PSG Sporting Director Luis Campos is in ADVANCED talks to join Manchester United.| errr no he’s not

This can only be seen as good news.

That guy did a great job going from shitty manager to top Sports Director.

Hard to argue with his body of work.

Who is Sacha Tavolieri?

Sometimes good, sometimes bad. Recency bias would make you think that his PSG stint is an undeniable success, but his first season was really bad, and i'm in the camp of those who say Luis Enrique succeeded despite Campos.

What role would he becoming in to fill? Weren't there briefs that we decided the gardener's position was redundant and the role would be covered by Berrada, Wilcox and Vivell?

Is he primarily a transfer guy?

Wow that’s massive news he’s one of the best in the business

I mean it’s the sort of appointment that could completely change this club for the better

Yea i was just wondering this? Would have thought we had enough with them three.

I'm no expert on PSG or Campos, but was someone like Vitinha an 'obvious' choice to be their midfield controller? A guy who looked unexceptional for Wolves by most accounts. Likewise, Ugarte has his defenders on here and elsewhere but between him and the guy who replaced him ( and cost a few million more) in Neves, I know which I'd take in this Utd midfield. That whole team, in fact, looks like it has elite qualities in terms of individual dribbling or passing ability, but also looks very balanced.

Obviously Enrique has to take some credit for that, but despite the oil money, PSG seem to have spent similar sums to us in recent times and got much better value for it. . Some of that maybe also down to negotiation with agents and contacts, whereby they secure deals for likes of KK and JN for seemingly below-market-value prices via relationships with Jorge Mendes and whoever else... but Campos is presumably part of that as SD.

One thing this would highlight is that we're still going into this summer's transfermarket very undercooked in terms of building the recruitment team we want at the club, as this would be a major pillar of that set-up's leadership arriving after we've seemingly already decided on key transfer targets like Cunha.

Which I don't say as criticism as INEOS, but just to underline that we're still very early in the process of rebuilding behind the scenes. Even if they make all the right appointments, we're still years away from getting recruitment where it needs to be.

You can’t write some of these things. I was thinking the other day when I heard he was available let’s try go for the swoop.

Would be an amazing coo for what we are trying to do. He’s very much got an eye for talent but also builds teams with less focus on experienced ego’s.

Hazard, Martial, Mbappe, Vitinho, Ugarte, Bernardo Silva.

He might not have been directly involved in all of these names but they all came through under his oversight.

He certainly wouldnt fix our striker problem. We'd have 15 midfielders to choose from though

So after footballers now sporting directors also use our name to get better terms in their new contracts

Staying at PSG or going to Chelsea seem like much more likely options. I assume we’ll be adding to the recruitment structure as the rebuilding continues but not convinced it will be someone as high profile as Campos.
