Jonas needs to work a bit on his PR stuff, though. He's likable and all that, but it's incredibly bland. Should get some pointers from Cecilie Uttrup.

Nah, I don't get why people want that. He's just being himself, I say let him. Uttrup is a fantastic character in interviews, because that's who she is, it's authentic. Wouldn't exactly work for Vingegaard.

I still can't get over that van der Poel story. He's had such a weird year, or perhaps a bit longer, going all the way back to that incident at the Olympics last year, and now this. You couldn't make this up. Might be unfair on him, because I'm sure that he trains as hard as anyone, but there often seems to be an air of unprofessionalism around him and his entourage.
And Evenepoel, well what can you say, he's had a ridiculous year. He said he won't have a year like that again, but I'm not so sure. I had my doubts after his crash in Lombardia and the year after, but it seems like he's back on track now. He's doing the same things he did in the junior categories, only now he's doing it to the best riders in the world. I do think the other countries gave him far too much room though, especially France. What on earth were they thinking?

Absolutely ridiculous. You know what he's capable of and what his modus operandi is in one-day races, yet you let him slip away in such a casual manner, just because you have a bunch of nobody's up front yourself who are never gonna be able to follow him? Couldn't believe it either.
Expected a lot more from Pogacar yesterday but he did next to nothing. I think Van Aert also had very good legs but was of course trapped in the background given the situation.
And re: VDP, it's a very unfortunate situation imo, but he also handled it completely wrong. Just call your federation, coach, whatever - stay in bed, let others handle it for you and he could've had a perfect night of sleep within half an hour, probably. He really worked hard towards yesterday, think he was ready to compete tbh.
Yeah I don't get it, how many times does the competition need to watch Evenepoel demolish them with a long solo to realise you can't give him an inch, let alone "gift" him a two minute lead.
I think VDP would've ended up in exactly the same situation as Pogacar, stuck in that group together with van Aert (who obviously couldn't do anything). And on van Aert, yeah must've been a bit frustrating for him, even if it's a team mate who won. I actually think he's a lot better when he's attacking versus when he's waiting for a sprint (just look at the Tour), but he's never going to have that freedom in the Belgian team since the strategy is pretty much dictated for him for the rest of his career: Evenepoel attacks, van Aert waits. I expect many more frustrating years at the WC for him.
Well That's it for Nibali. What a legend. Couldn't care less about Valverde. Never warmed to him.

RIP. A great guy, had the pleasure of meeting him a few times and was always a jovial character with some great stories of cycling.
