Radek Vítek | 2025/26 Performances | on loan to Bristol City

I'm sold. Recall him in January and give him the no.2 spot.

Very impressed by how he claimed crosses with confidence and conviction. Also refreshing to see a keeper throwing the ball again. Long passing needs work, but I'd wish he was our no. 2 for this season in a heartbeat. Hope he can claim the no. 1 spot on loan (since he was brought into Bristol City while their no.1 is injured - Max O'Leary, out for another 2-3 months).

They bought a keeper from Southampton, and he’s starting over him. A city fan friend of mine says O Leary will definitely keep him out when he’s back fit.

Promising!
I think he’ll do well there and city will have a good season also. Let’s see how it works but he seems to have the right minerals

Seems to be popular on the Bristol City Forum after his debut. Hopefully he can keep up the good performances and keep his place when O'Leary is back. Didn't realise but they're convinced we have a recall clause in place for January which is interesting considering our goalkeeper shopping.

It's probably because you'd want him to be playing so if he loses his spot to the other keeper you can bring him back.

Plus if Bayindir decides to leave in Jan and Vitek is doing well you can at least recall him and have him and Heaton fight for that 2nd GK spot without having to spend money

Looked very impressive. Let's hope he can get lots of games between now and 2026, and get some valuable experience. I hope that Bristol City can get a premier team in the League Cup, assuming they can beat MK Dons this Tuesday, and let's see if he can carry on this good form against them
He will make mistakes, of course, but that's part of the learning curve. I did see him come for the ball once in this game, and make a bit of a hash of it, but hopefully he will learn from that.
I shall watch as many Bristol City games as possible this season, along with the other clubs that have a United youngster in their ranks.

Some comments from Bristol City-fans:

Absolutely unbelievable. Imperative we keep him for the whole season. United have got a serious player on there hands.

I felt it in the friendly game, same today. He reminds me of Courtois with his height, confidence and shot stopping. Big comparison I know. But blimey. This is an Abraham-esque loan we have here. He’ll win us points this season for sure.

This man could catch a comet, he's unreal

We all want Max to do well... but that was a performance he's physically incapable of. And I literally mean physically.

So much of it is psychological. I just trust this guy. He’s imposing. He’s impressive. He’s powerful. What a save he made in the last 10 minutes.

If he plays like the until Christmas, he’ll be back to United in the new year. The recall clause is there. Praying they sign Donnarumma before 1 Sept now.

If we dont sign a keeper and Onana is stinking up the place, i hope we recall him and throw him in.

Had a really good game for Bristol city. Need to keep an eye on this one. We may not need a keeper

If he’s sitting on the bench he will probably be recalled and loaned out again.

I know he’s young but it’s funny how literally none of this describes either Onana or Bayindir. Both have glaring weaknesses

How is Vitek with his feet?

I think with his feet he's okay, I actually think in a year Vitek will be similar to where Lammens is now, highly rated but his next step will be key in his improvement. It's why I don't know if Lammens is the GK for us this year, we're so shaky relying on a young GK would be detrimental to both himself and the team. Ideally we buy Lammens so he can play cup games this season but I doubt that will be the case.

Ok - but not great. Probably his weakest area.

But he is really good at throwing the ball - he easily throws the ball to the half-way line with great accuracy.

Of course we have a recall option. Could be he’s not playing at City, we could have a keeper crisis, or we could recall him to sell. Numerous reasons.

Man of the match again in a 0-0 draw against Charlton with some excellent saves.

I really think he can make it with us.

Should pitch as No1 next season or someone fighting for No1 spot
Let's save some cash for other areas

Feels like the club believe he has a real chance of making it at United. The rough and tumble of the Championship could be the finishing school he needs to convince them.

Should just recall this lad and give him a chance. He'll be hard pressed to do worse.

Keep seeing calls to sign people (Donnarumma/Lammens) but quietly hoping that we can give this guy a chance - GK is such a competitive spot to be a No.1 at a club and our current options have already proven they're not up for it. I used to want to a GK better with the ball at his feet but christ I'm ready for some 6ft 5 monster who can just claim a corner/cross and be a decent shot stopper...

I think you stick with the plan and give him the season in the Championship, he’s started so well and for his sake he’s better off there.

I doubt we sign a keeper but if we do it’s not going to be an outright number one, hopefully Vitek keeps this form up and he will be in contention next season.

I'm noisily hoping that we give this lad an opportunity to play. He's on loan until the winter window, so I'm hopeful that he'll be back in January, and I just don't see how he could be any worse than any of the first choice keepers we have at the club. Of course he'll make errors, every player does, but he'll have gained that experience every match he plays, and he will improve with age.

Ideally we sign a keeper without a huge outlay (like Lammens) and let Vitek compete with him for the spot next season while shipping the chuckle brothers out

This lad has high potential. I've been very impressed with him since watching him play as a 16 year old. This loan will hopefully bring him on about it more but it's always been clear that he's a GK of the dominant kind and that's something we haven't seen since the Schmeichel/Van der Saar days.

Our best gk being on loan in the Championship is quite funny
He is possibly our best Gk but it's important he gets these games on loan in a competitive like the Championship which will further develop his game. And I think if he carries being consistent at the bread and butter of goalkeeping in the championship, then Amorim will have a decision to make.

We need two new keepers so we can move both Bayindir and Onana out. Still makes sense to bring in a new one even if Vitek looks the real deal this season.

Just conceded a late equaliser to Derby - he did well to save the initial header but pushed it into the path of the eventual scorer. He'll learn from this, I hope, since apparently he was barely tested all game.

Don't think he could done any better, that was a good save. Just unlucky

Quite harsh to say that, the fact he even reached the header was impressive, could have done nothing more.

Eh? In the video posted he couldn’t have done any better really, palmed it to the side

Not sure there's too much to learn really. All very well saying not to deflect it to an attacker but doesn't really apply to reaction saves at full stretch like that.

He did really well to get to the header, and showed good awareness of the Derby player in the 6 yard box to keep it away from him.

It wasn't an absolute split-second point-blank reaction save - what I mean from him learning is managing how firmly he goes with his wrist there. It's a harsh goal to concede, but it's not completely unavoidable.

By no means a mark against him, but it's something he can improve at if we're hoping for him to compete as an elite keeper as our future number one.

?? You imply it's his fault? Seriously? He does brilliantly to even get to the header.

Ridiculous to claim he could have pushed the ball better. he was at full stretch parrying to the side. Zero mistake there. Just a chance there is a oppo player on the rebound

I'll need to see another angle different to the clip posted above but I get what you're saying. Ideally you'd like your keeper to parry it further away or beyond the post (i.e towards the goal line/out for a corner) but yeah prob a bit harsh.

I will say though that he got clattered by his defender and he may well have got up to cover the near post for a second save. Not sure what his defender was doing there turning his back for that pathetic block though.
