afford that on one player.

It will be a dud indeed but reckon more likely it`ll be:
Ins
Dembele- 35-40m(if reports are correct as it stands Ighalo is going back to China)
Bellingham 30m
Joe Rodon 20m
Matondo 20-25m
Outs
Smalling 17m
Rojo 5m or another loan
Jones 10m
Sanchez- loan
Lingard 15m
Possibly Dalot 20-30m
Judging by the tones of Ornstein and Honigstein looks like Sancho is more likely to stay at BVB for another season and more likely Pogba stays another season. No club can afford him now

Reckon this will be another Griezmann situation where a shit situation stops us doing a necessary signing and we make a balls of it by signing no one or someone not good enough. And then next season it will be too late for one reason or another.

Maybe by 2025 we will have a right winger haha.

This is what I would like if Pogba stays...

IN: Sancho (100m), Koulibaly (70m)

OUT: Lingard (20m), Smalling (15m), Henderson (40m)

NET: ~ £100m

Regardless of COVID-19 I think we'll spend £100m net. The club and owners have money, and we have to improve the squad. There are other players I would like to see sold but I don't think we'll have offers. I would prefer to hold off on Bellingham given the fee, and focus on adding top quality to walk into our starting 11. I'd take Ighalo if the cost was minimal.

Which players do you think United will sign this summer, and who will be sold? And to what price? Make the right predictions and win glory and honour.

This is my prediction:

In:
Sancho 100m
Koulibaly 65m
Ighalo 15m
Bellingham 30m

Out:
Lingard 18m
Jones 10m
Smalling 20m
Dalot 10m
Utd wont spend £200 million. I would say:
In
Dembele £62 mill
Bellingham £30 mill
Montado £25 mill
Maybe if Pogba goes Grealish £70 mill
Out
Periera £10 mill
Lingard £15 mill
Jones £7 mill
Smalling £15 mill
Rojo £5 mill

100m on multiple players is realistic not 100m on one player and COVID or no COVID no chance Utd spend as little as 50m we aren`t Arsenal. Woodward himself said Utd are financially well off and will remain active in the market
If you look over the last few summers, even though our gross spend has been high, the net spend is relatively low.

We have also spend £50m in Jan which reduces the budget. No CL will damage finances even more. With so much uncertainty for the next year, the club might not spend that.

Woodward has said alot of things, you must be quite naive to take his words literally.

This post is wall to wall mental.

Who the hell will have £40m to spend on Henderson?!?

Smalling is more likely to leave for free than £15m.

I’d be amazed if we spent £50m net this summer. It wouldn’t surprise me if we didn’t buy anyone.

I think the January window will be bigger than the summer window for most clubs. Nobody is going to shell out millions right now.

Indeed. Revenues were down nearly 20% in the six months to 31 December and we already owed £150m of transfer fees (all due this year) before we signed Fernandes. We'll probably be looking to break even this summer - it's a sell to buy scenario.
