Some decent saves in this highlight compilation from Radek. Here’s hoping he gets a chance next season, albeit at number 2, with Onana and Bayindir hopefully gone.

Tough gig for the number two next season. Will barely get a kick with no european games. Doesn't seem the role for a young keeper.

Unless it's to genuinely compete for the starting spot as opposed to just bring backup.

We should be signing someone who is going to challenge Onana.

Absolutely. He has been the best goalkeeper in Austria all season. In fact, I'd go so far to make him number 1

So you've narrowed it down to any player that has had a shot on target against us in the past two seasons.

according to Centredevils, he is apparently returning to Old Trafford after completing his loan spell at BMW Linz. he made 28 appearances, kept 7 clean sheets and helped Linz into the top 6 in their 2nd season in the top flight. Apparently he made just one error which led to a goal (Onana made 5). Of course, I accept that the Austrian League is not on a par with the PL but what I've seen of the kid, he's been pretty impressive.

Could he replace Bayindir next season as our number 2?
Rather he goes on loan, he won’t get many games as a number 2 and he needs to keep progressing

We should be looking to sign a new no.1, but worst case scenario I would play this guy ahead of Onana.

Never understood why we haven't given this kid a chance. All reports and videos suggest he's very good.

Maybe this summer will be his chance. I guess Amorim hasn’t had the chance to see him close up as yet. If we haven’t signed a new keeper by pre-season then that’s probably his opportunity to impress and stake his claim.

Yeah that's a good point. Hopefully he has a bit more visibility this summer. Looks like it may be time for him to move to the United first team to give the current two a bit of competition.

Amorim is not afraid to give youngsters a chance.

He has also seen enough of Onana to know that he cannot be relied upon going forward.

Radek Vítek should be the new reserve keeper and start cup games. He can get some PL experience too, coming on during the second half when United are 3-0 up ;)

These videos for goalkeepers only show 50% of the story.

You actually need to see all the goals scored against him as well.

All goalkeepers make good saves, but far more insight can be had from seeing how they concede, and thus the weaknesses they have.

Agree that it’d be useful to see an “all goals conceded” video too as the one for Onana painted a very concerning picture which was sadly ignored.
In Vitek’s video here, he probably parries more than I’d like from my goalie although his reaction to follow up shots is decent. His one vs ones is pretty good…he closes ground quickly and gets right on top of the forward which is something you see with the better goalkeepers. None of this stuck in no-man’s land trying to guess and committing yourself early.

Generally his fundamentals look sound and he appears to be a good all rounder. The question for me now is whether or not he can make the step up. To be honest, I think we need him to step up in pre-season to put some pressure on Onana at the least.

The amount of parrying right in front of him will get exposed and targeted in the PL.
He'll have to cut that out if he wants to play for a top team in goal.

Can we please just get this guy back and give him a season to prove himself? Large frame and seems very alert.

I think he still needs another season at least on loan, preferably at a higher level than last season.

The potential is there but he still a few things to iron out in his game. He parries into a danger a fair bit and still needs to work on his footwork.

So no worse than what we got

That was my first thoughts while watching the compilation. However, he has quick feet for a big lad and makes some nice reflex saves.
At 6 foot 6 he will have a bigger presence than Onana. Personally I like a big keeper, 6'4" plus is ideal as long as they have above average mobility. I would rather take a chance on Radek than bring in someone like Vanja Milinković-Savić who is massive but is less mobile.

It can possibly be trained out of him by a good coach. It's strange to me that such a big guy would not choose to catch the ball.
I don't rate Savic from what I've seen. He looks slow.

Yeah, but we should not view the development of young players in that short term way. If a player is still developing and not ready for a regular first team position, then you don't rush him into the line up because the senior player in his position is not good enough. This is especially true for a position like GK where there is less collective responsibility and little or no rotation.
Rather than putting him in a position whereby he crashes and burns next season, we can develop him in a methodical way for him to take over in a couple of seasons.

We should not let the shortcomings of our senior team truncate the futures of our academy prospects. The club should get good senior players in via the market while the academy players continue to develop in an organized and organic manner. A player like Januzaj should be a cautionary tale. Even Rashy and Garnacho to an extent.

He parries the ball into a danger a bit too much for now. The foundation to be phenomenal player is there but he has a few things that need ironing out away from the cauldron that is Old Trafford.
