If this is going to happen, I am sure there will be a very big protest against Glazers. So they will sign 4 players minimum.

Hence the team will be like

DDG
AWB CB/Bailly Lindelof Shaw
Ndombele Pogba
Maddison/Bruno
James/Rashford Sanchez Martial

Directly under the sun... NOW!
If OGS goes down the rabbit hole then the team might just be... A magic rectangle

Martial Rashford
Fernandes Pogba
McTominay Matic
Shaw Lindelof Alderweireld Wan-Bissaka
De Gea

Martial and Rashford extra wide for width and Bruno and Pogba pushing up through the middle.

:wenger:

Squad as of now (players with a squad number under 40):

1. David de Gea
2. Victor Lindelof
3. Eric Bailly
4. Phil Jones
5.
6. Paul Pogba
7. Alexis Sanchez
8. Juan Mata
9. Romelu Lukaku
10. Marcus Rashford
11. Anthony Martial
12. Chris Smalling
13. Lee Grant
14. Jesse Lingard
15. Andreas Pereira
16. Marcos Rojo
17. Fred
18. Ashley Young
19.
20. Diogo Dalot
21.
22. Sergio Romero
23. Luke Shaw
24. Timothy Fosu-Mensah
25 - 30.
31. Nemanja Matic
32 - 35.
36. Matteo Darmian
37. James Garner
38. Axel Tuanzebe
39. Scott McTominay
40. Joel Pereira
-- Daniel James
-- Aaron Wan-Bissaka

I think the only player I can see definitely being sold is Matteo Darmian, but even if it he isn't sold I wouldn't be surprised as Wan-Bissaka is more of a Valencia replacement in the simplest terms. I assume we are in talks over a Centre Back which will probably mean that one of Rojo or Bailly leaves - it won't be Jones/Smalling/Lindelof. I expect that a lot of players will go on loan this season. I can see Tuanzebe at Villa and Henderson at Sheffield United again. Fosu-Mensah will be loaned or outright sold IMO. McTominay will probably get a squad number below 30 if he wishes to change.

After signing James, Wan-Bissaka, and a CB I think we might be done unless Lukaku leaves, then he'd be replaced and we probably wouldn't even invest the whole amount, just deduct it from our outlay to forge a better net spend for the Summer.

I agree with you after seeing the AWB news 100%. 50 is a lot to spend on a RB alone, Glazers are probably wiping their hands and going to bed. I just hope we get the CB + a midfielder to replace Herrera.

What I expect

De Gea
AWB Smalling Lindelof Shaw
Bruno Matic Pogba
Lingard Rashford Martial

Longstaff also signed Lukaku staying but not a starter at least initially.

If we want top 4 cause the above team won't get it. Still realistic transfers.

De Gea
AWB Any CB Lindelof Shaw
Bruno Longstaff Pogba
Rashford Yedder Martial

A lot different than I thought it would be but looks like it's going to be:

------------- De Gea -----------
AWB - Maguire - Lindelof - Shaw
--------------- Matic -----------
-- Fred/Pereira ----- Fernandes
Lingard --- Ben Yedder - Martial

Good back 5 if De Gea stays and decent/average midfield but terrible front 3 apart from maybe Martial.

ZERO faith that anything substantial will be done and we’ll barely scrape by top half with this!

If rumours are to be believed we've been working on Fernandes since May, so could just been drawn out negotiations or waiting for Pogba to be sold. Jf waiting for the latter that really is a stupid move. Fernandes would add huge amounts to our squad regardless of what happens with Pogba.

Longstaff has been on radar for months. I assume there is some progression there and salary would be quick to sort out. The valuation might be the issue, but again probably more a prioritisation piece with needing to plan best route if Pogba goes.

Maguire bidding looks like it's also been progressing for weeks and down to final shavings. I assume maybe having a last dabble around other options like De Ligt before pulling an expensive trigger.

Yedder sounds entirely agreed in principle and just waiting to see if Lukaku is sold.

I think a lot can happen, but maybe not committing till it's clear exactly where the land lies on outgoings.

