Half of the bin lids on my Facebook follow this cult.
They're the "woke" ones apparently.

It's clearly a right wing user generated platform which launched around the same time as Trump launched his initial bid for presidency.

I got threatened for a long reply pointing out how ludicrous their statements were which came around by "doing their own research ".

That lot lack so much self-awareness.

people who watch and read mainstream media outlets are sheep .... says the people who get their opinions from people filming in their bedroom on youtube

Using conspiracy theories to attract the dregs of society is absolute genius if you ask me. Can't think of a better way to build and solidify loyalty.

...who in turn get their information from an anonymous source (or rather: multiple anonymous sources that sometimes contradict each other) that literally speaks in riddles and has been flat-out wrong on most factual statements.

But we're stupid for listening to mainstream media that provide insights and background, identify their sources, and basically give you all the information to actually form your own opinions.

Right.

There was a good piece on Radio-Canada about QAnon today. They go into the question of how to discuss QAnon with true believers, and how incredibly difficult that is. Their only real suggestion is going back to the source: if you see the mess that's Q (not their statements, but the messy history of the many Q personas), it should be hard to keep taking QAnon seriously. But they also point out that it's now a lot like a religion - and try convincing religious zealots of anything! (link, in French)

Thought this was an interesting thread, how based in reality it is rather than left leaning optimism I don’t know;

Kinda makes sense given where QAnon originated - the article I quoted above makes the point that everything on 4chan similar to QAnon is basically to be taken as a joke. IF that's true, though, try and put that genie back in its bottle now!

I remember back like 15 years ago on rap forums there were a few crazies who were posting videos trying to prove that Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Kanye West and so on were satanists. They were always of a Conservative/Evangelical bent. They would encourage others to listen to certain songs backwards (Put A Ring On It was one that stands out), which they claimed proved that messages were being sent in the music. Shit like "Hail, Satan". Kanye's "Power" was another one where the video was supposed to depict Occult/Illuminati symbolism. I see the same thing all the time with the QAnon stuff: the building on Epstein's island with the blue and white striped walls and golden dome is shown next to a picture of the Buena Vista logo, which looks similar in that the building has blue and white striped walls. The insinuation is Epstein = paedophile, Buena Vista = Disney.

There is certainly symbolism all over the entire world, ranging from paintings to architecture, but so many of the links are tenuous at best. The all-seeing eye is in a triangle, for example. There are triangles everywhere. There are eyes or oval shapes everywhere. You can't really go round claiming that every company logo that looks vaguely similar to an illuminati or occult symbol means that devil worshipping masons run the board. And just because Tom Hanks posts pictures of random gloves he sees on his travels, it doesn't mean that he is signalling to a giant worldwide elite paedophile ring that he's just murdered a child and drank its blood.

Loads of QAnon influenced banners at protests in Ireland today. Brings home how global this is.

I find it all so fascinating. Can anyone else think of any movement on this scale ever where you could be this certain that the followers/believers have shit for brains? I’m really struggling to think of any precedents. I can think of cults that brainwashed people into delusional beliefs but nothing else outside that specific, localised context.

Is it bad that i thought of Brexit?

Seriously I think it goes beyond just stupidity. There is a larger element of perniciousness that underpins these guys. I follow Chrissy Teigen on twitter and honestly the kind of shit they hound her with is beyond insane.

Way beyond any sort of abuse others get on twitter. The sheer number of gifs, photoshopped screenshots, fake quotes, lies etc etc was astonishing. Read up more about this only surprisingly recent given how many times I read “adenochrome” posted.

Im not sure how much this conspiracy theory will survive if Trump becomes irrelevant. I think they’ll get bored of it eventually.

What was pretty interesting though was the 9/11 truther movement as it had a wider range of adherents in terms of political spectrum (leftist and libertarian types) whereas I think this is a bit more partisan.

Scientology springs to mind. Or is that an official religion now? I'd argue all religions are wacky in this modern day, but that's a different story.

Ha, that Radio-Canada article I posted earlier really is quite good. They refer to how QAnon is a kind of conspiracy theory black hole, that somehow has a place for every kind of conspiracy theory. So everything becomes a gateway theory to QAnon - which then introduce you to a world of wackiness, which has a strong US focus but can easily translated to local situations around the world. (For example, even though Q never spoke about Canada, there are now storylines involving Justin Trudeau.) They also point out how QAnon has become a lot like a religion.

So in that sense, not so surprising to find that stuff outside the US, especially in English-speaking countries. (Saw a Canadian car with various QAnon stickers here in Canada a couple of weeks ago as well...)

It‘s incredible the amount of projection that is always underneath this sort of bullshit.

All conspiracies. Until they're not.

Don't just believe. Not the mainstream media. Not Qanon or anyone else. Do your homework. Look into everything.

This is an IQ test you don't want to fail. Freedom, health, wealth, family safety are on the line. The more you understand what's going on, the better you will be able to anticipate and navigate the storm. The herd will get decimated.

If you think about it, QAnon theories are necessary for Trump supporters to resolve the inherent cognitive dissonance in supporting someone who is basically the epitome of the seven deadly sins. If someone identifies as a hardcore Christian Trump supporter how do they resolve the contradictions in supporting such a man as Trump? By creating a belief system where none of those seven deadly sins matter because he is trying to save the world from satanist cults that eat babies.

Being part of a movement and the groupthink that comes with it isn't my cup of tea.

You'll know once we come out the other side of this reset moment. The goal is preservation of health, wealth and freedom. This reminds me of a Dr. Dre tune:

There's three types of people in the world
Those who don't know what happens
Those who wonder what happens
And people like us from the streets that make things happen

Try to at least be in the second category.

Did you know that Qanon is a communist and he wants to build a socialist utopia where no one has kettles and everyone has to use a communal burka boiler instead? Stop being so blind to the facts and open your eyes. "They" are the ones who set the IQ test in order to get your brain profile and control you better. I've spent 10000 hours on facebook doing my research so I'm an expert. Stop being a sheep.
