Ive been saying for a while that I bet Woodward fancies Southgate as a potential United manager. We won't be targeting top class managers (or players) going forward, just those that fit 'the United Way' which for Ed, when it comes to managers, basically means:

- low maintenance / used to working with a low budget
- nice and well behaved
- willing to work with what he has
- loves young English players and doesnt really want expensive foreign signings (just expensive English ones)
- happy to be here

My only hope here is that Pochettino vaguely ticks a lot of those boxes, too. I'm no huge fan of his but he's 2-3 leagues above managers like Ole and Southgate.

I have a suspicion at the moment that the press are just putting out random stupid stories to rile our fan base and allow opposition clubs to laugh at us! Creates lots of clicks!

There is no way we’d be after Southgate and the Ighalo stories yesterday were equally ludicrous

Just my opinion. I think this board will steer clear of decorated, well-known managers from now on in the same way they're claiming to be doing so with players. It fits the narrative they are spinning.

Kylian Mbappe is open to a move to Liverpool but the PSG superstar will set the Reds back £253m.
The very idea that Liverpool could attract Mbappe was laughable a season and a half ago. Now its probably the ideal club for him to move to, how depressing is that! On the flip side there's absolutely no way Liverpool are going to spend that kind of money on him. His wages would probably cause unrest in the squad too.

What's even more impressive is.... do they even need him?

Rashford has been invited to the Super Bowl say the Telegraph? In Miami? While he’s injuredThat should be interesting if he’s photographed somewhere other than Carrington during the season!

‘Don’t go Rash, it’s a setup!’

On a serious note, I’m happy he’s been invited and his profile in global sport is rising to superstar status. Good for him.
