Race for top 5 (confirmed)| Possibly 6th gets CL

Not at all. There's still very little chance City wins the title. Opta has Arsenal at 87% odds. I think Arsenal wins it, and I think it'll be over by matchweek 37.

Much more likely is City just got a meaningless victory, and we just nearly solidified UCL. I'll take it every single time.

If City beat Arsenal then win their game in hand against Burnley they will be top, and favourites. I think Opta might need to recalculate!

If you win tonight you're in pole position to finish 3rd. You are in the best form in the league in the 2nd half of the season.

Game in hand is Palace, however perhaps the Burnley game is brought forward from FA Cup Semi Final weekend

Of course, they will recalculate after they have played each other next weekend. Betting odds currently have city at around 55% to win that one so it is hardly a foregone conclusion.

What i am telling you for months now? This season everybody is beating everybody. When math says it is over then it is over.

I am loking at all of you "it is wrapped now" jinxers. :)

Can’t believe we’re 0-2 down at home to Leeds. Such an important game to get one foot in the CL.

But equally, I don't feel more confident of a result against Leeds or Brentford than say Chelsea or Liverpool. I think we'll limp over the line but might need to make a brave decision to bring in a manager other than Carrick literally as soon as the season ends.

Can’t believe this performance. This was such an important game. We have to play Chelsea, Liverpool, Brentford (who always beat us), Forest (fighting relegation) and Brighton away (who always beat us). Even Sunderland away is a tough one. So so stupid.

Can easily see us lose to Chelsea and Liverpool and drop even more points. We have been poor in our last 5-6 games.

Suddenly it doesn't look like we're going to make it. Didn't expect this shambles against Leeds at home.

Will be interesting to see how many top 6 teams will change managers by end of the season.

This loss will make it much tighter if we also lose to Chelsea, we should still make it but it’s going to be a struggle. Our form was never going to be sustainable.

Two half decent teams at the top and an ocean of crap below. Can't believe how bad this league is.

A fair few of you were getting very carried away. And football has a habit of stinging you!

I'd at least said if we beat Leeds and don't lose to Chelsea it's done.

Still... 1-2 Casemiro! Still a chance!!

I've said a million times United always make things unnecessarily difficult for ourselves.

Going 10 points clear ahead of Chelsea would have been too easy.

Chelsea will beat us and it will be down to 4 points, I'd put good money on it.

I'm worried Jeff. Can see Chelsea beating us at the bridge. We also have Liverpool at home and despite their form, that game is never easy. Can easily see that cnut Salah scoring the winner.

Would take a big feck up from us but apparently we’re capable of it.

One win in four now for us. Brentford game in a couple of weeks looks key for United as an absolute must win. If we lose away at Chelsea next week, we could be 5th and only a point clear of 6th by the time we kick off vs Brentford (with Liverpool then to come the following week).

Maybe it’s a blessing if it means Carrick doesn’t get the job.

As usual this team don’t show any urgency unless their backs are against the wall. Utd need a manager that can get them playing full pelt from the start. Not sure who that is though.

Ok, very few of us saw that one coming. Still, it’s very much in our hands though, especially considering that 5th place gets a spot.

If Chelsea beat us then it’s still all to play for. We need favours from teams against our rivals.

Lose to Chelsea next week and this gets really really iffy again.

Would you trust these players to win their last few games if they had to get top 5 ?

Our best chance was to have this done before any pressure was applied , these players will fold like a cheap deck chair in a pressure cooker situation.

We’re in a top 5 race - we’re not going to maintain title winning form until the end of the season. We’re going to drop points against clubs down there, as we have done all season, and maybe beat the best teams, and everything in between.

The only concern would be that we see a Oleesque 18/19 collapse after an incredible start, but even then the teams we have behind us are also prone to haemorrhaging points. We should be fine. Arses will twitch if we lose to Liam on Saturday though.

What we don’t want is any pressure being applied in our final games. Then I think we potentially would collapse. We need Chelsea, Villa and Pool to keep dropping points. Note that Chelsea and Villa have to play Liverpool.

Yep.

Our fans overrate us massively. We're as bad as Liverpool and Chelsea but we only play one game a week and have managed to scrape some close wins in a new manager bounce period which can happen.

We could be 5th by the end of the weekend, with Chelsea 4 points behind us
Chelsea look very weak to me. Very fragile and I’m not sure their players believe in their manager. Even if they beat us I can’t see them overtaking us eventually.

Next four games:
Chelsea (A)
Brentford (H)
Liverpool (H)
Sunderland (A)

I am not feeling very hopeful that we'll take enough points from those games to keep Villa, Liverpool and Chelsea behind us.

We will comfortably finish in the top four, let alone five!

Look at the form of the teams below us.

i think very likely villa will pass us by the end of that stretch. Pool i could see going either way. Chelsea are the wildcard and the team we really need to focus on. Win against them and i give them pretty much no chance for them to rally at all.

Even if Chelsea beat us next week, to assume they’re going to follow up with a run when they’re away to Brighton, Liverpool. Very much doubt that will happen. They’re proper shit.

What is it about this club that has to make things so difficult?

Even when we get there in the end we tease the possibility of throwing it away.

I've seen this routine too many times, Chelsea are going to beat us on Saturday.

Every season the top four race turns into a battle for who can be least shit. The nature of teams third to sixth in the league is that they are all pretty inconsistent. Can see us beating Chelsea on Saturday which should guarantee us qualification. Just got to hope we have at least three decent performances in us from the last six matches