CB options are not huge so it really needs to be a case of getting one over the line. Fernandes should just be done regardless. Similarly a RW could get sorted, but i have a feeling Dalot will get a chance to make that his own with competition from Lingard.

I would love to add Duvan Zapata in place of Ben Yedder as he has power, speed and over 29 goals last season and has 1 year left on his contract .

After seeing the friendly:

De Gea
Awb Lindelof Maguire Shaw
Fernandes McTominay Pogba
Rashford Icardi James

I think this would actually be a very good lineup. The best we've had in years.

Given the current speculation something like this.

Starters
De Gea
AWB Maguire Lindelof Shaw
Fernandes McTominay Pogba
James Rashford Martial

2nd team
Romero
Dalot Tuanzebe Rojo Young
Garner Matic Fred
Mata Greenwood Lingard

Youth/Scrapheap
Grant
Jones Bailly Smalling Darmian
Pereira Gomes
Chong Lukaku Sanchez
At this point I'd atleast want us to sign..
Maguire
Longstaff
Fernandes

And let go of..
Jones
Smalling
Matic
Sanchez
Lukaku

We can always give Martial, Rashford and Greenwood a season to rotate upfront and then see where we're at. If we finish top 4 we can then go out to sign a world class striker but I don't see the point right now in rushing a Lukaku replacement. If we get the targets we're supposedly after, we should get rid of the older lot in Jones, Smalling, Matic and Sanchez.

Looks like we're setting up to employ a 4-2-3-1/4-2-1-3 (though maybe too soon to say, could change in other pre-season games). Based on that it looks like:

De Gea

AWB Maguire Lindelof Shaw

McTominay Pogba
Fernandes

James Rashford Martial
Honestly I think that rw is going to be rotated relentlessly. Could see James, Lingard, Mata, Greenwood, Gomes, Dalot all playing there at different points in the season. Big chance for one of them to shine and make it their own. On paper it still looks extremely weak imo.

Agree with this except on two points. I think the midfield is lined up slightly wrong here, McT or Matic will play in front of the defence with Pogba in front pushing left and Bruno pushing right.

On paper from a neutral point of view I think this looks a great team strong defence, creative midfield and fast attack, with the youth back up you have as well as Lukaku (if he stays - doubt it!) Fred, Smalling etc you have depth on the bench too. I'd be optimistic, just hope Ole can get them playing as a team.

Absolutely wild that predictions are not putting Greenwood in at RW. He's going to make it his this season. Just like Scott has nailed the DM role.

From what's happened and speculation I think we'll go with:

DDG
Wan Bissaka - Lindelof - Maguire - Shaw
McTom
Fernandes - Pogba
James - Rashford - Martial
Personally I'd rather James out on the left and Martial dumped but that would mean Lingard on the right which I don't want. Lingard is an effective sub and nothing more. I also would love Sanchez to redsicover something and provide proper competition for the front 3 and give us more options.

I also have massive doubts whether Rashford can consistently give us the ruthlessnes and goals we'll need to challenge for anything. Other than that it's looking like a far more balanced and effective team.

Who do you expect to be our reserve striker, behind Rashford?

Depends on the situation with Lukaku. Our only other options are Martial, Greenwood, Sanchez. IMO I would rather we replace Lukaku properly if he goes.
Yeah, that's what I meant. I don't think we'll start the season with Martial, Greenwod or Sanchez as back up strikers.

Let's hope not. The way I can see things panning out is Martial not performing consistently enough on the left and James taking that role permanently - he looked so much more effective on the left against Perth glory than Martial has in the last 12 months. This will leave us without a proper RW again. I have my doubts whether Rashford can become the striker we need (I hope I'm wrong by the way) and will end up back on the right. This once more leaves us without a main striker so I think it would be stupid to not fully replace Lukaku.

Relying on Martial, Sanchez and Greenword is a huge gamble.

100% guaranteed if Pogba stays:
Rashford
Martial-Jesse-Mata (OK MAYBE JAMES)
Pogba-Matic
Shaw-Lindelöf-Smalling-AWB
DDG

New signings wont start the first game w/o any preseason or anything.

Hopefully a cm, forward and defender on the bench... but who am I kidding.
